I read it! And love it! That is a 5 stars for me.I can't explain again why I love this book but you can find out in my review, here: The 5th wave review
Decent read for me but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. Loved Zombie the most! But the plot didn't really offer anything new which made me sad :(
Interesting- your review definitely made sense. At least my expectations will be a bit lower- so it will impress me more or depress me less!
I agree Sapir, I had a very similar response to the book. Too much hype and trying to be what everyone expects, and not enough originality. Shame really
I'm reading right now, and I agree, not living up to the hype. I was lucky enough to meet the author at an event and he's a great guy, but there's just so many unrealistic and unnecessary mistakes in this novel so far.
Agreed, I think the publisher might have been driving some plot decisions to make it a blockbuster success. But I've heard his Monstrumentalist series is way better so I might check that our :)
I'm glad to hear other people had thoughts similar to mine. I will say it was worth the read, just not what I was expecting. Here's my review. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...
Wow, lots of my excitement for this book has pretty much disappeared...at least I now have lower expectations!!
Exactly what I'm thinking- especially considering my earlier expectations required this book to be completely perfect! :p
I was really looking forward to it, but i was really let down. I found it boring and confusing in alot of areas.
There's a very intense debate about The 5th Wave here, if anyone's interested: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Thanks I read thought the whole thing and almost joined the group just to take your side, but I have way too many groups already :P But I agree with most of what you said!
Well hmmm, just read Sapir & David's thoughts so guess I will not have too high expectations....thx for the tips y'all ;) B
Oh don't worry, you may love it! A lot of people have :) I think it was just overhyped and so it felt like a let down for me. But it wasn't a bad book or anything, still a fun read! Enjoy ;)

I am currently reading it and so far the book has been pretty amazing. I love the way Rick Yancey writes and how the story is well led ! I really think this book is going to be my favorite book of 2013 !!! If you haven't read it yet, you should because you really are missing something. (Sorry if my english is bad, I am French)
That's so cool Melody (that you're French); I never would have guessed since your English is perfect! That's awesome, I've heard so many conflicting reviews of this book now!

I was just in Paris for a wedding and everyone was so nice and welcoming :)
