I've really enjoyed books by Gillian Flynn and Tana French. Can anyone recommend similar authors? I like their writing styles, and the way the books focus on disturbing relationships and psychological background of characters.

Jennifer McMahon

Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson.

If you haven't yet checked out Belinda Bauer that might be an idea.

Follow You Home by Mark Edwards was a great psychological thriller I think you'd enjoy.

Horns by Joe Hill is fantastic.

Check out Laura Lippman. I haven't read her Tess Monaghan series yet, but just about every other book is really good.

You got some excellent suggestions here. Some of my favs are: Jennifer McMahon, John Searles (Help for the Haunted), SJ Watson (Before I Go To Sleep), The Never List (although ending went a little crazy), Rosamund Lupton (Sister), Mary Kubica (The Good Girl), Emma Chapman (How to be a Good Wife), Heather Gaudenkauf, Carla Norton (The Edge of Notmal). Claire Kendal (The Book of You), Jessica Ruston (The Lies You Told Me) & Karen Brown (The Longings of Wayward Girls). Hope this helps! :)

I haven't read French. Thanks for the recommendation. On my end, I place Flynn in the same category as Donna Tartt and Patricia Highsmith. It's a bias but both of these women authors strike me as being far more adept than Flynn. Secret History is chilling.

I recently read Mother, Mother Which reminded me a lot of Sharp Objects. I wasn't wowed by it but the writing style is very similar to Gillian Flynn.

The Never List is one I can recommend.

I would highly recommend Thomas Harris. If you haven't read Hannibal, Silence of the lambs, very chilling. "We need to talk about Kevin", by Lionel Shriver is an amazing book. Don't watch the movie it isn't nearly as gripping.

Out of Denmark, Willow Rose. She has a series with a female journalist named Rebekka Frank. The series is well done and the books are a quick read. The first book in the series is One, Two, he's coming for you...

Heather Gudenkauf and Michael Prescott books are very fast paced thrillers.

Jack Ketchum

Dean Koontz

You may enjoy Chevy Stevens books. Still Missing and Never Knowing.
