"L-L...L...L..." Finally, he just gave up and buried his face into the crook of Skylar's neck with a heavy sigh.

Josh smiled and wrapped his one loose arm around Skylar's torso, dragging him closer. It was perfect... He knew him well enough to know what he was going to say anyway.

[Celine☆]

Josh fell asleep soon after, mouth hanging slightly ajar. He was tired... He was always tired. Although, he had to admit, he was not quite as tired as he had been while spending every night as a wolf for almost a decade. Now he was actually tired from their activities rather than his own shifting.

The puppy wriggled itself up onto the bed and then walked across Josh's bare back until he found a spot to nestle right overtop of Skylar's shoulder. He lay inbetween like an unneeded bridge between two touching masses.

It took a moment for Josh to actually wake up. When he did, however, it was Skylar's cold shakes that brought him out of it. He sat up a little, rubbing his eyes. "Sky? Hun... Y-You ok-kay?" He asked, frowning at his pale face worriedly.

"Oh, Sky," Josh let out a breath and hugged him tightly in return. "I'm sorry... It must have been b-bad." He could feel his unsteadiness beneath his arms and, knowing a nightmare like that, just held onto him longer. "D...Do you w-want to t-talk about it?"

Josh frowned in concern as he watched Skylar escape to the bathroom, and after a moment he could hear the taps running. He waited a few minutes, and then followed. Knocking on the door, Josh put his ear to the heavy wood. "Hun, you sure you're al..alr-right?"

"Skylar, you're freaking me out babe... Open up?" Josh knocked a little harder on the door, getting even more worried. He must have had one hell of a dream... He just hoped it wasn't as bad as the one he had about Skylar's past, although it seemed to be.

After waiting a long moment, Josh let his hand drop and he took a step back from the door with a sigh. "Alright Sky... Come out when you w-want... Love you..." He understood how he needed time to think, Josh was that way as well sometimes.

Josh breathed a sigh of relief and nodded to himself, putting his mouth the door jam again so he could reply better. "I kn-know you do Sky. I'm just going to go see how D-Darren's doing... It's alr-right, come out when you feel better." Then he turned and walked off down the hallway, noticing how it was getting a little darker out now that afternoon was approaching... Maybe that was why he had such an awful dream. Night time had been a bad thing for both of them for a long time.

Josh wandered for a minute, thinking deeply. He loved Skylar, a lot. That much was obvious, but he wanted to do something more for him... Skylar was always taking him out to dinner, buying him a puppy, doing all these fantastic things for him, and Josh wanted to maybe do something in return. He deserved it. However, he knew after a bad dream like that, Skylar probably wouldn't want to leave the house... So he found Darren (sitting in his favorite window seat, surprise surprise) and got to work.

It didn't take very long to set it up. After a while, Josh headed back upstairs and set the puppy down on the bed and put a little note in his mouth, telling him to stay where he was until Skylar came out. The little wolf just wagged his tail, but obeyed without hesitation. He understood Josh better than anyone; except, perhaps, Darren. Getting dressed in one of his more 'suitly' pieces, Josh headed back down to the area to wait.

Josh didn't want to have dinner without Skylar, and considering his rough sleep, eating without him would just be an awfully mean thing to do. Instead he let Darren have his meal while he drank yet another cup of coffee, wondering how it was possible to have a bath that took so long...
Eventually worry replaced wonder and he left the dining room, his coffee, and his nephew, so he could head back upstairs to check on his finacé.
The puppy was gone, go figure, but he wasn't all that concerned about it at the moment. He pressed the side of his head up against the door, but didn't hear anything. Should he disturb him again?
"Sk-kylar?" He knocked quietly. "You sure you're al...alright?" He paused, thinking. "Hun, you're... you're freaking m-me out..." Basically the same thing he had said earlier, but no other words fit in his mouth. "Can I please come in?"

((Oh excellent! I can't respond to all right now though, I'm supposed to be outside or doing something productive... I'll leave this one for when I have more time; as it deserves more thought. (; ))

Still being met with no reply, Josh knocked a little harder. What was wrong with him? "Sky, please... Say... S-Something..." There was a tinge of hopelessness in his voice, as he didn't expect an answer. When silence reigned again, Josh had enough. He was too worried to just leave Skylar alone anymore without knowing what was going on. Reaching down, he turned the handle, relieved to find it wasn't locked. He pushed open the door and looked around inside worriedly. "What's g-going on..." Then his eyes locked onto his silent form in the tub, and he stopped dead. His breath caught and his hand dropped from the knob. "S...S...Sk-ky..."

