Please help fix this book

Okay so...

The book is CASTAWAY by James Gould Cozzens, initially published in 1934. There are 3 editions on Goodreads under that name

Castaway

isbns of:

0151159971 (9780151159970)

0156154501 (9780929587172)

and one without an ISBN

None of these 3 is the edition that I own, a paperback published by Elephant Paperbacks in 1989 with an ISBN of 0929587170 as CASTAWAY: A NOVEL

When I went to create a record for this book it told me this ISBN was already assigned to Means and Ends in American Abolitionism: Garrison and His Critics on Strategy and Tactics, 1834-1850 - although that book is listed with an ISBN of 0929587162 (9780929587165)....

Not knowing what to do, I made CASTAWAY: A NOVEL an edition of MEANS AND ENDS, which was the only thing I could do, even though that isn't really correct.

I've been a Librarian for a while now, mostly adding contributors to anthologies, but I don;t think I can fix this problem - I think it has something to do with the initial way MEANS AND ENDS was entered. If someone needs to kill the CASTAWAY: A NOVEL edition of MEANS AND ENDS I created, that's fine, but please recreate it as an edition of the basic CASTAWAY record - I can't make it happen.

Just be careful in future. Sometimes ISBN's are reused, and if this happens to ever be the case just make a new edition without isbn and leave a librarian note.
