Kristie, even if it has been said that there are elements of fiction in Travels with Charley: In Search of America, I thought it was spot-on! Great writing, as usual, from Steinbeck.

About 2/3 done with The Book Thief. I'm enjoying the narration a lot, it's got just the right amount of accent, so that the switching between German and English words isn't shocking. It's dark subject matter with a lot lighter narrative tone. Interested to see how it ultimately turns out, though I have my suspicions.
Alana - Glad to hear your enjoying "the book thief" I bought it and it didn't keep my attention and I switched to other books. I guess I will have to give it another try....
Well this wasn't one of the cases where it starts out slow and in one tone but then develops better later. The tone feels pretty much the same the whole time, so if you didn't like the beginning, I don't know that you'll like it any more. But I'm not done with the whole thing yet, so I don't know.
Alana...thanks for letting me know...maybe I'll wait a little longer to listen to it... I'm interested to hear how you like it when its done.

I finished Doc about an hour ago, and even though I haven't done up a review yet, I'm going to give it 5 stars! Mark Bramhall was brilliant! He made the book a delight to listen to. He sounded like Sam Elliott when he was speaking as Doc Holliday which didn't hurt my feelings any. :)

I started NOS4A2 yesterday. So far, Captain Janeway... I mean Kate Mulgrew, is doing a great job. I love the voice she gave the old man in the prologue. I assume he's the villain of the story.
I haven't heard her narrate anything, but she's got a great voice for it, I bet she does a good job.