He didn't know what to do. It was happening too quickly and he felt powerless to stop it all of a sudden. "Skylar - " Josh couldn't stop staring at the knife, and he staggered off the small landing towards him. There was too much to do to stop it, and he didn't think he could get there quick enough. All it took was one second and then it was over. The panic built up inside him until he suddenly went back to his reserver persona. "Skylar STOP!" The last word was a bit of a snarl and a bit of a bark at the same time, fuelled by his panic. But it was loud enough Darren, from down stairs with his sensitive ears, dropped his fork as if the word had been directed at him.
Josh trembled after that, suddenly so pale his frightened brown eyes were even more apparent. "Please..."

Josh stared at him, beginning to tear up. Is this how he had felt all the time? He never knew it was this bad. "I don't... I don't w-want to hear you say that again," he said, walking over and getting down to his knees beside the tub. "You're not a m-monster, Skylar... You're sick... Like me. You did what you h-had to, but now you don't n-need to anymore... I d-donate, I give you mine. It not your f-fault what you did, Sky." His eyes switched the the blade. "I l-love you... Please don't leave me alone..." Finally a tear made it's way down his face and dripped onto the rim of the tub with a soft splash

Josh nodded vehemently, his eyes shut tight as if to prevent any more tears from escaping. It failed, however, for they began to race down his face as if they couldn't get away fast enough. The person he loved the most was so close to being gone forever, it terrified him more than anything ever had before. "Y-Yes I d-do," he said, voice breaking as he opened his eyes to meet Skylar's. "I do so m-much it h-hurts... And it hurts me to th-think you hate yourself like th-this... You're so p-perfect I can't even im-imagine... You're such a g-g-g...good person..."

Josh wrapped his arms around him, hugging him back with a terrified passion. "Oh Sky," He took a deep, shaky breath, and tried to stop crying. It was trauma making itself known. The idea of suddenly having Skylar take himself away from him was something he just couldn't bear. "I c-couldn't imagine having to sp-pend an eternity a...al-lone... Trapped h-here..." Because, of course, if Skylar died he just wouldn't leave the palace. Changing back into the wolf all over again without him wasn't even an option. He would kill himself first. "I love you too m-much for you to d-d...d..." He couldn't finish, and instead just held him closer.

((Just headed there - now I have time! ^.^))

Josh nodded and wiped his eyes on the sleeve of his jacket as he got away from the tub, leaving so Skylar could get ready by himself. He was pretty sure now he wouldn't hurt himself... He knew him well enough to assume that. So he waited outside the door, seating himself on the bed where the puppy had used to be. Darren was probably ready by now...

Joshua gave Skylar a small, kind of sad smile as he came out handsome as ever. In a comfortable silence he linked his arm with his boyfriend's and then lead him down the hall. He passed the front door and instead lead him further upstairs into another wing, not pausing to explain.

Josh smiled a little more and tightened their arms as he came to pause in front of a pair of large mahogany doors. As soon as they stopped walking, a slow and soft sound came wafting through the space unhindered by material. Gentle and almost haunting the violin began to pick up a sad melody, cresending and then quieting with a slow dim e rit. over and over with many beautiful notes. Giving Skylar a kiss on the cheek not unlike the one he had been given only moments before, Josh reached out with his free hand and pushed the doors open.

The room had only been discovered by him a couple days ago (while Skylar had been 'occupied' with Caleb) when he had a lot of time on his hands. It was a massive ballroom, capable of holding nearly a hundred people comfortably. The walls were covered with intricate gold lattice-like structure, winding it's way up the sides until it merged with a beautiful (not to mention spotless) ceiling composed entirely of one gigantic mirror on the top. On the bottom it wove it's way like roots into a polished marble floor. Several chandeliers (with real candles too) were set across the reflecting roof, all lit to perfectly illuminate the room.

In the corner, atop a leather barstool, sat Darren. He held a glossy black instrument to his neck and, with eyes closed (he would definately mess up if he were able to see them enter), ran his bow across the strings to create the music.

