~RP~ (A small walkover bridge overlooking the river.)

message 2: by Adena (last edited Jun 01, 2013 02:48PM) (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince leaned against the wooden rail of the bridge, watching the water flow underneath it. He wasn't having some profound moment of self-reflection, or contemplating the meaning of his life or anything deep like that. He was just bored. Vince considered messing with Leo - that was always fun - but that required him making an actual effort, which he wasn't in the mood to do. Vince tossed a stick into the water and watched as it floated downstream. Great, he was so desperate for amusement that he had resorted to playing tiddlywinks.

Vince pulled his eyes away from the water and looked around. There really wasn't much to see. The bridge didn't have a great vantage point. He had no idea why he'd stopped here in the first place, it's not like there was much to do. Vince realized how little sense it made to stand here and complain to himself about being bored when he had chosen to stand at possibly one of the most boring places in town. In all honesty, it was quite a nice day. The sun was out, there were fluffy white clouds in the sky, the birds were singing in the trees, and the bees were buzzing in the flower patches. But Vince was never really one for appreciating nature. To him, the sun was too bright and he had to squint to see more than twenty feet away, the clouds could mean impending rain, the birds were too noisy, and he was allergic to bees. So all in all, not such a great day.

Ignoring the laws of gravity, and what would be the determining factor of most people's sanity for that matter, Ariella hopped the rail with a careful precision. Even if she didn't have a power that helped her out with these kind of things, Ariella liked to think she would still be brave enough to do them. By these types of things, she pretty much was thinking of rail-walking. There was nothing but air serving as the wall between her and the smooth water--that, and her lovely little power.

She wasn't using it though, not yet. It was just her fail safe. She wouldn't fall if she lost her balance, she'd be able to catch herself using nothing more than the air around her body. So I guess it's safe to assume that Ariella walked without fear, on the edge of the bridge, no less. She paused near the middle of the bridge, glancing over the edge. The water was moving faster today than usual. She slipped one foot over the edge, wondering how long it would take her shoe to drop to the water's surface.

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince barely even batted an eyelash when Ariella suddenly hopped onto the rail. It took much more than that to surprise him and besides, he had seen much stranger things happen than girls walkig on rails. He glanced up and her as she walked towards him, determined not to move out of the way for her. Why should he, when she could simply use her power to leap gracefully over his head? "Hey," he said, glad for the company, even though is was Ariella Basinette. He was starting to get so bored that pitching himself over the bridge didn't seem like such a bad idea. The fall wouldn't kill him, most likely. "So, are you enjoying defying the laws of physics?" Vince asked. They weren't anything more than aquaintances, but he knew enough about her to know what her power was and she certainly had no problem using it constantly.

Ariella looked up when someone spoke to her, lifting her foot back onto the bridge slowly, as to avoid him noticing it was there in the first place. The last thing she needed was someone spreading rumors she was trying to commit suicide by way of bridge. "I'm not defying physics." she smiled, "If I were, you'd know."

She glanced at-Vince? It was a wonder he was even talking to her, she had never deemed him the type. Especially since he'd displayed knowledge of her personal life--she'd never suspected someone like him to know anything about her. "But despite my lack of defiance," her eyes sparkled, as if her every motion was anything but, "I am enjoying myself, since you asked." Ariella had to smile at the words, she couldn't help herself. As she walked closer to him, she stepped into what one would consider his personal space--since she had suspected him to move away as she passed... he hadn't.

message 6: by Adena (last edited Jun 01, 2013 03:33PM) (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince rolled his eyes. "Technicalities," he said dismissively, turning his attention back to the water. On second thought, maybe he wasn't so glad for her company. Tiddlywinks was suddenly sounding like a very appealing alternative. "Might I suggest going and enjoying yourself somewhere else?" he asked, glancing at her shoe, which was currently only a few inches away from his arm. Vince had to look almost straight up to see her face, and even then, it was shrouded in sunlight, so he couldn't see much. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to have any intentions of leaving. To anyone else, moving out of the way of a noble would seem like a good idea, but Vince was much too prideful for that. She could go around him, whether she used her power or not.

