well.. this is funny hahaha! XD

i think you would need to watch the whole movie to judge it!!

Twilight is the other set of books that translated better to screen. I say this only because I don't want to be in the mind of angst-riddled teenage minds, but I'm not adverse to seeing their stories.

Still, excited to see Catching Fire :) (and to see if they've bought a tripod for it)
OH MY GOD DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MOVIE IT WAS TERRIBLE.... everything was different. the mutts- looked like a pig that was dropped on its face covered in mudd and ran over my a mac truck.. the cornicopia - WTF is tht huge black thing what the hell. AND OMG wtf with Rue's death it was correct just BACKWARDS. the graphic and the camera sucked. I think they chose charaters good except for Clove i pictured her big a mascline. But come on even with the being it was wrong Prim really was baling and stuff she left katniss a peice of cheese on the table. im glad they got the calling of names right but even with katnis meeting Gale in the woods was WRONG everthing was terrible. Catching Fire had better be good or im going to pissed the hell off cuz Catching Fire was my least favorite book out of them all..... And is just me or who wanted Finnick to be played by as Taylor Launter?? I think id like tht. lol but really The Hunger Games movie was terrible i cant believe half my friends accutally like it oh and i forgot EVEN THE CHARIOT RIDE WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!! GRRR

me too i didnt cry in the movie either but i did in the book

and poeple said it was better than Twilight...pshsh please!...
hopefully Catching fire will be better...

This is how I felt about the difference between the book and the movie.
I also felt they totally screwed up with coloration, size, etc. on the characters if they wanted people who had read the book to identify with the characters.
However, on reflection, I could separate the book from the movie and enjoy the movie as a separate entity and then it was a pretty good movie. Not great but pretty good. I tried to think of it as a different story entirely which in many ways it was.

I'd say so as well. If you don't compare the movie to the book, it is pretty good. But there were some things that bothered me. Like the fact that the legendary pin that was given to Katniss by her friend turns out to be a commonly sold item in the movie. If the mockingjay pin was not one of a kind, ANYBODY can get it. Then there's the shakiness of the camera that was meant to make the movie seem more real only made me dizzy. But I suppose the movie was okay. There could've been worse versions.

FINALLY Someone who sees it my way!!!!

agreed.
I hates the movie and the books because there was too much romance and I thought that it was like another twilight in the making.

No I think it was bad too. Not armature B movie bad, just a lot of things missing. Add the narration from Katniss, so we know what she's thinking and it would have been better. The Hunger Games itself was almost TV version censored in a way, we didn't get the gruesome deaths as mentioned in the book. Still I look forward to the next one.

Prim did not give Katniss the mocking jay pin Madge did....

Couldn't agree more...

movie: 3/5 book: 5/5

Its probably an age thing. I'm almost 40 and I loved the very original idea of the book, but the execution was clearly aimed at a different audience, specifically teenagers- so I didn't care for all the extraneous detail in the book that was left out for the movie, like fashion and grooming and every interaction that seems very important in young love. For me, the movie(s) were better.
can i just say THANK YOU FOR FINALLY BRINGING THIS UP!!! I know probably nobody will read this, but thats ok cuz i just rly need 2 get my anger out about this series.
first of all, if you're a huge fan, stop reading this. you'll get mad.
second, some of this is personal, so i dont expect everyone to understand.
third, please don't start yelling at me if you're a fan and you're actually reading this.
so it started when i read the first book, the hunger games.
it was ok, because i read it just before it was super popular. but then it got REALLY popular, which started to annoy me. part of it was that i've been doing archery for a long time, and my range is now full of katniss everdeen obsessed fans who think it's the easiest thing ever until they pick up a bow, quiver, arm and finger guard and miss the target completely. the other part was that when i find something that i actually like, it starts to become popular then i hate it. sorry, but that's kinda how i am. of course, then i started to read the second book. it was worse, but still not 100% horrible (an 85%). Of course, then i decided to ruin the series (i just had to finish it) by reading the last book, mocking jay. it was slow, boring, and a difficult read. if i dont like a book, it takes me FOREVER to read, so that book actually took me 5 days, while the other 2 just took a day (keep in mind i was around 10, so i wasn't a super advanced reader). Of course, it was a HUGE hit and everything, even though everyone's favorite was still the first book, the hunger games. then the hunger games movie came out. i saw the first one (courtesy of netflix), and it actually wasn't completely awful, but the thing that stung was again, the archery. (i'm one of those people who is only good at a couple things and archery is one of them). i told my friends i hated them, and of course had a huge argument that left me with only 3 friends. this series has taken some of my only enjoyable parts of my life, like archery and my friends. Not to mention now i'm known as katniss at my school, 1 cuz im good at archery 2 cuz everyone knows i hate her and they try to annoy me. whenever someone wants to annoy me, they know exactly how. i try to act cool and everything, but one of my only friends moved away, and i'm pretty much that one girl everyone avoids now. i really dont wanna hide my personlity and feelings, but they're nobody to understand me because they all think the books are genuis. oh, and the movies? when catching fire came out i was once again teased, because apparently i look like one of those old people katniss wants on her team, the lady who goes tick tock (i read catching fire two years ago, give me a break) this book/movie series has taken some of my freedom and personal enjoyment away from me.
i'm sorry for rambling, if you actually read this far, congratulations, you would make an amazing friend for a shy girl who hates the hunger games, does archery, and just tries to live with everything around her including a book/movie series that she hates (have i mentioned it at all?) oh, and did i mention a strange sense of humor?
thank you for reading my frustration and personal life, i'm sorry i got kinda side tracked
