I'm not that interested in debating the merits of this book, but am puzzled as to why anyone would dislike it. Just curious. I think I gave it 5 stars, it was haunting and... just curious what kind of person wouldn't like it. Religious much? Is that the problem?
Susanne, I did read some negative reviews by some who thought the science aspects were should have gone deeper. Readers of hard sci fi often have this complaint with speculative novels. But the author never claims to write hard sci fi. You can't please everyone.
Interesting - I'd not thought of that angle. If the debate were framed around the scientific viability, I'm afraid I'd be out of my depth. Too bad, though, as sometimes hard sci fi readers miss the literature while searching for the "facts" -- true, you can't please everyone!
