adrenal
adrenal is a good one but it changes 2 letters (the g and one of the a's) so it does not work.
adrenal-> slander@Diane: Uh, I think it works. Only one letter has been changed b/w 'garland' and 'adrenal'.

I thought you were only allowed to change one letter??
Sorry. I guess I didn't read the directions carefully. Don't know where raid came from. Maybe somebody can explain this to me.

Eric, your word does not work. For one, it is eight letters instead of seven. Second, you need to change ONE letter in the word above your post to form a new word.