message 7: by rose, SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK (new)

rose (rose33) | 1059 comments Mod
Oh, that was why. He didn't intend on being polite. Ariella thought about obliging his request--leaving. She honestly considered it. She did have better things to do with her day... It really wouldn't be that hard to move over or around him. She could picture the concentration and movements it would take, all she would need to do was place her hand over his head and push off her feet to flip over (you know, because Ariella didn't do anything without flare). "You can suggest it all you want." she remarked, her eyes flaring with irritation in the slightest.

Ari shifted to the side and jumped onto the walking part of the bridge, bumping into him on purpose as she caught her balance. She leaned forward, glancing over the edge. "What are we looking at?" the tone of her voice implied her smile.

((Tis not short :P Worry not, Adena!))

message 8: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince said nothing when she bumped into him, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of revealing his irritation. He was tempted to just leave, but once again, his pride kicked in. It was childish, but he was here first and he wasn't going to give up his spot, no matter how bored he'd been a few minutes ago. Vince shrugged, deciding to entertain her for a while. Contrary to popular belief, he could be civil, he just chose not to most of the time. "Not much," he replied. "The water, I guess. Not that water is particularly interesting. Wet, liquid, reflects the color of the sky, flows through the path of least resistance. Not exactly the most riveting topic of discussion. What are you doing here anyway?" he asked, figuring she'd had a much more interesting day than he had.

"Why don't you like me?" she asked, looming closer. Ariella wasn't sure what had compelled her to ask such a question, maybe it was because she wasn't too thrilled with the idea of answering his. She was constantly asked those types of questions by the Basinette family. Where were you? Where are you going? Who were you with? It was irritating to have such a complete lack of privacy, so the last thing she wanted to do was answer those questions to someone she was obligated to. "You could try do deny it," she paused, bumping him again on cue, "But I'd know you're lying."

message 10: by Adena (last edited Jun 01, 2013 04:18PM) (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vincent looked at her, eyebrow raised. "Who said I didn't like you?" he asked. He showed off his signature smirk. "And don't flatter yourself, I don't like a lot of people," he said. Now that he thought about it, Vince really had no reason not to like her. Sure, she had a bit of a reputation, but then again, so did he. And it wasn't like she had been outright rude to him since she'd appeared at the bridge. "I guess-" he hesitated, thinking through his response. "I guess it's not you in particular, it's your class. I tend not to see eye to eye with Nobles. I'm not the kind of guy who likes to be looked down upon. No offense, but your whole social class practically radiates disgust for anyone below them and it's not like I was born into the Royal Guard," he said. Sure, he wasn't hated nearly as much nowadays, but he had gown up as a farm boy. Vince looked back at the water. "So don't worry, it's nothing personal."

Rolling her eyes, Ariella turned around so she was facing the other way. The fact that he could suggest hatred was a form of flattery... "It's pretty personal to me." she informed him, lifting herself onto the edge of the bridge where she sat. She kicked her feet lightly, turning again so she faced the water. "To be honest, I have no idea what class you're in--so before a moment ago, I had no indication whether or not I should dislike you." Ari smirked, turning to look at him... "Do I look like a noble to you?"

message 13: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince made a show of looking her over carefully. "Hm, guess not," he said with a shrug. "Well, since we seem to have no reason to hate each other, then let's just not. That doesn't mean you're my new best friend, but at least I don't hate you. I think we can settle with a mutual dislike," he said teasingly, giving her an innocent smile. "And I'm part of the Royal Guard, but don't let that get in the way of our newly discovered feelings for each other," he added. Vince was quiet for a moment. "Wait, what did you mean by 'before a moment ago'?" he asked.

