✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ After his encounter with Cameron, as strange as that was, and he was still regretting it, Damien decided to pop into the lab one last time before finally heading home. His parents wouldn't be too happy about this, after all they hated the fact that he was even bothering himself with working in the lab, but it was the only place where he felt as if he belonged even if he was constantly surrounded by intellects who looked down at him. It was annoying since he was just as smart as they were, but they treated him like a moron just because he came from a Noble family. Nonetheless, Damien kept a cool head, smiled, and acted as if all was well. Growing up in the Delacroix family, Damien was great at pretending, though he didn't particularly enjoy it. Walking into the lab, took a quick glance around to see who else was there.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Normally Cara wouldn't have been patrolling this hallway. She wouldn't have even been anywhere near the science lab, but with all the other sections covered she got sent here. Which was why she found herself here. As she walked she frowned and crossed her blue eyes huffing out a breath in hopes of blowing the stray strand of hair from the front of her face. Although that seemed highly unlikely. Especially since the hair just flopped right back into place which is why Cara ended up reaching up and tucking the strand behind her ear, so focused on the strand she didn't watch were she was going until she almost ran right into the door of the science lab. Sighing she shook her head and then pulled it open. After all she had to make sure that the scientists were safe. Stepping into the room she found herself dancing on the tips of her toes once more, for right in front of her was none other than Damien Delacroix? How did she know? Well she'd know the back of his head anywhere. After all she'd spent more than enough time casually daydreaming in the direction of that head then looking away before he would turn around. Although standing in front of the door like this? That was not a particularly smart choice and stepping back she cleared her throat a bit and then scanned the room to find that there were no other scientists in the room. Just her and Damien.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Damien heard the door open behind him, making him instantly turn around to see who was there only to see it was that Royal Guard who patrolled the Lab. What was her name again? Damien never took the chance to talk to her, then again he was always too busy to talk to anyone as the scientists always made him run one silly errand after another until it was time for him to go. Though he has heard her name around before, and he was sure he must have at least said 'Hi' to her a few times. What was her name? What was her name? Suddenly Damien smiled widely, recalling her name, which was rather pretty like she was. "Hello Cara," he said politely. Wait did he just think she was pretty? Quickly he swatted that thought to the side. If he focused on something like that, he wouldn't be able to get more than a few words out at a time. "It is Cara, right? I am sorry, I am rather forgetful when it comes to people. I do not meant to offend you." Why was he talking like this? 'Damien, get a hold of yourself, you're acting like a dork.' Internally, he rolled his eyes at himself. Seriously. Just. What was wrong with him? "I'm Damien, by the way." He held out his hand to her with a sweet smile on his face.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay "Yes, it is Cara." He knows my name? How? Well I suppose that he must've heard it from one of the other guards or something. Or possibly even one of the scientists. Still when he turned around she was still a bit shocked, gosh emotions towards someone were really dangerous. Especially when it came to Cara as when she got too emotional her ability got a little out of control. Sighing softly she nodded when he introduced himself, her words slipping from her lips before she could stop them. "I know." Realizing how that might sound she hurried to explain, "I've heard some of the scientists talk to you, plus one of the Delacroix kids. Everyone knows of you. Sometimes-" Cutting herself off to keep from blathering on she was glad she stopped when she had. Else she would've said, 'sometimes they say the only reason you got here is because you paid your way in'. Of course that was just jealousy talking. Even she knew that. Rocking a bit on the back of her heels and taking a step back so it didn't appear as though she was nervously shifting her weight part of her mind was screaming like a kid. Their first real conversation! And then the outer part of her was saying, "Why are you here?" Oh great. That didn't sound accusatory at all....

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ 'I'm one of the Delacroix kids. Yep, I am just another Delacroix kid.' And that was probably all he would ever be seen as. Just another kid from the Noble family who buys his way into everything. That wasn't true, Damien was from a rich and high standing family, but he didn't use his parents' money to get everything in life. He understood the value of hard work and whole-heartedly believed in it unlike his siblings. Even though Cara stopped herself from continuing, he knew full well what she was about to say. It wasn't hard to figure out that the other scientists were saying bad things behind his back, probably saying he didn't even earn his position as the assistant in the lab. He's heard the rumors. Yet, Damien came into work every single day, not letting their envy get in the way of his true passion in life. Smiling at her, he hardly took offense to the way she stated her question. It was probably surprising as none of the other were there, so why was he there? Damien honestly didn't know, he just felt more comfortable there than at home; the last thing he needed to hear was his mother complain about how she couldn't find a single girl for Damien. "Oh I uh just came here to uh check . . . um on . . . some of the uh projects." What the heck? Yeah that didn't sound suspicious at all. Good going. What was he stumbling over his words? "Sorry, I'm just here to do some last minute check-ups before going home." Yeah, now that sounded better. Not great, but better.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Hmm at the way that Damien replied. Cara should've been suspicious. Her guard instincts should've told her something was a bit funny sounding there. But all she could think about was how she was talking to Damien....but by the slightly crestfallen appearance on his face it either wasn't going well or she had offended him in some way. So naturally she decided to launch into some sort of safe topic. Help distract her from her nerves....otherwise she might start breathing out paranoia. Wouldn't that be charming? Then he'd be terrified of her. "Oh.....well what do you work on in here anyway? I never hang around long enough to actually learn about what's going on. Since neither one of us has anyplace to be right now though....maybe you could explain?" Oh great...she'd made an assumption. What if he did have some place to be? And was just popping in real quick? Now she was distracting him. Stupid Cara!

