Compare your protagonist with a character from another text, film, song, person, etc.

For a “4”: Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Mark | 33 comments In the book The Warlock by Michael Scott my protagonist Sophie Newman compare's to SuperMan. Sophie Newman is a hero in the alchemyst series and she has magical powers thanks to Nicholas Flamel who had several people awaken her and her brother. Also Sophie Newman has been betrayed by her brother who has now join the villians.Superman has been betrayed and he knows what it is like to have magical powers also Superman has had people helping him just like Sophie Newman. A quote from the book." Will we ever get him back Sophie asked Niten, no i dont think we ever will he has made his mind he has sided with Dee he wont come back he has left you." This qote shows how Sophie had been betrayed by her brother and superman has been betrayed by his friends and many others also Sophie and Superman both share the responsibility of saving people and doing good in the world. This shows why I compared Sophie Newman with Superman.

Elva C. | 40 comments In the fantasy book, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, I can compare the protagonist, Percy with a character from the book, Oh. My. Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs, Phoebe. Both book talks about mythology. In The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson is a 12 year old boy and he goes to a camp called, Camp Half-blood, with other kids, and teens that are like him, which is half-bloods. They are people who are half human and half god. However, when Percy first arrived at the camp, he didn't know anything. He was still confused about the fact that gods are real, and who he actually is. He didn't know that he was the son of Poseidon, the sea of god. This is like the book, Oh. My. Gods because in the book, it is a teenager named Phoebe, and when her mother told her the news that she is going to move to Greece, she also had to transfer schools. The school is filled with kids that are half gods. Just like Percy, Phoebe doesn't know that she is half goddess and when she entered the school, it was like Percy entering Camp Half-blood. In the Lightning Thief, one of the characters, Chiron announced, ""Poseidon," said Chiron. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God." (126). This quote shows how Percy has found out who his father is, and who he is. When Percy found out, he was bewildered. Just like the book, Oh. My. Gods, when Phoebe found out that she was a half god, she was really bewildered. Throughout her life, she has never known that her father was also a god. She didn't know anything. This is just like Percy Jackson because he also didn't know who his father is, and who, himself is. After when both of the characters found out a secret about themselves, they where both very bewildered.

Monica | 43 comments Katie Finn's, one of the top 8 realistic fiction novels: Unfriended, is about a girl named Madison McDonald hanging out with her friends and boyfriend on a normal summer vacation. Protagonist Madison is going off to college next year, so therefore, she will not be seeing her boyfriend or her friends. This can compare to the book, Two-Way Street since the protagonist in that book, is also going off to college. She will not be able to see her peers either, except the fact that she is on a road trip with her ex. In addition, Madison is dealing with minor problems. She keeps on running into her ex.boyfriend, Justin, everywhere. Girls are also always crowding around him as if he was a gold trophy rather than a regular, popular guy. This can also compare to Two-Way Street since Courtney's ex is no ordinary human. His messy, blond hair always attracts attention. Madison McDonald reveals one of her best friends' personality by saying,"I kept forgetting that the Connor breakup had its roots in a secret that only Schuyler knew." (19). This quote shows how close Madison and Schuyler are and they don't tell their secrets to others, even though their friends are their "group." Madison trys not to spill the secret, but sometimes it can slip out like this time. But Madison is a loyal person, so she remembers that only her and Schuyler know about the Connor breakup. This can compare to the realistic fiction book, Two-Way Street since Courtney also has a best friend named Jocelyn and it is almost impossible to keep secrets from her away from Jocelyn's boyfriend and her ex since they are also practically good buddies.

Matthew | 34 comments In the book Bad Boy, by Walter Dean Myers, my protagonist, Walter, reminds me of the movie Problem Child. As a young boy Walter was a troubled kid and would get in lots of fights with other kids. In the movie Problem Child a young boy gets adopted gets into a lot of trouble to. The kid in Problem Child loves to do terrible things because he thinks it's fun and is trying to get attention. "Near the end of the year in the third grade, I slapped a kid, and my teacher, Miss. Zeiss slapped me." This shows one of the many bad things Walter did when he was young. Also, Walter relates to the child in Problem Child because Walter was adopted as well.

Jack Brill | 41 comments In the book "Always Running" by Luis J. Rodriguez, my protagonist can be compared to Dally from the outsiders for many reasons. For example both characters have been in trouble with the police before for commiting a crime and each of those crimes they have both been involved in a robbery. Another example on how they are alike is they both didn't have a strong relationship with their parents.

Ivan (ivanski711) | 30 comments In the fiction book the Demond King By Cindia W. Chima I compared my character Han to another fiction character Curious Goerge. The reason why I compred the two characters is because there both very curious. Another reason that I compared the two is because there two brave characters. These two pecies of information shows why I picked Curious Goerge to compare my character Han to.

In the fiction book "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, the protagonist named Katniss Everdeen is very similar to another character named Jackson from the movie "2012" directed by Roland Emmerich. In the "Hunger Games" book, it is about a live TV that shows a fight of teenagers until their death. There were twelve districts and two kids from each district go to the Capitol to fight until their death. As a girl was picked from district twelve, it happened usually to be Katniss's sister. Katniss volunteered to save her girl and danger ended up on her. Katniss has prepared and is now in the arena, where death occurs. She saw one by one people go and dealing with the ones staying. Recently, Katniss got passed out and found this little girl named Rue. They worked together by the combination of their traditional skills. Overall, Katniss was caring for Rue and trying to keep her alive for the last. Katniss had risked her life to save Rue. This action is similar to the character named Jackson from the movie "2012." On page 232-233, Katniss stated, "When I break into the clearing, she's on the ground, hopelessly entangled in a net. She just has time to reach her hand through the mesh and say my name before the spear enters her body. The boy from District 1 dies before he can pull the spear. My arrow drives deeply into the center of his neck." This quote from the book shows how Katniss risked her life to save Rue. Katniss had dived into the life threatening scene to try to save Rue. Katniss didn't do well enough to save a life, but she tried her hardest. Katniss was caring to take this action. This is similar to the character named Jackson from the movie "2012" because Jackson also risked his life to save his entire family. Jackson had drove his car through the dangerous breaking land to just save his family. If Jackson wasn't caring, he would have just took a plane to leave without the family. Katniss and Jackson were both caring people that risked their lives for others.
