Below is the process for selecting our Book of the Months (BOTM) for 2014.

We will have 1 selection each month.

This book will be selected from an open nomination process. Any book may be nominated as long as it meets the group's BOM nomination criteria*. The first 15 books that have seconded and third nominations will be eligible for being voted on by the membership via a poll. The book with the highest amount of votes will be one of our Books of the Months.

*BOM Nomination Criteria:

All books nominated must be listed in our group under our ARR Program or have been listed in the past under Completed ARR Books.

Please do NOT nominate a book that is part of a series unless it is the first book (at the moderator's discretion)

Nominated books should not have recently been a BOTM. You should check the Book of the Month group bookshelf to make sure the book you nominate has not already been a group read.

Authors if your book wins the BOTM you may contact one of the mod's if you’re interested in giving the members it for free with the condition they will write a review.

Any other questions leave us a message below.

Just got done reading this and was surprised that I enjoyed it a lot, since I don't read Zombie-like books often. Loved it.

Tim Carter (timcarter) | 7 comments Hello Tana, can you or anyone who knows it please post links to everything you mention?
Newbies here like myself struggle to find what you're talking about.
Eg. you wrote: "All books nominated must be listed in our group under our ARR Program or have been listed in the past under Completed ARR Books."

Where is that "listing under ARR Program" page?
Where is that "Completed ARR Books" page?

Above you linked: ARR: Authors Requesting Reviews
Do you mean ANY book someone requested a review for is eligible for nomination, or what?

Tim
PS: I am NOT on facebook as I find it too fiddly, I hoped goodreads is easier? ;-)

Hi Tim if you scroll through the group you will see genre's listed and under each genre is a list of book titles. These are the books in our group that are looking for reviews. Closer to the bottom of the groups page there is a thread called completed ARR Books these are book that have been listed but are closed now because the number of reviewers requests have been met.

These are the books that are eligible for our Book of the Month. (ARR & ARR Completed.)

Brian (coloradomandala) | 26 comments Last year's June Book of the Month nominated for contest: Please VOTE for COLORADO MANDALA on Monday the 17th
Some delightful news from InD'tale Magazine. Please join this website (it's easy) and on Monday VOTE FOR COLORADO MANDALA. This would provide a tremendous lift for both me, and the title. I humbly ask your assistance. Here is my nomination notifacation:

"Because your book, Colorado Mandala, received the high review rating of a 4 star or better, it has continued to the second, public voting phase for the 2014 RONE Awards. In this phase the readers will be narrowing down the contestants to 4 - 6 finalists in each genre by choosing the books they love best.

This is to inform you that your book’s genre is open for voting from March 17-23,2014! It will only be open for votes for exactly one week, so it is extremely important that you let all your friends and fans know! We would hate to think a superior quality book was lost only because people were unaware of the time limit, so we are including the link for voting so you can pass it along!

http://indtale.com/2014-rone-awards-w...

The finalists in this round will then be read and judged by a group of professionals in the industry to determine the very best in indie and small published books of 2013. They will then be awarded the prestigious RONE award, itself, at the formal ceremonies, July 11th, at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As you can tell, we at InD’tale magazine went to extensive labor to create and present the most credible and prestigious award in the industry today. Our three round system of elimination covers every facet - highly reviewed, loved by fans, and critiqued by qualified judges. No other award system today begins to compare, making the RONE award the very highest of honors bestowed on a book in the publishing industry.

Thank you so much for submitting your wonderful book to InD’tale magazine and good luck!"

Willow (goodreadscomwillow_rose) | 5 comments Hi Tana! I joined this group about a month ago and was in hospital; I am finally free (razor wire is as sharp as it looks)and am really overwhelmed with time management priorities; I still have to take it easy which is just not going to happen (maybe I will stop to eat and sleep after two days rather than four).

First, this is an amazing group and the best kept secret for any aspiring writer; I mean I will encourage all my friends, both of them, to join and contribute before, long before, they have anything published. It seems to me that is the way a community of creative writers works; am I correct? The opportunities are extraordinary; I have read through all the information several times and am more impressed each time.
Could you please recommend what strategy you would take so you could become an integral part of this group and help and be helped as much as possible?

It seems to me that ARR (authors requesting reviews) would be the best place to start after becoming familiar with the different genres, am I right?

I would think the importance of reviewing other authors is paramount.I found Ann's advice about reviewing so helpful. I review books for my friends as they have labored so hard to create what is really like a child to them, to all of us who write. I am very honest; as an English professor now slowing down a bit, I taught in the projects as well as College Composition courses and know the importance of being honest as well as kind.

Once a book has been reviewed it is eligible to become the BOTM (Book of the Month)correct?
I just realized I am not current at all; this is just where I stopped to ask what you would do first and how you would allocate your time. I would find the current date and start all over after deleting this but that is why I have time management problems, as you can imagine!

Since it is April 17, I should probably focus on May events, shouldn't I? This is a wonderful resource for writers; I hope to contribute as much as possible in the future! Thank you for your time.

Cheers,
willow

Hi Willow

My advice is to join in the conversation with other members, authors ect.

To have your book nominated in our book of the month; all that is required is to have your book listed in our making connections groups. There are three, Making Connections, Making Connections YA Edition and Making Connection New Adult Edition. Its not about if the book has been reviewed.

Basically the group is about making connections with others of course. I hope that answered everything.

It is totally up to you if you want to review other books in the group. Of course I want everyone to read each others books authors or member.

Have fun
Tana

Jacqueline Driggers (jacquelined) Is there any way to opt out of the messages about this, other than leaving the group?

You need to change your settings for receiving messages from this group by selecting "Nothing".