Under his scrutiny, Ari's eyes suggested something of you actually looked? After his words though, her smile broke through. She couldn't help it, when he tried he was actually kind of easy to tolerate--when he tried. She looked him over as well, noticing the eyes and his attractiveness--it was hard not to notice. That really wasn't saying anything though, everyone in Porcelain Glass had some amount of beauty, it was the matter of finding what set them apart that was the problem.

"It obviously means I've made my decision." she summed up, leaning forward to look at the water below her feet.

message 15: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) "Oh really?" Vince shrugged, not looking at her and feigning indifference. But his curiosity eventually got the better of him. He shook his head, his lips turned up in a slight smile. He couldn't believe he was giving in. It surpised him how badly he wanted to know her answer. "Fine," he with a sigh as he turned to look at her. "The suspense is killing me. I guess I'm the kind of person actually does care what other people think about them. "What is your all important decision?" Vince hadn't expected her to stay and talk to him for so long, so her thoughts on him couldn't be too bad.

Ariella turned to glance at him, her eyes conveying her amusement at the irony of the situation. Not only five seconds ago, he had pretty much decided upon the fact that she was worth less than the ground he walked on. Then as soon as she shattered his snap-judgement, he was all for getting on her good side. How funny. "The suspense is killing you, hmm?" she allowed him a small smile, still procrastinating her answer. "If I'm just another noble, with whom you don't see eye-to-eye, why does it matter?"

message 17: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince cursed himself inwardly. He should have just kept his big mouth shut. Now he had to answer awkward questions. "It matters because I would feel much more comfortable knowing what someone I don't hate has to say about me," he said. "Your answer may have a major impact on my life and well-being. you just might convince me to change my evil, rotten ways. Can you really, in good conscience, withhold that information and miss the opportunity to change my future?" he said, giving her a grave look.

"The last thing on my mind is your comfort." she dared mention. Ariella wasn't so sure why she was so intent to push him over the edge, but she wanted to know where they stood for some reason. How far could she push him before he rolled his eyes and got irritated? She didn't know, but some part of her kind of wanted to find out.

Ariella made an aweee-you're-so-cute face, and tussled his hair playfully. "Does this face look like it cares about the well-being of a Royal Guard member?" she asked, her eyes alight. "Just kidding, I'm not going to judge you by your class, that would be rude and insensitive of me. I'm sure you're a wonderful guy, completely set apart from the majority-based prejudice you experience by the likes of your social class."

message 19: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vincent knew what she was trying to do and was determined not to give in to his irritation, but he could feel his resolve starting to waver. She was starting to push some buttons. He let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in. "Trust me, you really don't want to start comparing classes," he said, his smirk fading. There was a long list of reasons he disliked the nobles, but he wasn't about to tell Ariella about any of that. He may not hate her, but he wasn't going to share his life story with her.

Vince smoothed down his hair. "Yeah, because you Nobles never give in to majority-based prejudices. Oh, I'm not judging, I'm sure you're just as different from the rest as I am."

Ariella nearly rolled her eyes, but she choose to think about something different besides his words. Sure, their classes might not agree with each other on most things... it's not like that really affected her in any substantial way. Ari didn't like her class, or the people she was forced to share it with. Maybe Vince felt the same way--so what was the use arguing a fight that wasn't hers?

"Okay, you won me over. I can hardly help myself from falling to your undeniable magnetism, no pun intended. You know... since I can't actually fall, when you think about it... technicalities." she wrinkled her nose at her own joke, almost embarrassed. Ariella hadn't ever been good with compliments, hence why she didn't commonly dish them out. She had though, this one time for Vince.

message 21: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince laughed. It wasn't a sound that people normally had the pleasure of hearing. "Undeniable magnetism? Those aren't usually the first words people use to describe my personality. So, thanks. I guess," he said. It was obvious she wasn't used to giving compliments, but then again, he wasn't used to receiving them either. "So, are you going to tell me what you think about me or am I going to have to force it out of you. My first option would be dangling you over the bridge, but as you pointed out, that wouldn't work very well. Like you said, technicalities." Vince shrugged and smiled deviously at her. "Oh well, I guess I'll just have to come up with something else."

