I can't believe I'm helping, but what the hell! Hope this arrives in time to help. But the commercial is effective because it connects the struggle of people in Detroit to maintain a living and their industry in the face of outsourcing and downsizing over the years. The American automotive industry began outsourcing its manufacturing plants beginning in the early 80's and this had a devastating effect on Detroit - aka. Motor City - and Michigan, where people depended on those jobs.

The song by Eminem in the background is also key because he's from Detroit, and the song of his is from the movie 8 Mile which was all about his overcoming the disadvantages of being born in Michigan and rising to fame through rap. Between that and the actor talking about how the town of Detroit and GM Motors have both striven to overcome, you've got a powerful message that talks about surviving and makes people think the company is still strong despite all its setbacks and failures.

guys and girls... I don't quite know what this topic has got to do with Game of Thrones, or quite frankly, with the set-up of this site... so please, next time you want help on you're homework, there's plenty of sites for that other than Goodreads!

But I can understand that Jon's comment came over a bit harsh, although he's got a point!
