Nice. Love the colors, and the way the image pulls you into the cover. It's almost like a Corporeal Pull. hehe. Couldn't resist. Anyway, good luck with the launch.

Your cover is amazing. One of the few I've seen in black and white but compelling in its artistry. I'm not saying this to blow smoke, I'm a cover designer and very discerning with design praise.

This is gorgeous! I am such a sucker for scratchboard art. This really stands out, and I bet it looks amazing teeny tiny! Good for you for putting an artist friend to work. :)

Yes, Denise, I did. I visualize as I write and part of that visualization is basically reflected in the covers I make for I see them as the faces of my works. Thanks for the kind words!

Hey Isis! Thanks for the kind words! I like the strong character on your cover - my one bit of advice would be reviewing the font of the title and it will be the standout piece of art it deserves to be!

Here is the jacket for my hardcover for my re-release. Doing POD and ebooks too of course, but that's not ready yet.

I designed it, but the photo is from the collection of the office where I'm Assistant County Historian.

Rebecca Porter (trolltails) | 26 comments Originally, I purchased a beautiful iStock photo and added the title, etc using InDesign for both my first and second book. I have some skills in this area, but not enough to make a compelling fantasy book cover. So I've posted a contest on DesignCrowd for a much better cover for book two. I can't wait to see what the true professional graphic artists produce.

I didn't want to spend the money either, but when it comes down to it, I believe in my writing and it deserves the best cover I can put on it. Just my opinion.

I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I can't even draw a straight line. I hired an illustrator, Jon Hunt, who did an amazing job. I plan to have custom cover illustrations for all the books in the series.

I have, in the past, used stock images. While they worked well for those projects, the stock image route simply didn't work for the sci-fi novel.

I made the cover for this novel by rendering multiple images in DAZ Studio and then doing postwork in Photoshop. I was pleased with the result! I think it reflects the tone of the novel well.

message 88: by Richard (new)

Richard Schiver | 7 comments It took me a couple of months of going back and forth with feedback and tweaking before I settled on this design for the cover of my next book. A Teddy Bear sacrificed his good looks to help me create this. For his sacrifice he has earned a place of honor on the top shelf of my bookcase where he can watch over my shoulder as I work.

Imilouane Ayoub Tales of Habib the Hoaxter: Sometimes Hoaxed, Always Good for a Laugh
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CV9VZH1Z
Here is a collection of 30 witty stories about Habib, an Arab folk hero who has appeared under many names for hundreds of years. Each tale contains a twist, often with the verbal knife, guaranteed to make you laugh aloud with delight.
These fables will transport you to an exotic, timeless world filled with marvels and belief in marvels. In this world, whether the little guy wins or loses depends on how well he uses his wits. Sometimes cunning, sometimes credulous, Habib has a unique way of thinking that will enable you to see the world in a new and wondrous way.
Many of the stories convey moral lessons, while others convey pure amusement, bringing laughter either at Habib’s cleverness or at his lack thereof.
Be prepared for an entrancing journey into “one day,” an adventure that will transport you far from your everyday life, then will return you to it with new and marveling eyes.