"I wouldn't put money on those being the first words, Vince. I'd bank more around third or fourth... possibly the fifth." Ariella grinned down at him, her eyes widening with mock innocence as she spoke--as if her own words were like small surprises to her ears. Sarcasm at its prime. It was a nice change though, to use sarcasm around Vince. For a first time in a long time, Ari wasn't using the tone of voice to be rude. She was having fun with it... having fun with him?

"What more would you like to know? And please, dangle me over the bridge. Everyone needs a little near death experience to lighten up their day, right? I won't even defy physics, promise." upon her words, Ariella leaned backwards, placing her hands on the walkway of the bridge so she was completely upside down in a hand-stand. It's not like she was revealing anything, since Ari was fond of doing random acts of acrobatics, she had long since made it habit to wear some type of pants under the lengthy skirts picked out by her mother.

Once she caught her balance on her hands, she pushed forward and let herself drop--laughing lightly with the action. There was something about falling that made her happy, it was like a new type of freedom most people didn't let themselves experience out of fear.

message 23: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) ((Kay :)))

"Thanks a lot," Vince said dryly, smirking. "The first, second, third, fourth, and fifth words people usually say about me aren't exactly kind," he said. "At least not as endearing as 'undeniable magnetism,'" he said. Vince frowned when Ariella dropped off the rail into a handstand. This girl sure was weird, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. "Oh yeah, I just can't get enough of those near-death experiences. They're what I live for. What could be more thrilling than coming within an inch of my life?" he asked. Vince was kind of just rambling now. He realized that she may not take kindly to him staring at her while her skirts were up around her head, pants or no pants.

Vince averted his eyes and gazed out at the view of the river. He was imagining what she would do if he actually did hang her off the bridge. How would she get back up? He was a smart guy, but how she manipulated the laws of physics to do exactly what she wanted was beyond him. Catching movement in the corner of his eye, Vince looked over in time to see her spring back to her feet. "Well, you're quite the acrobat, aren't you?" Granted, handstands weren't exactly the epitome of gymnastic achievement, but still, how many girls spontaneously did handstands on bridges?

"My pleasure. Besides, undeniable magnetism could mean anything, so don't throw it around too often, lest it looses its first meaning." she pointed out, loving the implications she was actually allowed to use here with him.

It wasn't like she didn't catch his tone of voice, and she didn't blame him. Acrobatics were weird, sure--but she liked doing things other people didn't. It also had something to do with her power. When you weren't in danger of falling face-first into the ground, you tended to become more experienced with walking, you know... not on your feet. What seemed weird to him, felt natural to her. It was kind of just what Ariella did, she had her own sort of flare, whether other people understood it was a new subject entirely. But that's why they were her decisions, others weren't obligated to understand.

"Well you're quite the stiff board, so I suppose we're a perfect match, no?" she paused, jumping onto the edge of the bridge where she had been sitting just moments before. That was the thing you noticed after spending time with Ari for a good length of time outside of her house... she kind of moved around a lot. She couldn't stand to be still. After constantly being reminded to sit still with perfect posture, when one was relinquished of those rules, even for a short while, they broke them consistently to make up for the lapse of time lost. Or at least that's how Ari saw it.

message 25: by Adena (last edited Jun 02, 2013 12:59AM) (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) "I'll keep that in mind. I guess I won't be introducing myself as Vince Manson-Garver: The Boy with Undeniable Magnetism. Now I'll have to rewrite all of my business cards," Vince said, sighing sadly. He watched as she bounced around. It was like she had an endless supply of energy and was trying in vain to use it all up. Just following her movements was tiring. He was relieved when she finally resumed her spot on the edge of the bridge. It was much easier to talk to her when she stayed in one place, though he doubted it would last for very long. Vince was starting to wonder if she had some kind of internal timer that told her when it was time to jump around again.

