Michell Karnes I agree with all of those who enjoyed the series. I found them peaceful and slow and loved them. The characters are great, real life...believable. It was a bonus to have the faith aspect woven in. Has anyone tried the Miss Read book series? They are great for their slow and peaceful pace as well. A fantastic series about a small village in England.

Vickie Kelley Haven't heard of that series. Will check it out after I have read my last book in the Jan Karon series!

Katydid I'm really sorry that I wasted my time reading this book actually. It was the most boring, slow book I think I've ever read. I must say however, that I did like the big dog. I wouldn't even go so far as to call this a "calming, peaceful, balm-like book"; it's more like a sedative book to put you to sleep.
