They were making progress when they suddenly heard a cry for help. Apparently, they all had the same idea of rushing over to the edge of the raili.g ti see what the commotion was about, and they all let go at the same time. No sooner than they realised that the rope and net was disappearing into the sea as thwy were nobdy anchoring the rope. At the last possible.moment, Arthur leapt for the rope and was rewarded with him diving head first into the sea, the rope still in hand.

Arthur was pulled around the waters as whatever they vaught was struggling for freedom. He could barely hear his crew's ylls as water rushed around him. After about a minute, he couldn't take whatever was im the met, and let it go as he tried to go up for air. With bleeding fimgers, he tried to swim the surface only to realise his leg was vaugt in a knot by the end of the net.

His hesd was already buzzing slightly. He couldn't think as the pounding in his head got stronger and stronger. He thought he was well of the erath and entering the death realm when suddenly something freed his leg. Before he knew what was happening, he broke the surface and gulped for air, paddling to the life-float bobbing nearby. He reached it and thanked the heavens that he made it out of there alive.
They were pulling him back to the boat when realisation struck him. Something was in the waters, and it definitely wasn't any sea animal he have experience with. Something actually got him free, something that had intellegence and kindness. A dolphin? No, a dolphin couldn't have cut him free, even as they're willingness to help human beings was well known. Curiousity got the better of him, and before he knew it, he was diving back into the water, seeking for whatever creature that saved his life while ignoring the faint cries of protests and strings of curses coming from the ship.

When a splash hit the water, she looked up and saw the pirate she cut loose earlier. She frowned. What was he doing? He should be out of the water. Not in it. She gritted her teeth at the pain in her tail. She was losing a lot of blood and it made her dizzy.
From the moment he suerged in the water, he thought he was already dead or was drowning and hallucinating. There, before his eyes, was a myth and legend. It was a mermaid.
He slapped and pinched himself underwater, but the two dimensional image of a struggling mermaid didn't disappear. It took some time for him to realise the mermaid was staring right back at him.
Somehow only then he notived the mermaid losing blood, fast. It was as of reality came crashing back to him at that one moment, and his sense of logic quickly retutned along with it. He quickly swam back up to the surface, commandin his men to pull him and the net up as fast as possible. If the mermaid saved his life, he was going to save her's back.

Arthur was hauled up soon enough, but the mermaid seemed to weigh a tank. With much struggling and groaning, they were able to heave the creature from the sea, with a trail of blood in it's wake.
His men were frozen inplace by both shock and disbelief. They couldn't even blink their eyes as they captured the beauty of a creature only real in fantasy stories. But it wasn't time to marvel at her; they sure as hell needed to keep her alive.
"Ahoi! Cut the net! You heard me! Move move!" he yelled, startling most of his crew out of their daze.

They huriedly went about their business. The tough ones cutting he net up and some with medical experience went to grab some medical equipment.
Arthur went right up to her struggling body and squatted down. "Stop struggling!" he commanded. "Just breathe... wait, can you breathe on land?!" he asked as terror and worry creased his brow.

"Good, moron," he retorted. "We'll figure out a way to..." he paused in mid-sentence as his eye twitched. "Your l-legs," he stuttered as he stared in disbelief.
His men seemed to notice, too, but they barely slowed their progress. The medical-experienced crew members burst out of one of the many doors, and their mouths fell ajar as they tried to figure out if they were hallucinating.

He oprned to his mouth to say something, but she was already out like a light. He quickly stood up and pointed at one of the temporary medics. "You! Fix her up quick! We don't know how vulnerable this creature is! You!" he pointed to another fella. "Get me a towel, now!"

Arthur quickly wrapped the towel around her body as soon as the towel reached his hands, leaving the injured leg exposed to the care of Jason. The other men were already grumbling about needing to repair the net. Not to mention the whining about needing to scrub the blood off the wooden floor.

He shot him a glance, questioning his real motive for suggesting such a thing. He looked at the rest of his crew members, but they were suddenly taking interest in their shoes. "Fine," he relented. "Alright, back to repairig the net! Sail south of here, will you, Anderson?" He didn't wait for a reply before lifting the currently-human off the floor and towards his grand room.

"To heaven!" he replied with a voice a few octaves lower than his usual, with only a hint of sarcasm. "You have died on the ship Optimus Maximus, and now you shall be awarded your fate of afterlife!" he continued to boom, as if he was the judge for the Gate of Heavens.

He gave her a stern look. "Now, Papa don't appreaciate being called an unholy creature." He reached his room and opened the door, revealing a very much office-like bedroom. (I don't wanna bore you with the interior =P))

((Its okay lol))
He looked down at her with his own smirk. "I am Leader of No One Republic, Master of Nothing, Best in Pathethicness, Spades of Hopelessness, Ace of Uselessness and ... " hr paused as he pretended tobseem thoughtful. "Wait, I forgotten my last title!"

He was gently placing her on his bed when revelation came crashing down on the very word 'tail'. He dropped her suddenly and took a few steps back, his breath quickening as his eyes widened with bewilderment once again. "I-I..." was all Arthur could stutter out.

He shok his head to get the uneasy feeling off him. All it did was make his eye twitch as he thought again and again of the reality. He gazed back at her before clearing his throat and looking away, pointing to her towel that was then only covering her waist down.

"Tell you what?" he asked, more like squeak at the last word. He shuffled his fey nervously as he adjusted his pants. His eyes were darting all over, not daring to believe this girl was indeed a mermaid.

"Because," he sighed in defeat."I-I still don't believe you exist." The mere thougt made him stutter like a fool. He frowned a questioning brow upon her. "Aren't you qorried sick abot what's going to happen to you?" he asked.

He winced as he look at her leg. Or rather, winced at his blood-soaked mattress. "Because you saved me, and I felt bound to save you back. Well, at least I think it was you," he muttered. "Look," he said. "I still don't know what you are, who you are and where you came from. So..." he trailed off, giving her a knowing look.

He shook his head. "It just isn't worth the effort to cut a net, use medical supplies on you and let your blood soak into my mattress and suddenly killing you," he explained. "Plus," he added quickly. "I want to know more about your specimen and if their any good in taste," he teased.

He scowled at her. "It has. It definitely has. How else do we know mermaids even as a legend?" he countered. Was she trying to persuade him and keep his mind off the track? That remained a mystery to him. "I'm determined to be more knowledgable towards specimen like you."
