Sara Steinbeck knows what the heart of the matter is and has no problem facing it directly. There is a kind of poetry in his style and all of his characters have enough depth to seem real and complete.

D.J. Adamson What I like about Steinbeck is that he knows and writes about common man's loneliness, desire for better, using subjects and characters all readers can relate to in their lives.

I read somewhere that she was. Not card-carrying, but philosophically. Check out Benson's biography of J.S. or Jay Parini's.
