The book I'm eagerly awaiting is
. I loved The Terror. And I am very interested in Everest. Can't wait to read this book!

I am in the middle of THE TERROR, and I love how well Simmons is pulling me out of my tiny little town in the middle of the US, in the beginning months of summer, and is dropping me smack dap in the middle of the polar region in 1847! I'm a longtime fan of Simmons, but I have to say he has never been this good at placing the reader right in the situation.
The Terror was my first Simmons and I absolutely loved it.
I had to get past the first 100 pages too. And I almost gave up before then. I'm glad I kept with it.

But move past that first point of finding the hole is the ship leading into the ice, and it gets moving. I am slowly becoming very interested/obsessed with this whole arctic expedition thing that was going on. Those guys were friggin' crazy.
It got better for me when I saw how the timelines fit together. My major problem starting the book was in the first chapter everything is already happening. But there is a pattern to the chapters. And I enjoyed it more when I figured out what it was.

I also am finding it easy to read due to loving the character of Crozier.

Of course, I'll need about 100K to get it.....
