The "classics"

I recently joined Goodreads and I am having a great time. I have already gleaned many great ideas for books to read, and enjoyed lots of fond memories of books that I forgot that I have read! In any case, I have a question/problem regarding the "classics" category for recommendations. I happened to put on my "have read" list a couple of children's books. Now my classics category is flooded with recommendations for children's books. Certainly some of these books are classic, in some definition of the word. However, I have no desire to go back and read "Each Peach Pear Plum". I am sure it is great, but not quite age-appropriate for a man in his early 40's. Is it possible to set up filters for categories? And what do other people think about the categories and what gets recommended? Any other grumbles about this? let me know....
