Wow you guys are majorly organized...lol
Right now goal is finish listening to Dracula (3 hrs left)
Right now goal is finish listening to Dracula (3 hrs left)
OK, just finished the bio of Julia Child I had been reading, Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child, about 300 pages since the beginning of the read-a-thon and will now start hitting some other books after I run a couple of errands.Good luck everyone!
Just finished my first book: Die Jagd (Das Tal Season 2, #3) (a German book, highly anticipated newest installment of a series (the release date was pushed forwards in small steps for a year now). Now started: Paper Towns
My goals (some of which may overlap):1. I have a lot of books that have been on my "currently reading" list for a long time. I'd like to finish at least 4 of them this week.
2. I have 5 library books that are due in the next week, and I'd like to get through all of them.
3. I have a couple books that I'm supposed to be reading with groups or for challenges, and I'd like to make progress on those.
Most of the reading will have to happen over the weekend since I have a heavy schedule at work next week, but I still think this is doable.
Progress so far:
Begun before Read-a-thon:
Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed- listened for 3.5 hours (approx. 70 pages)
Started during Read-a-thon: none yet
Completed: none yet
My goals for this week are:--Sweet Evil
--Last Off
--The Ersatz Elevator
--The Avery Shaw Experiment
--Wings
--The Lost Symbol
As I finish books or add others to the list, I'll be sure to repost and edit/update.
Finished the last 27 pages in The Innocentene of Father Brown. Read 115 pages of Along came a Spider
Although I focused on a really heavy book the first day, I did take some breaks for some lighter material. I have been trying to get through Collapse since last August, and switching to the audiobook version turned out to be just the thing I needed to get it read. I think I'm going to stick to "fun" books for the rest of today because that book was mentally exhausting, and not just because I spent 11.5 hours listening to it in about a day's time.Progress so far:
Begun before Read-a-thon:
1.Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed- listened for 11.5 hours ((final 250 pages)
2.Libriomancer- 90 pages
Started during Read-a-thon:
1.Triple Shot, Double Pump, No Whip Zits: A ZITS Treasury- 80 pages
Completed:
1.Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed
Total pages: 420
My first 'status' post.Books finished: Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child- 318 pages read during Read-A-Thon
Books Read: 1 Secondhand Spirits - 313 pages.
Stats:
Books Read: 1 1/2
Pages Read: 631
I finished up my audiobook of Dracula (last 3 hours) on my drive back from my half-marathon; now i can focus on reading...although I have a feeling, I am going to be down for the count tonight
I have been having an extremely busy weekend, so Day 1, I only got 75 pages read of The Sour Cherry Surprise. I am back home now and hoping to finish that book this evening and get many more pages read for Day 2. I will report back tomorrow because I plan to be reading until quite late.

Progress Made on Books: The Hidden Staircase (152 pages), 1984 (73 pages), Nightmares and Dreamscapes (30 pages)

Just got back in town from my daughter's college graduation, so haven't been able to read much so far. This won't be a stellar Read-a-thon for me, but I'll just do what I can in finishing the 5 books I already have in progress:Well-Schooled in Murder

Paper Towns (332 pages)
Soulless (357 pages)
Books in progess:
Hidden 40 pages
Pages read: 993 pages
Soulless was surprisingly good. I had it on my TBR pile for ages and only when I saw a buddy read with it coming up I signed up and picked it up. I liked the old fashioned style mixed with some (relatively) daring scenes. I did NOT like the way the POV changed all the time. I want one hero and stay with him/her or two alternating views. 4 or 5 different points of view including the thoughts in one chapter is not my thing at all. But I forgave the book instantly as it was just great fun to read.

I heard it will be getting even better?

I feel the same way, Nadine. I really enjoyed Soulless, but am not sure about continuing on with the series because I'm not a fan of the genre.

I got upset when I started reading this because I got the book at the library. I was reading along and all of the sudden the page went from 4 to 9! Luckily I had seen the original movie before reading the book, so I knew the gist of what happened in the missing pages, but I'm definitely going to let the library know so they can replace the pages/book.
Today's update to come tonight :)
