This triva fact I'd from the book: Merry's name was almost Marmaduke O_o There's also a comic strip dog named Marmaduke, so that would have caused confusion. I'm so glad Tolkien changed his mind on that one.

I have a few: I know I said it before somewhere else but when Gollum spits at the food in The Two Towers that was Andy Serkis's real spit.Viggo broke his tooth while sword fighting and wanted to glue it back on to avoid stopping film.
Andy Serkis accidentally ripped off Sean Astin's wig in The Two Towers "They catch you!" scene take.
John-Rys (not sure on spelling or full name) who plays Gimli is missing nearly half of his middle finger. (I belive on his left hand)
While filming the Grey Havens scene, Sean Astin was wearing the wrong vest the whole time while filming, and he didn't notice until after the scene was finished. So they had to go back and start all over again on that scene :P

When billy first met Orlando Bloom billy said that he looked elf-like. And since it was Billy's birthday the had some champagne on the plane. When they crossed to the new time zone; it was his birthday again so they had more champagne. Where pippin sings to Denethor, that was the first take. Billy said to Peter that he had a song ready. What you see is the first take.
When the Hobbits enter Bree, right after the wheel of the carriage passes in front of them, there is a man you see to the right who's holding a carrot and burps. That is Peter Jackson making a cameo appearance.

Andy Serkis based the Gollum voice off of what noise his cats made when they had a hairball.

This is a trivia fact about the fandom. Did you guys know that Nickelodeon star Jennette Mccurdy is a Lord of the Rings fan? It's been confirmed that she's read the book and Elijah Wood is her favorite actor from the movies :) And get this, her character's name is Sam. Well, there's also the Sam from LOTR. Coincidence much? :P On a more serious note, to me its awesome that she's a fan.

Christopher Lee was the only lotr actor to have met Tolkien. Christopher Lee was such a big fan of the books that he could barely speak when he met Tolkien

I watched a video online that said while they where filming the part in The Two Towers and Aragorn kicks the orc head away from the burning pile of corpses he actually broke his toe while kicking one time and screamed out in pain, that clip is the part they used for the movie!:)
