I should be finishing up an audiobook today, too. I haven't even looked at where it could go, though.

message 152: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Well my friend ended up coming with me on my errands so no audiobook in so far. But I still plan on cleaning today so should be able to finish it anyway.

message 153: by Imke (new)

Imke (immie75) Finished my first book for the 7% challenge today.

Stille zonde by Karin Slaughter Stille zonde (Unseen) by Karin Slaughter

Posted in the finished thread with categories.

Woohoo! Congrats, Imke & Sarah, on finishing your books.

message 155: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 135 comments I'll have another one here shortly - The Orchardist. Not sure what to start next. Life After Life or Let's Pretend This Never Happened.

message 156: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) I have one disc left on my audiobook Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend and about 100 pages left of Memoirs of a Geisha. Apparently I like books with Memoirs in the title.

I was just thinking that when I read this post and now I know what I will start today Let's Pretend This Never Happened A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir. I could use a little humor right about now. Also will start my buddy read for We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver - but unfortunately it is another group so won't fit BR category.

message 158: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Sarah it would be easier for me if you finished Let's Pretend because you already posted it in the finished thread and I put it under a category. I put a note to confirm that it was finished before I submitted but still..,

Kevin will for for W, L & S at first glance.

message 159: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Just a reminder that while I have started fitting finished books into categories but they might not stay where they are.

So post everything you read even if it looks like the only category it works for is full. I can move books around until they are submitted for a finished category.

message 160: by Vicky (last edited Jun 02, 2013 03:41PM) (new)

Vicky (librovert) I'm working on getting all of the books I plan on reading in a list, but I need a second opinion on some books that might work for bronze, but I'm not sure if it pops enough.

An Echo in the Bone (Outlander, #7) by Diana Gabaldon - The text is more goldish, but I would call the circle in the middle bronze.
Ice Land A Novel by Betsy Tobin - The online picture doesn't do really do this justice, but the frills and the border around the letters is a bronze foil so it really pops when you look at the physical book. (This one might even count for blue too, depending on where we need to fit things!)
The Scottish Prisoner by Diana Gabaldon - The keys and the swirls around the edge.

Thoughts?

message 161: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) I started Discount Armageddon (InCryptid, #1) by Seanan McGuire (stoled from Eni from Tickle Me Pink) yesterday, today there was no reading done, but will finish it tomorrow

message 162: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Well Pewter Blue is in last place for Round II. But we're only about 40 books behind the next teams up. That's pretty darn good considering their goals are 400 books higher than hours. We're actually at a higher % done than the team just ahead of us.

Hopefully we'll get a couple more players to bring our goal up closer to the others.

Of course that's going by last weeks update. We'll see how we look tomorrow.

message 163: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I was hoping to finish this tonight but it had more discs than I thought it did. But I'm close and should finish tomorrow. I have 5 discs left. Cold Days (The Dresden Files, #14) by Jim Butcher

Also Kevin was published in July for #7 and I think it is half blue cover? Would it count for blue?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments @ Vicky -- I don't think any of those covers are *predominantly* bronze enough to count for the bronze cover task. But, that's just my thoughts, hopefully someone else will pipe in soon! Like, maybe a Mod? :)

Over here the mods said that we could use the title colors or colors that pop for bronze. They used The Diviners as an example of an acceptable book for bronze:

The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray

Which is where I'm hung up. It looks like there are a few bronze covers floating around between us, so we might not need them anyway. But I do like extra options. ;)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Oh, I forgot about that post! In that case, I think any of them could work. I really like the keys against that white cover but I love the bronze details in each cover in general.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Okay, having a brain fart... Can two of us (in this team) use the same book from the same person's shelf for Behind Enemy Lines?

Vi Yes you can.

Yes I am 50 % done. It will be finished very soon. I promise.

message 173: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) No worries. I just don't want to forget that it was posted early in the finished thread and submit it for a category. But I doubt I'll be submitting any finished categories for awhile because none are finished and if one was, once submitted the books can't be moved.

message 174: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) We Need To Talk about Kevin will work for 7 if it's orig pub was in July. Works for other things too I'm sure. Definately W in the big spell out.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments I'm so bad about finding new books at the library! I just checked out two books on a whim and they aren't even on my reading plan (yet). Shame on me. And it's not that I checked them out, but I started to read them both last night! Tsk tsk, Teresa!!