Vince shrugged. "I guess I am a little stiff. But don't underestimate me, I also have a habit of moving around a lot. I swear, sometimes it's like I'm in two places at once," he said, hinting at his power. Vince wasn't sure if she knew about it, there was no reason for her to take any interest in his particular ability. He kind of hoped she didn't know, he was in the mood to show off a little.

Ariella snorted. "If you're already doing a rewrite, I would say confidently that you were a tad premature in the first place, making the cards with that description, I mean." she paused, replaying her words in her own mind to see if they even made sense. Kind of? She shrugged it off internally, deciding it didn't matter.

She walked along the edge of the bridge as he spoke, much like she had done before. This time though, she didn't really have a purpose, she was kind of just pacing. Most wouldn't considering doing that in this particular place though, but to Ariella, that made it all the more fun. "Two places at once?" she questioned, turning around to look at him. "How is that even pos-"

Ariella didn't finish her sentence, she kinda-sorta-maybe lost her footing and you know... slipped. As in, slipped off the bridge.

((I couldn't think of a reason she would randomly decide to jump, soooo I had her slip. And I didn't know how to RP that smoothly, so I kind of did it awkwardly like an awkward turtle xD Don't hate meee))

message 27: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince was no longer looking at her, he was distracted by a bee that seemed to have taken a liking to him. He wasn't deathly allergic to bee stings, but he had some pretty bad memories of getting stung as a kid and preferred not to get all red and puff up like a balloon in front of Ariella. He considered the annoying little insects to be a personal enemy of his and was attempting to will it away with the mere power of his mind, when he realized that Ariella had asked him a question.

Vince turned to face her just as she lost her balance and tumbled off the side of the bridge. He leaned over the rail as fast as he could and managed to reach out and grab her hand. He didn't have a firm grip and could feel her slipping out of his grasp. Thinking quickly, Vince concentrated and within seconds, a replica of himself appeared beside him and grabbed her other hand. It was only them that he remembered that she power. "Wait a second, I thought you couldn't fall. What happened to enjoying near death experiences? You don't look like you're enjoying yourself very much," he said, still bent over the rail. "Looks like I ended up dangling you off the bridge after all."

Staring up at both of the Vince's in complete bewilderment, Ariella wasn't sure which of the two she was supposed to be giving a sarcastic retort to. She focused on his hands-both? Her mind was completely boggled and she couldn't process this--he might have hinted at it, but that wasn't nearly enough. You couldn't just bust out your doppelganger without preamble and expect someone not to scream. She was a little shocked from actually falling to scream, under normal circumstances she would have.

She stared up at him, her eyes shifting between the two Vince's. Gosh, even one of them had given her a headache, why did there need to be more? "I didn't fall, I slipped." she retaliated, closing her eyes for a moment to imagine herself devoid of gravity--soon weighing nothing. With the force he'd been using to hold her there, it was only too easy for Ari to rebound back to the bridge's edge. She didn't waste time standing there, she jumped down to the actual walkway instantly, not wanting to fall... again.

Ariella wasn't about to explain to him that maybe she had just been a little distracted. "How nice that must have been for both of your you's." she added, rolling her eyes and avoiding his gaze. She couldn't hide her irritation, it wasn't directed at him though. She was mad at herself, how could she make such a stupid mistake? It only worsened the situation that he had been the one to catch her--since the distraction was his fault in the first place. She almost wished she had fallen into the river instead, that would have been less embarrassing.

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince felt her weight disappear as she regained control and let go of her. The surprise on her face as her eyes moved back and forth between him and the duplicate was priceless. Normally, this would be a fantastic time to play the guess the real Vince game, but he got the feeling she wasn't really in the mood for that. Vince was used to the shock that revealing his power produced, but she didn't just look shocked; she looked upset.

