message 2: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (lisettep) i've only read kelley armstrong's the summoning and the awakening, i should really read her other books :) they sound pretty good :D

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

hi Lisette
oh wow, u've alread The awakening i thought that comes out on the 28th. any good?

yh the other books are really great. seen as u've already read the Darkest Powers series, u should really check out The Otherworld series coz thats where it originated from. same World but different characters and its more of an adult read whereas Summoning in for Young Adults.

oh and thanx for joining. hope you enjoy!

message 4: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (lisettep) yeah it does come out the 28th if you want to know what i thought about it go here:

http://tvandbookaddict.blogspot.com/2...

yeah i know the otherworld series if geared more towards adults. hmm i really need to read them!

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

wow, that review's got me really excited now, cant wait to read it.

message 6: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (lisettep) :D It's really good! I can't wait for the third and final book (!!!!!)

which one's your favorite character?

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

ummm...probably Derek. he interests me, i'm still not sure about simon though and your right i would prefer chloe to date derek than simon. however derek is a werewolf so he's gonna have some issues.

message 8: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (lisettep) yeah he is gonna have some issues but either way i like him more he's just awesome! and even though he acts the way he acts, it's for good reason so i forgive that haha

i'm not a fan of simon he's just kinda there

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

yh. cant wait for him to finally change (unless that already happens in bk 2...(dnt tell me))

simons ok. i bet that in the end one of the Cabals come along and recruite the kids. its jus typical of them.

(btw, u may want 2 continue this discussion in the Darkest Powers section)
thanx!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

ooooo..wait, do you know who the Cabals are? i dnt know if they're mentioned in this series

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Hey, guys! I'm Nichole. Thanks for inviting me to the group, Sarah! So far I've only read Bitten (just finished it a few days ago, actually), but I liked it a lot and have the next two books in the series planned to read in May. Hopefully I'll become just as big of a Kelley Armstrong fan as the rest of you!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

thats good to hear. although i dnt know how you can wait that long to read the nxt book after bitten, i had to jump straight onto Stolen coz the suspence wwas killin me. anyway i hope you manage to read it and enjoy it..things start to get really interesting in Stolen.
:D

message 13: by Angie (new)

Angie Hello! I'm Angie. I love every Kelley book and read all the stories she puts on her website. It was Bitten that introduced me to paranormal fiction and now can't get enough, so my husband blames her for the piles of books in our house! :)

A bit slow getting over here to introduce myself, but "hello"!

Read Bitten and Stolen back to back last year, but then took a break when the narrator changed. Read Dime Store Magic earlier this month though, and am getting back into the series. Also read The Summoning, and just got my copy of The Awakening. I've loved everything I've read so far!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 83 comments Mod
Oh, and to weigh in on the discussion, Derek definitely gets my vote as well. I like Simon, but Derek is much more intriguing. I've enjoyed reading their back story that she's been posting on her blog.

Welcome, Kelly. Do you have a favorite series of Kelley Armstrong's?

message 18: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Sermeno (twitterpated) | 11 comments I've only read the women of the otherworld. I want to read her other ones she's written. It's on my very long list of to-read. but I love the Woman of the Otherworld series and I thought the Men's version she released was really really interesting to learn the backstories and cool to 'hear' from the men.

message 19: by Suncani (new)

Suncani Hi , I'm Emma. Just discovered this group and thought I'd join. I love women of the otherworld but the nadia stafford books are in the towering mountain that is my TBR pile. I'm really looking forward to the new book Frostbitten as Elena is my favourite narrator.

Anna Katharine (kathylamellas) | 1 comments Hi there! I'm Kathy and I've just discovered this group! I apologize for any mistake thay I'll problably make... English is not my first language.

I've read Bitten, Stolen and I have to say that I'm in love with it! I can't wait to start reading the next one!

I hope I'll make some good friends in here.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Kathy and Emi226. its good to see new ppl joining our group. i hope you enjoy it and feel free to participate in any discussion or start your own. we're all keen to hear about what you think/

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

So I've started a new Folder to discuss books by other similar authors to kelley armstrong because there are many good books out there. Make sure you add the author you really like but is still in the same genre as the KA books.

message 23: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Hello my fellow Kelley Armstong fans!:) I'm really glad I found this group as I do like Kelley! I really loved Bitten and Stolen, had a hard time getting into Dime Store & Industrial Magic, hoping Haunted is good...

message 24: by Graham (new)

Graham | 1 comments Hi all :) I've only recently gotten into the Good Reads thing so go easy on me ;)