I feel like I should put them down and read one that I've already listed in my plan. I think I will do just that when I get into bed.

I just felt like I needed to confess to this behavior here, hehe, hold myself accountable. I reviewed my list and told myself to focus on getting through the books I've committed to first (and those that are due soonest at the library), then move onto the rest. I'll find homes for them all for the 7%, I'm sure. Just need to stay on track like a good little reader, hehehe.

Goodnight, all! Happy Reading!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments I just changed some things around in my update thread. I am moving The Templar Legacy from "definite" to "maybe" because I'm finding it hard to get into at the moment. Replacing it with A Faint Cold Fear, which I know fits a blue cover but haven't really looked at other tasks it fits yet.

I know none of this really matters because lots of things will probably change before this challenge is over but I just wanted to make notes of the change and I felt like babbling, haha.

Also, I just scrolled through everyone's planned reading and I really love the diversity of all the books that have been posted! Jackie, you and I have very very similar tastes. I have only finished the first book in the Amelia Peabody series and your post reminded me that I really should pick her up again.

Really, I must continue my list of "series I want to read" and refer to it frequently. So many books, not enough hours in life!

message 177: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) Really it doesn't matter if they are in your plan, it just matters that you finish a book!

message 178: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 476 comments Mod
Really, Teresa. Don't feel guilty. Not over reading a book. ☺

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Haha, you are both correct, of course! I'm not feeling guilty so much as I started feeling off track. I don't want to end up returning books before I can read them because I was too busy getting other books and reading those first. I actually want to read the books I have, I just need to keep myself focused on reading those, as long as I am in the mood, of course.

message 180: by Mary X (last edited Jun 04, 2013 10:00AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I think most of us just made a plan to see what books we had that worked for this and to see where books we wanted to read soon fit.

When I see books put as finished in the finished thread, I will place them where I think they go best and be prepared to move them if needed.

I'm not really paying attention to the books on peoples update posts. That's just for players to keep track of their books for themselves in one place. And so we can see what others might be reading and maybe we have the same book.

message 181: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Hey, Teresa! Yes, I see our tastes are very similar. Elizabeth Peters(Barbara Michaels) is one of my favorite authors and I love the Amelia Peabody series.

I also am reading books that aren't on my update thread. I still planning on reading all of them but I haven't listed everything that I plan to read. I will list them on the Finished thread though.

message 182: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) I finished another book! Just have to get my act together and post it in all the places it needs to be.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 362 comments Oh, I'm not concerned so much about my reading plan for the 7% being skewed... it's just something that I'm trying to stay focused on for myself. It was a silly throwaway confession that maybe came off a little more serious than I intended. See, I have a tendency to check out a bunch of books with the intention of reading them, then some other books catch my eye and I end up starting those before reading the 'older' ones and then the 'older' ones go back to the library, all but forgotten if I don't actually put them on a reminder list. Then, months later, I come across their titles here and think, "Darn it, I keep forgetting to go get that book again. I really want to read it!"

Anyway, it's just something I wanted to stop doing and I found myself doing it again, so while I was sitting here thinking about it, I wrote all of that stuff out to see it in 'print' to hold myself more accountable and aware.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Bronze?

Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward

message 187: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I have decided to go through my Next books on Fictfact and make a shelf here to try and focus on reading. I'm leaving off any that are 1st in a series that I put on there because I own them or want to read them. I'm also leaving off any where it's been so long since I read the series that I might want to reread the earlier books.

Maybe I will stick to the plan. Probably not. But I'm at work and bored.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Thanks! That's on my "next in a series list".

What about this for bronze? The State Counsellor The Further Adventures Of Erast Fandorin by Boris Akunin

Approved. Because of the bronze rope thingy around the title/author's name, at the bottom.

message 191: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Ok, trying to follow this to help out. So far I've only read 3 books in June (that are over 160. Darn for me reading some shorter reads recently!). Here are my three June completed reads, so far, if you can stick them in anywhere to have them count as well.

Private Oz (Other Private Offices) by James Patterson Barefoot in the Sand (Barefoot Bay, #1) by Roxanne St. Claire Show No Fear (SEAL Team 12, #7) by Marliss Melton

message 192: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Ok thanks. I will find homes for them.