Darren opened his eyes and looked at Skylar from across the room with a sly smile, just continuing to play. "Thanks." He said, doing a quick jot across the strings.

Josh's grin widened a little. "D-Darren's a musical genius," he informed his finacé, the words sending a shy burst of red onto his nephew's face. "He brought his v-violin here because I asked him to pl-play at the w-wedding..." He reached over and gave Skylar a deeper than usual kiss. "I didn't think y-you'd want to g-go out after that n-nightmare... So m-maybe we could d...d-dance here?" He laced his fingers with Skylar's lovingly.

Josh let his gaze flicker between his eyes for a moment, curious. "Wh-Where're we going?" He asked quietly, now taking both of his hands in his own.

Darren grinned and nodded, stopping his song. "Yeah, I played it a couple times... I might have to improvise in a few places, but I think so." He said as he rearranged his fingers. If there was one thing Darren both loved and was incredibly good at, it was music. After a moment, he began to move his bow and made the song.

Josh smiled and kissed him long and gentle, letting his usually cumbersome feet dance along with Skylar's, simply letting his body play it's role in the expression. Joshua wasn't the best of dancers, but now that the wolf was gone his grace had improved shockingly. "I l-love you too Sky..." He murmured, leaning just a little closer. "That's why I asked you to m-marry me. You're the most w-wonderful person I've ever met..." His hands tightened a bit around Skylar's as he remembered the scene in the bathroom. "Don't ever l-leave me..."

Joshua just nodded and leaned against him gently as they swayed, all too grateful for what he had now. It really was the happiest time in his life... No fear of the wolf, no fear of his neglect, or of his sadness. It was all gone, and all thanks to Skylar. He had his nephew, his lover, and a sanctuary of dreamlike proportions. Who could ask for more? "If I had kn-known you were going to come along Sky," he said quietly. "I would have l-looked for you sooner..." He paused, then looked over at him. "I w-wish I could have helped you back then... In F-France. You were so al-alone..." It hurt him to imagine Skylar, all alone so long ago.

He complied without objection, putting his head back onto Skylar's shoulder lovingly.

Darren kept playing, opening his eyes every once in a while to watch them. He had never seen Josh so happy... And he was just glad to be helping him. To be part of it. Drawing his bow in one last gentle sweep, the song finished with a final, graceful note.

((I'm so close to crying, but I don't know if I can get there... :') I think Sky and Josh are one of our more perfect couples eh?))

Josh took a deep breath and held it, living in that one moment as if it would last a lifetime. Finally there was no pain, no fear... His scars were fading faster than he had ever thought possible. A person knew that a moment was precious when they could sum it up in just one simple word, and, amid Josh's stuttered life; that word was indeed 'perfect'. He hugged Skylar tight as the song finished, but only slowed slightly. "D-Darren," he said, voice so quiet only another wolf could pick it up from a ways. "Play one of your Y...Yirum-ma s-songs..."

Darren nodded and started again, and after a few swipes of the bow, the tune from River Flows in You was easily recognizable.

"I love you." It came out simply, but it was spoken with a depth that went much farther than the words ever could. Josh said it without pausing as they moved back and forth, not removing his face from Skylar.

The song wasn't very long, and soon Darren drew to a finish on the strings. He let his violin drop down onto his lap and he rolled his neck to loosen up, getting rid of the stiffness that came from playing a lot. Sure, he had only played two songs, but when someone played with a passion it's surprising how much soul can be taken out of them.

Josh finally stopped, but didn't move away from Skylar. "So," he said quietly, squeezing his hands. "D-Did you like my s-surprise?"

Josh turned a deep shade of red, something he hadn't done in a while. Reaching up to rub at his suddenly burning neck, he smiled over at Skylar. "You sh-should really write that s...stuff d-down mister poet..." He smirked and gave him a deep, deep kiss.

Josh stared at him for a moment, trying to decide whether he was kidding or not. Seeing that he wasn't, Josh grinned widely and nodded; reaching up to run a hand through Skylar's hair. "G-Good for you babe," he said happily. "That suit you p-perfectly... You'll be g-great at it."

Darren hopped off his stool and met up with Josh as he followed Skylar out of the room, violin in one hand and bow in the other. He was grinning like a fool in a monkey suit, so incredibly happy.

