Chriselle Is it just me or does this series sorta remind you of a cross (Haha no pun intended) between Delirium and Divergent?

Eveline It definitely reminded me of Delirium, with the whole Matching thing. I don't know about Divergent though, except that they are both Dystopic..

Ilana i actually can't say for sure that i felt like these were too similar to either book. what i did find with this series though is that i felt like there were a lot of similarities with the Hunger Games series. dont get me wrong - i don't always think that things are like HG but in this case i felt like there was a lot that was along the same lines.

for example, getting sent to the outer provinces or what not, that was like being sent away from the capitol and going to the far reaching districts (or district 13 if you will. also, i think that as you read the next 2 books in the matched trilogy, you'll see that there are definitely things that remind you of the other trilogy.

alana I'm gonna have to say that it reminded me of all 3 series...

Leah I was reminded of The Giver by Lois Lowry...like, a lot.

Jennifer Harris It was JUST like Delirium. Can't anyone be original anymore?

Chriselle I mean I still liked the book, b

low It reminded me of The Giver and The Hunger Games. Also a bit like Delirium but I haven't finished reading that book.

True, there is a lot of similarity ... but matched came first.

Me too! My cousin never read The Giver. When I tried to explain the premise, she said, "That sounds just like Matched."

Chace Yeah. I also thought that it was something like Delirium. But I checked their publication dates. No problem there. They're just too alike but no one did any concept stealing or anything.

Stephanie I thought it seemed like the Giver the most (especially since that came first).

That being said, there's a lot of dystopic books coming out these days. Like Jharice said, many YA authors will write about what's popular with teens at the moment. Love triangles, forbidden love, controlling government... many people trying to ride off of the success of The Hunger Games. :)
