I haven't yet, I will probably start this weekend maybe. Trying to get caught up on a few more reads first :)

This one was a good read, but I've seen this theme before. Heinlein's The Puppet Masters, Meyer's The Host, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Invasion movies.

I happen to love alien takeover apocalypse stories so I did like this one!!

I kept waffling back and forth on whether I liked a couple of the main characters throughout. (I ended up liking them.) And I adored a couple of others.

I'll read the next book so I can see how the story progresses!!

Cathrina Constantine (cathrinaconstantinecom) | 8 comments I'm more than halfway through and I'm eating it up. So far I love, love it. Almost too realistic and frightening, but I still love it. Much better than Monstrumologist which I liked.

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 60 comments Got it (and started reading) on Kindle this morning. Looks like I'm going to read it fast, and eagerly.

Kristina Just starting today and very excited!

Cathrina Constantine (cathrinaconstantinecom) | 8 comments Finishing up on The 5th Wave, and I love it!! Rick Yanceys' style of writing is remarkable, thrilling, and action packed.

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments I just finished The 5th wave and I thought it was so-so. The beginning was awesome and had me riveted.
After the narration switched to Zombie, I lost the feeling of urgency. I'm not saying I didn't like the rest of the book, I just felt the beginning with Cassie on the highway was much more interesting and I wish that pace could've been kept up throughout the entire book.
I kinda wish that every book in this category didn't turn into a love story. I mean, when you're busy fighting to survive, how come everyone has to fall in love?

Eveline I really loved this book, except for the whole romance part. Evan came over as a creepy stalker, with his 'waiting outside the door' thing etc. Did anyone feel that way too? :)

I felt the same way and the romance seemed so unrealistic and predictable.

Omg YES!!!! I didn't get how she fell for him at all, total alien creepster! I agree!

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 60 comments Halfway through it only (I blame Secrets of the 7th Sea and the Twelve Kingdoms novels ;)). I really liked the beginning. Now to see if the romance aspect will deter me or not (from what I can read in this thread).

See I saw it from a former CNA's view... With a patient that isn't ambulatory you can't go far. You have to stay where you can hear if they fall or call for help.

I'm only about half way in, I'm not sure how I feel yet. I liked the beginning, lots of action and he told the back story really well IMO. I'm not sure about the romance either (whether he is creepy or not) I kind of wish that we didn't have to have a romance in all of these books. I'm pretty sure there used to be books out there without romance as a huge part of the plot.

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments Right? WHY do they all have to get caught up in a dramatic love affair? And it wasn't just Cassie and her creeper Evan...
Zombie spent FAR too much time flirting with Ringer and "trying to make her smile". Blah. Seriously children...don't you have more important things to worry about????

Cathrina Constantine (cathrinaconstantinecom) | 8 comments The 5th Wave is pretty intense. And a little romance, even the creeper Evan, which I adored, and Cassie needed someone to soften her rough edges. And Zombie trying to get Ringer to smile I thought was cute and helped ease the anxiety.

Rebecka Really? "They killed Kenny"?

Bonny Bon Bon (bonnybonbon) | 44 comments So i just finished this, and i loved it.

Some of you are saying that you thought Evan was a creeper but i loved him, he was just being protective of cassie cause he loved her. what i didnt like was the ending - he basically snuggling up to ben whom doesnt even remember her when evan just layed down his life !! wtf cassie oh and she didnt say i love you back. she has no future with ben.

as you can tell im team EVAN lol i have when people classify themselves as team whatever but im going to be lame for a minute. dont get me wrong i loved ben and everythin but i loved evan and cassie more then the thought of either ben + cassie or ben and ringer.

Cathrina Constantine (cathrinaconstantinecom) | 8 comments I agree with Bonny! Loved this book!

Cheer Papworth (cheerest) | 67 comments I'm in Bonny and and Cathrina's camp. I thought Evan was one of the most interesting characters...if he wasn't an alien, assassin, stalker, caretaker and ultimately self-sacrificing character would his relationship with Cassie be remotely interesting?

Kristina Same here, I loved Evan. I really enjoyed the book and the characters, but I have to say that Evan was probably my favorite. I thought using the kids as the 5th wave was a nice twist, even if I saw it coming. But overall for me the book was 4 to 4.5 stars!

Lol I said at the beginning this discussion would be interesting, I had a feeling there would be two very committed sides!

I just didn't get the romance element between Cassie and Evan. I liked Evan okay, but he was just strange! I think Zombie and Ringer were actually my favorite characters, and I enjoyed Zombie's POV the best!

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments lol I enjoyed Cassie's POV until she started to fall for Evan...then I was annoyed with her.

I probably enjoyed SAMMY's POV the best, even though it was brief. You never get a child's viewpoint of these sort of events...I found his narration super interesting.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 10717 comments Mod
Yeah, I really liked Sammy's POV too. Has anyone read Room? That's one completely from a child's POV that's interesting :)

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
Zombie and Sammy were my favorite! I am looking forward to reading the next book to see where Zombie and Ringer's relationship goes. And I'm curious about Evan!!

I have read Room, David, and I loved it! It was very interesting, and I think mostly because it was from a 5 year old's POV!

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments Jenny wrote: "I have read Room, David, and I loved it! It was very interesting, and I think mostly because it was from a 5 year old's POV!"

I agree! Room was good, mostly because of the child's POV. I guess I'm a sucker for a kids narrative :)

Cool! I wasn't sure if other people would like it, but I found it pretty unique and cool, especially because the 5yo had such a different upbringing. But yeah, I liked a kids POV every now and then, which is why I think Sammy's really hit home for me :)
