message 104: by C.R. (new)

C.R. (thegirlunderthestairs) Either Lord of the Rings of Harry Potter. I loved both of them SOOOO much! I actually loved the City of Bones even though it wasn't much like the book... maybe it was because it had Jamie Campbell Bower (who was the PERFECT Jace) I also loved the Hunger Games, I felt like it stayed true to the book. But Lord of the Rings definitely (I mean heck the Return of the King won 14 academy awards, the most ever! It's tied with Ben Hur and the Titanic) That's saying something.

message 105: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 130 comments The Hunger Games was really good, but they messed up some details that I thought were important, however, it was still a good movie. Oh, and Catching Fire was even closer to the book, and was a better movie overall. I Am Number Four is the closest adaptation of a YA book I've found. As for not YA, my favorite book-to-movie adaptation is Les Misérables. Well, all movies, actually. ;) That also may be because I'm a bit of a music nerd.

Gabriella | 37 comments My favorite is the Catching Fire book to movie adaptation. Very original of me, I know xD

message 107: by MiMi (new)

MiMi (planetearthturnsslowly) I loved seeing the host and love it as a movie, however they skipped a major part that was in the book. That's was extremely disappointing but otherwise it was great. I also like breaking dawn part two. That was the only Twilight movie I liked.

message 108: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 64 comments I liked the hunger games movies(both of them), breaking dawn part 1/2, the mortal instruments city of bones, the vampire diaries. That's about it for now.

message 109: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag I like the hunger games and catching fire. And I just know I'll love divergent!

message 110: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 52 comments Seabiscuit was very good.

As far as YA novels I think that The Lord Of The Rings and Catching Fire lived up to their novels.

message 111: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee Catching fire i think was amazing!
I have a feeling divergent and the maze runner are going to be great as well!

message 112: by Ally (new)

Ally Bryan (allysbookshoparoundthecorner) | 12 comments Perks of Being a Wallflower was amazing! I thought The Spectacular Now was better than the book (which is very rare for me)! I have a feeling I will love Divergent and TFiOS..but I need to lower my expectations lol!

message 113: by Abby (new)

Abby (toinfinityandexcelsior) | 6 comments I think The Book Thief was phenomenal.

message 114: by Karen (new)

Karen Rojas (rojaska) | 1 comments Definitely not percy jackson

message 115: by Annika (new)

Annika Clark (annikakatherine) I'd say that Harry Potter, Catching Fire, and LOTR are so phenomenal as movies that we forget everything different from the books. Honestly, they should ALL be Academy Award winners. Great, classic films. Of course the inspiration still comes from the books, but it takes a certain creativity to be able to adapt so well visually to the screen.

message 116: by Dana (new)

Dana Dienno | 16 comments My Sister's Keeper. Excellent book and great movie. I love how the endings differ.

message 117: by Nicolas (new)

Nicolas Fernandez (iamnikf) | 49 comments Well, Catching Fire was pretty awesome. I don't know if you've seen The Help or not, but that movie makes me cry every time I watch it. Also, I feel a little disappointed with City of Bones because the book was so good, and the movie was so meh. I'm looking forwards to watch the Divergent movie, but I have a feeling that, as recent book-to-movie adaptations, the box office won't be any good.

message 118: by Gabriella (new)

Gabriella | 37 comments I really liked Catching Fire! Francis Lawrence took out all of the unnecessary parts (except for we never got our roof scene D:).

message 119: by Ally (new)

Ally Bryan (allysbookshoparoundthecorner) | 12 comments @Nicolas I forgot about The Help!!! Yeah that was a great adaptation!

message 120: by Anna (new)

Anna (s-lore07) The Great Gatsby.

message 121: by Aubrie (new)

Aubrie (aubbriee) Along came a spider

message 122: by Ellen (new)

Ellen | 29 comments The hunger games: Catching Fire! That movie was taken straight out of my mind and couldn't been done better in opinion. The script, the cast, the scenes, the set, the editing, the music... Everything was just 2 and 20 minutes of perfection!

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

I have several... Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson, and Hachi.

message 124: by Ally (new)

Ally Bryan (allysbookshoparoundthecorner) | 12 comments I think Harry Potter will always be the best adaptation of a book series! I was so young when they first started coming out that I didn't realize just how good they were and how people must have been flipping out that they would screw it up haha!

message 125: by Rebecca (last edited Mar 06, 2014 03:35PM) (new)

Rebecca Jeyne Lannister (echodawn22049) | 7 comments Harry Potter! Though they're so good that according to recent research, 40% of children think that Harry Potter wasn't based off a book :(

Kristina (kristinagrace) Harry Potter Boxset, Divergent, Speak, Catching Fire

Loved these movies to death.

message 129: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Fortis (eileensreading) | 5 comments Harry Potter series to me is one of the best. Catching Fire is amazing, I knew what was going to happen and I was so into the movie like I didn't know how was gonna end. And I really like Pride and Prejudice. Think that's are my favorites by now

message 130: by Michele (new)

Michele Darouni (michele_darouni) Harry Potter, Divergent and THG

message 131: by FaeryMeganChase (new)

FaeryMeganChase | 3 comments I have to say Host.

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) I'd say Hunger Games and Divergent.

message 133: by Allison (new)

Allison Wonderland (allisonwonderland1496) | 25 comments I'm surprised to admit that Divergent (as a film) qualified as a far better execution of the plot than the book itself. I was truly disappointed with the series.. The movie caught my eye however. In my opinion, Divergent was meant to be on screen rather than paper. :)

message 134: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahsmanyhobbies) Catching Fire, Divergent, The Host :)

Haven't read the book, but I love the movies!

Also: the Princess Bride.

message 143: by Renee (new)

Renee (reneelisaaa) It'd have to be The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. They did take out some parts - PEETA'S LEG - but overall very true to the books. I haven't read HP and therefore haven't watched the movies but I have heard they are very accurate too.
I do watch movie adaptions if I've read the book first, always with an open mind. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the movie.

message 144: by Ally (new)

Ally Bryan (allysbookshoparoundthecorner) | 12 comments TFiOS and Gone Girl

message 145: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 137 comments I'm a Twilight fan and have enjoyed seeing them as movies and I watch them a lot. However, if you're talking about book to screen adaptations, I think The Hunger Games movies and the Divergent movie have been very good. Of course, their stories are the kind that transform well into movies, especially in that genre, where the Twilight movies were more difficult for studio execs to label.

message 146: by Janet (new)

Janet Nodine | 4 comments One of more fairly recent movie I loved almost as much as the book was The Book Thief. Incredible acting by the young girl!

message 147: by Els (new)

Els | 8 comments For me it is: Pride and prejudice but also The Hunger Games. :)

message 148: by Shima (new)

Shima brooks (shimabrooks) I really enjoyed If I Stay. The acting was amazing!

message 149: by Emily (new)

Emily Robinson (robinsonnemily) TFIOS (even though they left out a lot) and City of Bones (even though it is nothing like the book, i still love it!)

message 150: by M. (last edited Oct 27, 2014 10:28AM) (new)

M. Austin | 7 comments Because they're pretty faithful: Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, the Princess Bride, Divergent.
Even though they're completely different: Stardust, Howl's Moving Castle, Fantastic Mr Fox, A Little Princess.
Because they're so different: the How to Train Your Dragon movies.
Guilty pleasure: The Secret Dreamworld/Confessions of a Shopaholic