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Rubbing the back of his neck nervously, Damien thought over her question since most of the stuff that went on in there was sort of not to be known to the public. Though if he was vague enough, maybe it would be okay, but he wasn't sure seeing how most of this stuff wasn't really his place to explain. Well, none of the other were in there so it should be okay as long as they never found out. "Sure, I'll even give you a small tour of the lab," Damien offered, dropping his hand back down to his side. Taking a step back, he motioned for her to follow her, though he felt jittery again. Cara was very pretty, and in a very obvious way too. Those bright blues framed by thick lashes was enough to make him stumble over his words if it wasn't obvious my now, but Damien tried to think of anything beside her beauty. Funny how his mind works, the guard went from pretty to beautiful in a matter of minutes. Clearing his throat, he walked over to a large machine over to one corner that was making a strange humming noise. "Now this here is a . . . well it's a. . ." His brows knit together as he tried to think of a way to explain it to her. As smart as Damien was, he was unable to explain anything to others as he tended to make it more complicated sounding rather than simple. "Um it's sort of hard to explain, but I call it the hummer because it's always making that humming noise." Way to go, Damien, you really showed her that you belonged there.

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Wow he was either nervous to be around her....or worried that he shouldn't be telling her these sorts of things. Would he get in trouble for telling her about the work going on? She supposed it could happen. After all it wasn't as though guards were thought to be intelligent enough to understand all this stuff. Most people assumed guards were nothing but shows of muscle and strength. Biting her lip as she followed him she listened to his explanation before nodding and smiling slightly, "You don't have to tell me about this stuff if you could get in trouble about it." Most girls would've thought stuff along the lines of; 'Oh he doesn't even know. Guess the rumors are true...' or even 'Is he dumbing down the explanation because he thinks that I can't handle it?'. Cara on the other hand was far too enamored to think anything that might be a bit insulting. Instead she was thinking more along the lines of should she leave him to his work and was she bothering him. Instead she kinda blurted out the thoughts on her mind. "Are you alright? You seem a bit flustered...." Immediately she wanted to suck the words back inside of her mouth or snatch them from the air and take them back. After all....who said stuff like that? She wasn't his friend now he would feel obligated to either lie to her or confide in her......this was just going great.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Damien scratched his head as he looked upon the machine, trying to figure out a way to explain what it was without overcomplicating it, and not wanting to make it too simple so as not to offend her. She looked rather intelligent, so he was sure she would be able to handle a basic explanation of this machine; moreover it was safer to assume a girl was smart otherwise he might get a slap to the face like last time. Yeah, no, Damien wasn't good with girls at all. He really needed the help. Lots and lots of help. Clearing his throat he was about to start explaining the function of the machine to her, but stopped when she spoke again. "Oh trouble? No no, I mean . . . well I've noticed the other lads bringing girls in here and telling them stuff, so I think this should be okay. I just, you know . . . certain things must stay hush-hush until they provide positive results." Should Damien have said that? Probably not, but too late. Oh well. With a nervous smile, he took a step back at her next question. Was it that easy to tell he was nervous? Well, he was just a jumble of nerves and he wasn't completely sure why. "I-I-I'm fine." Yeah, stutter, that really tells her that your fine. "Just um well . . ." He stumbled for something to say, to show he was fine indeed, but nothing came. With a sigh, Damien rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess I'm a little on edge."

( ˘ ³˘)♥ Jay Uh-huh...... Nodding she couldn't help but notice his stutter. Either Damien was lying to her about not getting in trouble and nervous about his lie. Or he was just nervous in general. Well she didn't believe he would lie to her. At his admission she nodded, "Okay. Ummmm I'm sorry. I must be interfering with what you came here to do." Letting out a short awkward sort of laugh she nodded and stepped back before nodding towards the machine with her chin. "You have fun with the hummer...." Nodding she turned and headed for the door, figuring that he probably came here to just check up on things before going home. No doubt she was being a deterrent in that plan of his. Pausing at the doorway she turned and smiled at him easily, "I know you'll figure out whatever is putting you on edge, so just relax a bit." Smiling she then shut the door and once in the hallway she could hardly keep the grin off her face. She'd just talked to him!
