The 5th Wave
question
What do you think?

I just started this book and so far it is great, right off the bat like angelfall. Yancy makes you feel like your watching a movie, great writer. The main character, cassie is one tough girl.

Awesome book!! Keeps you captivated from the start. Hope this is going to be a series.
Loved it! Sammy/Nugget is one tough kid!! I think the little guy was my favorite :)
I thought it was a bit slow at first. I suppose I didn't really care for the reminiscing at the beginning, but I understand how necessary it was.
By the end though, I was smitten! lol

I am super undecided, on the one hand I totally love it but there are certain aspects I just hate! I'm so disappointed because I was all prepared to totally love it due to all the hype and it's the sort of thing I usually really enjoy.
I just hated the way that Cassie went to pieces half way through. She was so kick-ass at the start, like a proper heroine and then the minute a boy walked on the scene she went all lame and wet. Urgh .... This seems to happen all too often in YA. There is more to life than boys, especially when there's an alien apocalypse to contend with!

Love, love, love it! One of the greatest books i have read in a long time.
Yeah the flashbacks weren't needed in the beginning, that's what threw me off a little. I was so tempted to skip it but read it anyway.
Sorry to disagree with you guys but I didn't really like it that much. Too dramatic and cliche-y, plus the invasion kinda sucked.
Am I the only one that thinks it's lame how the heroines in these latest "distopian" novels seem to be cut out from the same mold? You know, the "tough-chick type with weapons and attitude that falls for the ruggedly handsome guy, but that's too afraid to get hurt blah blah..."
Kudos to Yancey for not turning it into another love triangle opera.

I found myself not wanting to go to sleep at night trying to read as much as I could until it got to a more uninteresting part of the book. Lets just say I got no sleep that night.

I really liked it! I agree with Tina J, I didn't care for the flashbacks at the beginning but overall I really enjoyed the action-packed adventure!
I. Loved. It. And if you liked this, then you will probably like Angelfall by Susan Ee. Those two are like, my favorite books of all time.
Am I the only person who didn't like this book? It was too much like "The Host". Too much hype and very disappointing
I thought the book started out slow, because Cassie is flashing back to months ago; when the Mothership first appeared. I understand that it is important to get a back story, I just didn't care for the way Yancey did it. I liked the story, but I didn't find it super interesting until, about, page 200. Or whenever she meets Evan. That's another thing, I really didn't care for Cassie. In the beginning she's a hard-core I'll-slit-your-throat-in-your-sleep kind of girl, then she meets Evan and she changes a little bit. She keeps changing the way she acts, and I didn't like that. I enjoyed Ben/Zombie's POV, not Cassie's. I only enjoyed her POV, about, 30 percent of the time. Overall I liked the book, and would give it 4 stars.