Josh walked down after his finacé, reaching over to grab his hand before he got too far. "I'm proud of you hun..." He murmured, kissing him behind the ear lovingly.

Josh just noddee and smiled. "Just d-doing my j-job."

Darren gaped at him and Josh smirked as he tried to hold back a laugh. "You'd do that for me?" The poor kid was really shocked at Skylar's generosity. He had been shocked at the couple's care ever since he had arrived... No one had ever appreciated him this much before.

"You..." Darren swallowed and blinked quietly, not knowing how to continue. He really was taken aback by this... "Thank you Skylar." Finally, it was the only way he could finish. It was the only thing he could get past the sudden lump in his throat.

Josh, since he could just tell (thanks to wolf intuition or not), smiled crookedly and ran his fingers roughly over the top of his nephew's head. He could tell how much that meant to the kid.

The corners of Darren's mouth twitched and he tried so hard not to smile. He nodded silently and took a step forward so his arms were around Skylar, hugging him maybe even a little tighter than usual. Darren buried his face into his shoulder, the stiffness in his throat growing painful inside. This was all he had ever wanted...

Josh swallowed and wrung his hands as he watched them. He could tell Skylar loved Darren, and that his nephew loved him back. The visit he was having with the couple were better than all the good moments in the poor kid's life combined. It would hurt Josh so bad to send him back to his arguably abusive parents...

Darren nodded and let out a lungful of air, breathing out; "Love you too." His arms tightened a little and he had to squeeze his eyes shut.

"Alright," Josh grinned and made his way between the two, as if he was physically breaking the moment for the good of everyone's sake. He knew Darren would die of embarrassment if the poor boy ended up crying (and it looked for a moment as if he may). "Enough g-gooshy-gooshy st-uff..." He grabbed Skylar's hand and began to tow him along, knowing Darren was following along in the back. Maybe he should talk to Skylar... Make him understand not to get too overly attatched to Darren. He did have to go home after all.

"Sky..." Josh took a deep breath and glanced down at his feet. He hated saying this... "Sky I d-don't think you should get to a...attached to Darren... He does have to leave after the w-wedding hun..."

"If his parents l-let him." Josh said quietly, completely imagining Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock's reaction to the request. Mrs. Whitlock was only attending the wedding because her husband was, not because she supported same sex marriage at all. If anything, she suffered from a case of homophobia. It had taken Josh almost two whole hours to convince her to let Darren come early as it was... "And even if he d-does come... The he's l-leaving for Am-merica again. It just don't want you h-heart b-broken..."

Josh didn't say anything for several long moments. He stared at Skylar blankly, trying to wrap his ming around this development. "Uh... Huh?" He finally blinked. "What? Ad-dopt him?" After a moment's thought, the idea didn't seem so ludicrous. "Skylar, I un-nderstand not wanting him to l-leave, but his parents w-would never let us adopt him... They would have to s-sign over parental ob...ob-obligations and everyth-thing..." But then a thought hit him. As soon as Darren left, every night would force him back into a wolf body all over again. Josh knew how hard it was... And with a horrible family like he had, it would make his suffering all that much worse. He wrung his hands again in nervous habit. He would not let his nephew back into the pit he had been born into, just to end up suffering like Josh had.
He ran a hand through his untamed hair and let out a breath. "Maybe I can c-conv-vince them." He said quietly. "You're right... I don't w-want him to leave... I can't let him go b-back to that place." A small smile tugged at his mouth as Josh let his eyes flick back up to Skylar's. "You sure you want a k-kid?"

Josh's smile widened and he englufed Skylar in massive, if brief, hug. "God you're so amazing..." He said, seperating.

Josh grinned and shrugged. "I try to h-hold my own." He said with a shy smirk. "Do... Do you w-want to ask him? Darren?"

Josh melted a little, but he put a hand on the side of Skylar's neck anyway. "But it was y-your idea hun," he said quietly. "You can tell him if you w-want to."

Josh nodded, kissing him back. "Alright. Makes s-sense to me." He said with a small smile. "When do you w-want to do it?"

His reponse was cut short by the kiss and he totally relaxed into it, kissing him back deeply.

Josh moved onto him, helping Skylar with his shirt and then took off his whe somehow managing to keep kissing him.