"Fine, you slipped. But still, I didn't pin you as the clumsy type," Vince said, momentarily forgetting his doppelgänger. Vince 2.0 just stood there, blankly staring off into the distance. It may be an exact replica of him, but it didn't have the capability to think for itself. No free will whatsoever. "And for your information, dangling you off a bridge wasn't nearly as fun as I expected it to be," he said, leaning against the rail with his back to the river.

Arielle's expression was clearly one of annoyance, but Vince couldn't completely understand the reason behind it. He guessed that she was feeling a little embarrassed or even frustrated about slipping, but she seemed to be blowing this thing way out of proportion. "Hey, are you okay? Don't worry about slipping, it happens to the best of us," he said, in a lame attempt to comfort her. Vince wasn't really known for his nurturing personality, but he could at least try.

He didn't pin her as the clumsy type because she wasn't categorized in that trait. Ariella just wasn't. He might think she was overreacting, but that just proved to her that he wouldn't understand. When you looked at Ari's family, all you saw was three daughters. Each only exceptional by that of obedience, being different in this one way was all Ariella felt she had... when you took that away she was literally left with nothing.

"I'm sorry to disappoint. Maybe next time you could drop me sooner and we could see what happens then?" she responded, her mouth running a couple seconds ahead of her thought process. "Or you just couldn't catch me at all, that might be a unique twist."

Ariella knew why she was acting the way she was, and despite that it wasn't deserved on his part, she honestly couldn't help it. She didn't like the idea of depending on anyone for anything. She wanted to be independent eventually. She wanted to make her way in the world because of her own accomplishments, not those of her class or family name. How was she supposed to do that if she couldn't even walk like a normal person? She knew she should thank him, but Ariella still couldn't seem to meet his eyes.

"It doesn't happen to me." she muttered.

Adena Wright (adenaw) There was clearly something else going on here, but Vince didn't know her well enough to know exactly what that something was and he doubted she'd tell him if she asked. "Do you honestly think that I'd let you fall? Because I wouldn't. It doesn't matter to me whether you can defy physics or not, I still would have caught you," he said. "If you seriously think that I find pleasure in dangling pretty young women off of bridges, then you clearly don't understand sarcasm," he said with a smile.

"It might not have happened to you before," Vince said, his smile fading. "But it just did. I have some idea of the kind of standards your family upholds, but take it from me: humans mess up. And I'd much rather be human than perfect." Vince looked over at his duplicate and it walked over and stood next to him. "Exhibit A. You could either be my unfeeling, completely submissive and unswervingly obedient friend right here," he said, gesturing to Vince 2.0, who was still staring blanking ahead. "Or you could be the incredibly attractive, annoyingly sarcastic, guy with undeniable magnetism," he said, gesturing to himself. "I think I know who I'd choose."

Making a face, one could gather Ariella wasn't really into those types of compliments. She worked hard not to wrinkle her nose--a tell of her confusion. She could understand though, how he could so blatantly say everything he wanted to. It like he had no boundaries, no limitations; he was free? Maybe that was the right word. "I don't know you very well, Vince. I don't know what you do in your spare time. After today's events, I can't really say your record is helping your cause." She responded, not missing a beat.

Ariella collected her composure quickly after her outbursts, in her family it was one of those things you learnt to do at a young age. It wasn't that she was over though, it was just her hiding her feelings because having them couldn't change anything.

At his words, Ari cast her gaze to the river. He didn't really waste time with false comforts... She liked and disliked that fact that he seemed to tell everything just as it was. "I don't know, I kind of like your other half. All the attraction, none of the mouth." She retaliated, not being serious. Haha, right?

message 34: by Adena (new)

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince shrugged. "Well then you're going to have to trust that I'm telling the truth," he said. Either she'd missed the part about him calling her pretty, or she just didn't care. He was leaning towards the second option. She had just slipped an fallen off a bridge and she was telling him that his record wasn't helping? "I guess we both did things that are a little out of character today," he said. Actually, just standing there and talking to her for this long was out of character. Vince wasn't quite sure what it was about her that made him not want to leave. Maybe she was the one with undeniable magnetism.

