One of the June Picks!

Welcome to one of our June picks, the other being Unwind, by Neil Shusterman (pretend I spelled that right).

Epic is about a world where "real life" is affected by your standings in a videogame. It has more of an action-adventure feel.

I have the book! Hooray for libraries.

Now, this isn't judging the book by it's cover, more of it's title, but I was imagining something along the lines of, "Dude, Epic." It was a big adventure, and something really cool happened.

HOWEVER, when I got to the library, I found out the sequel names are "Saga" and "Edda" and I became much more interested. Epic sounds much more interesting paired with those two other names.

This is the book I'm reading now, so I'll be discussing it soon!

Sequels? ...I'm more excited about that than I should be, since I really wonder where he took it with how the book ended.

Sadly, procuring that hold to get a copy from the library hit a snag, since I've misplaced my PIN and can't place the hold without it. I'll try and get that cleared up Monday.

Thankfully, I have read it twice, so I'll be able to fake it rather well. :-)

I originally picked this off the shelf because that title was different than the books around it. I read it because the description sounded like something I'd really enjoy, what with a real world and a video game world both being important, and I'm very glad I did.

Hey, I don't think there is a "too excited" when it comes to book sequels.

And you know, that's a good point. Both the real world and the video game are important. It's not an either/or situation, which is interesting.

Indeed. While my personal interests make the video game world more interesting to me, their real world was intriguing as well. The fact that one could affect the other, even if only indirectly at times. Plus, the fact that it's a 1 to 1 for time! Taking a long trip in game? It'll take you a long time and many hours you aren't tending crops to do it!

It's fun, a test to see how dedicated you might be to a real life game. Very few games keep a 1 to 1 timescale...In fact, I can only think of animal crossing that at times feels like you've done everything, simply because it needs real time to get new things. Want to catch fireflies, but it's only noon? You'll need to wait...
