Brandi Blue (blueix) | 6 comments I read an article recently about this book, so I think it's fairly new. I thought it was called something like "poor little rich orphan" or something like that, but searches are coming up empty.
It's an autobiography, I believe - about a girl raised by extended family in a rundown mansion they'd inherited? The adults in her life gave her no structure, they were all wrapped up in parties and drugs... Artists, or washed-up rockstars or something? I seem to think it was in/around New York State? Maybe something about an aunt giving her violin lessons?

Jaina Rose (ireadtilldawn) | 52 comments Hmm. The only thing I can think of is I Capture the Castle, but the only thing that really fits is the mansion part. It's in diary format, not a real biography.

This book reminds me of a book I read and re-read as a 12-year old...Traveler From a Small Kingdom. It was also about the changing fortunes of a wealthy family where the children were largely orphans in their own homes. In one scene, two girls are trying to decide how to cook raw beets for supper to feed their father after the cook left.