"Hm, I guess you have a point," Vince conceded. "But you're not completely correct. He has the exact same mouth that I do." This time, the replica spoke. "Feel free to dangle me off the bridge if that would make you feel better." The real Vince smirked. "See, you get double the charm. Seriously though," he said, his replica fading and vansishing. "Are you alright?" he asked, looking at her. For some reason, he felt it was his responsibility to ensure her happiness.

Ariella rolled her eyes at he idea of trusting him. Yeah, right, that was going on her bucket list. She couldn't think of a good reason not to, she just wasn't compelled enough. She could think of more negatives in the inevitable outcome of trusting him. As she looked at him, Ari realized he was exactly the type of boy mothers warned their daughters to be careful around--he was a heartbreaker? She thought that might have been the expression used. Who knew, it's not like her mom had ever dished out anything useful.

She leaned against the bridge, watching him with a half amused sort of demeanor. "If only. I was almost convinced your stunt double was somewhat tolerable." She relinquished, a mock disappointment coloring her tone. Ariella's posture changed visibly when he asked her if she was okay. She stood straighter and played with a piece of her hair, feigning innocence. "I should probably go. I have... Things to attend to."

Adena Wright (adenaw) "I apologize for not being as tolerable as my double," Vince said. "I promise I'll try harder from now on." He turned around so that he was facing the river again. He looked over at Ariella and noticed her sudden mood change. This girl really was hard to keep up with. And she still hadn't answered his question, though that didn't surprise him. He watched as she twisted a strand of hair around her fingers. "Things to attend to? That sounds intriguingly vague," he said with a smirk. "I'm guessing you're not going to tell me what those are, so I won't ask questions. You nobles and your attending to things," he said. He kept his tone lighthearted, his words not intended as an insult. "Well, if you must," he said with a shrug. "It's been a pleasure not hating you, Ariella."

Next time? Ariella grinned.

"It's not about being vague, it's more along the lines of potential embarrassment." She informed him, gathering her bearings as she prepared to walk away. She found herself procrastinating the action, even though she knew she had to leave, she wasn't so eager to walk away yet. "If you must know, I'm being plagued with etiquette practice." She paused, her lips twitching with a smile. "I imagine being late is going to be my first lesson."

Yeah. That's the way her parents worked. If you nonchalantly implied to your dinner guest their child was not only unappealing, but he lacked the competence to even ask for her hand in marriage, that was in some way considered rude. Ariella didn't see how... She thought that had been the polite way to deny his request. Evidently not?

Therefore her punishment? Etiquette Class. Arielle's opinion? Worth it.

"Don't lie." She chided, turning her head to glance back at him as she began walking away. "I know I've grown on you. After all, you dangled me over a bridge. I'm starting to gather that's how you show your affection. Some type of terms of endearment, no?"

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince laughed. He could only imagine what kind of horribly I dignified thing she could have done to land her in Etiquette Class. The possibilities were endless. "Well I imagine if your parents ever heard about what happened today, you'd spend the rest of your life in Etiquette Class," he said. He doubted they'd approve of her walking along rails and doing handstands while talking to some potentially dangerous boy from the Royal Guard. Living life on the wild side and all that jazz. "Maybe I should go to the class with you. Unfortunately, I'm plagued with the curse of having an awful sense of time, as so many people tend to point out. But I don't see anything wrong with being fashionably late. Sure, I might show up when everyone is leaving, but I usually have a semi-decent excuse- I mean reason for being late," he said.

"It's like you can read the innermost feelings of my soul," Vince said. "Wait, is that not the customary method in which one shows affection for another? I had no idea," he said. "I guess I've been doing it wrong all of these years." Vince was just as reluctant for her to leave as she seemed to be.

