Tarik Kanafani Anybody have any insight on what happened to good old Rinaldi? Has it ever been spoken about after the book was published?

Jesus of Suburbia he died for enrico id say. because the books is narrated in first person, it doesnt matter what happened to enrico after he "died" in enricos mind

Michael Calabro In the Hemmingway Library edition of the book, it has all of Hemingway's alternate endings. Here's quote from one of them:

"I could tell how Rinaldi was cured of the syphilis and lived to find that the technique required in wartime surgery is not of much practical use in peace."

He does a couple drafts where he gives a little bit of the history of some of the characters after the war, and this is essentially what he says about Rinaldi in all of them.
