the story is set in historical England. Its about a girl that lives with her grandfather that I think is a scholar in a village. They have two servants that might as well be her uncles. She is smart and loves to say quotes from famous wise people. She also is a dreamer and loves to fence. Anyways, the guy in the story is selfish and a rake. he was passing by on the road when some thief try to ambush his coach and tried to kill him. she was playing with her gdads old suit of armor and basically saves him. They are sort of compromised so he marries her. she fall in love with him but he doesn't love her only did that to pay back and not lose her virtue. Once in London he is attacked and and sold to traders. everyone thinks he died. he come back from slavery to find that she is going to marry his cousin and that she is a complete beauty. She hates him and wants to leave him because the ton thought she was a joke when she came out after his "death." Because his ex said he thought of her as a burden. Anyways with help from his mother she becomes a lady and a beauty. Every man lust for her. So her cousin (and her bFf) tells her he will marry her so they can have peace. Anyways he comes back and interrupts the wedding. She wants a divorce but he actually loves her now and tries to win her back. Oh, and everyone in his house hold hates him when he comes back for making her life so miserable. so it takes him some time to get everyone to like him again. She is independent and has several guy friends. she defies him at every turn. slowly they get to know each other again and at the end they get back together. They also find how has been trying to kill him. In the end he also gives her a diamond heart shape necklace.