I've read all of the Women of the Otherworld books except the last one so far, and I've read Exit Strategy and The Summoning. Found Kelley Armstrong purely by accident with Stolen, but glad I did :)

message 25: by Stella (new)

Stella (stella_exlibris) | 11 comments Hey Everyone, I just stumbled upon this group and since I love Kelley Armstrong's writing, couldn't be happier that there is a reading group dedicated to her novels! :-)

I discovered Kelley Armstrong's books a year ago, when I stumbled upon the first urban mystery book I read, and after that I tried to fuind more in the genre, and I came across KA's books by chance. I immediately fell in love with Bitten, it had the most amazing writing style from all the other fantasy/urban fantasy novels. Since then I read all the other Otherworld series books, up til Broken. I also have No Humans Involved, which is right on top of my TBR pile. I'm also curious about the Nadia Stafford books, the setting sounds great: an ex-cop hardass hitwoman :-)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Amy | 9 comments Hi everyone :D My name is Amy and I am from New York. I actually stumbled upon Bitten in Barnes and Nobles one day because I was bored and I wanted a new book. This was about the middle of September. Well I had never heard of Kelley Armstrong and by reading the back of Bitten, I figured 'tis the season for werewolves and zombies (I had picked up Pride Prejudice and Zombies that night as well) Well by the time I finished Bitten I was really hooked and I looked online and was pleasantly surprised she had written not just one more book, but a whole series of books! I promptly gobbled them all up and I just finished Frostbitten. I recently joined goodreads.com and I wanted to see if there were any groups associated with the women of the otherworld ... and here I am. Well, thats my story and I'm sticking to it :D

James Gouldsborough (jamesgoldygouldsborough) | 7 comments Hi my name is James im 23 from england. I had no money 1 month and decided to visit my local library. On doing so it took me hours to find a book that seemed interesting. I picked up bitten without reading the back along with Kitty and the midnight hour and took them home. Mainly flustered with seeing nothing readable.

Been hooked on both series since. Typical. The books i spend the least time looking at were the ones i wanted to spend more time reading.

Hello everyone!

I love the Women of the Otherworld series and I am so excited to read Savannah's story in September (I actually pre-ordered a copy of Waking The Witch from the local bookstore!)

I love all the character's although the tigress in me loves Clay and the geek in my loves Lucas and the bad girl in my would love to take a chunk out of Marsten... lol

I am starting her YA series when I have August off from school.

Kate Taylor (katetj) Hi everyone!
I've been eyeing Bitten for months but started reading The Darkest Powers Trilogy first, and then finally bought Bitten last week and devoured it in two days, I've gone out and bought them all now and am currently on the fourth.

message 43: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (kpssart) | 7 comments Hi, I'm Kathy. I have loved every book in the 'Otherworld series'. My favourite characters are Clay and Elena. I can't wait for the next book Frostbitten. I've introduced my sister to Bitten and Stolen. And she's loving it.

Ang -PNR Book Lover Reviews (pnrbookloverreviews) Hey Kpssart, i too have recently read Bitten i loved it!!
So i went out and brought them all apart from Frost bitten..lol. i think Clay and Elena a so great...

message 45: by Amy (new)

Amy | 9 comments I had to have Frostbitten ... so I got it shortly after it came out ... I have to say, I really enjoyed reading it. And the best part about it is that I feel KA left herself enough play room to write another Elena/Clay/twins book in the future. So I am excited :D

message 46: by Kat (new)

Kat Casually_Coastal_ | 2 comments hi im kat! i love the darkest powers and just finished, the reckoning yesterday!! i just got bitten and am excited to see what happens. :D

i know you may be bias, but should i start reading here books?

message 48: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (kpssart) | 7 comments Bitten is a great place to start. Enjoy

message 49: by Sonya (new)

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 2 comments I spent a couple of months reading KA's other world and darkest powers series....I am hooked and went through withdrawal after. I love the fact that the books have diff main characters in the other world...There was just one that I didnt like as well as the others. I am now trying to read exit strategy but just havent gotten there. Kinda like Charlaine Harris and her Aurora Teagarden series...just isnt the True Blood ......I guess the writing is different. But maybe I will pick it up another day and just love it ...who knows!

message 50: by Frankie (last edited May 12, 2010 02:13PM) (new)

Frankie | 39 comments thank you both replying.
i'm going town this weekend, so i'm going to buy some of her books, since amzon only sell used copies.

i looked up exit strategy, and it diddn't appeal to me at all, and it seemed so completely different to all her other books.

ps. i love your profile picture sonya