Ariella nodded, tilting her head to the side thoughtfully. "Yeah, well I guess I just won't tell them, now will I?" In truth, someone else was bound to relay the message... that's usually how it worked. She did something, then as soon as she got home they knew. It's like seriously, word traveled faster than she could run into her room like she'd been there the whole time. "I'm always punctual." she told him, the sarcasm obvious in her smile and eyes.

Taking another step, Ariella knew that now she really had to go. If she didn't stop talking to him now, she'd get sucked into an entirely new conversation and talk to him for another hour. "Try not to dangle too many other girls of bridges, yeah?" she laughed, meeting his eyes for a millisecond. "Goodbye, Vince."

Adena Wright (adenaw) Vince returned her smile. "I promise I'll try to do my best," he said with a laugh. "Goodbye, Ariella," he said, watching as she walked away. Maybe he should come to the bridge more often. Vince looked out at the river for a couple more minutes before walking off in the opposite direction that Ariella had gone in. He hadn't just been wandering around town and ended up at the bridge. No, the bridge had been a welcome distraction from his real destination. He had to go find his sister.

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Azlynn found herself crossing the bridge, getting around the crowd of people, as she went. It wasn't extremely crowded as it was on most days. But it was crowded enough that she was able to slip the escort her parents assigned her and she could lose her in the crowd. Though if it were up to Azlynn, she would have chosen to just jump into the water. The cool, refreshing water. Though she knew if her parents found out, there would be no end to the "it's not ladylike" speech. Of course, to her parents she was the perfect young woman. Though, if they saw all the shenanigans she did, she was sure it would kill them of shock.

message 42: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Azlynn felt some force run into her, pushing her back and almost knocking her to the ground. But after a few off balance steps she was fine. After regaining her balance she saw who the culprit of knocking her over way. Normally she would have slapped the idiot who had gotten in her way, but after seeing who it was, she kept her hand to herself. Given their situation now, it would completely "unladylike" not to mention she didn't feel like giving him the satisfaction. Azlynn knew of Cameron and vaguely actually knew him. Besides the dinner parties held by their parents, she had no contact with him. Bit she knew of his womanizing lifestyle. In fact, at a few of the parties he attempted to flirt with her. Only she didn't put up with his shenanigans. Why her parents paired her up with this ass, she didn't know. But there was no changing the system. "Hello, Cameron. Oh, excuse me. I meant husband to be. Pleasure seeing you here." She said in a bored tone, as she fixed her dress.

message 43: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ "No one told me until just an hour before." Azlynn said with a shrug. Turning and moving more towards the rail of the bridge. So she wouldn't be in anyone's way and not get shoved around. Not that anyone would dare. Seeing she was a noble. It wouldn't end decently for the person who would dare such a thing. She looked out towards the water, near the edge of her vision of it. Focusing on the water, she removes thoughts of Cameron from her mind. Which was easy enough, normally. But being engaged to him was a different story. Her thoughts couldn't get over the fact that of all people her parents chose him as her husband. Though the expression on his face when she told him was priceless. Enough to bring the smallest of smirks on her face.

message 44: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ "I really, don't care what you do Cameron. You can go about your ways. Bed as many women as you wish. But don't expect to share a bed with me if you chose to go about as you are." She said with the simplest of shrugs. The meaning of her words were pretty clear cut. Though the language of her actual thoughts for it was far more colorful. "It's all up to you." Azylnn said, waiting for a response.

message 45: by Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ (new)

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ "If you stop whoring around? It might be considered." Azlynn replied calmly, knowing that perhaps it wouldn't be that simple of a decision. "As if we do share a bed together. Then that we will be the only ones sharing a bed." She added. In other words he better be serious about which decision he would make, for if he weren't to be a loyal husband, then what would keep her from doing what she wanted as well? It really was all up to Cameron.
