Shaun Horton | 248 comments The Ampersand H. marketing and book design company is having a contest to fill up its summer reading list.

Help me write my summer reading list! 56 amazing indie authors have submitted their books and now you can help me decide! Vote on your favorites! Winners must have at least 5 votes to win. You can vote as many times as you like, but only one vote per book. After you vote, enter our raffle for free e-book copies of all 5 winning books! Winners will be announced June 1st!

My own book The Unknown Neighboris one of those listed, but all are reportedly indie authors.

Lex Allen (lexallenbooks) | 123 comments Saying "Hi", Shaun.

My book, "No Heaven" is on the list. I'm trying to think what I could possibly say or promise to those who vote for me and the book, but all I can think of is a promise of a really interesting, thought provoking and thrilling read.

"No Heaven" and the rest of the Imagine Trilogy is speculative, science fiction that contains elements of the supernatural, quantum physics theory (for non-Nobel Prize candidates, of course), religious conspiracies and I've even thrown in a little romance!

There's a guy named Jesus, who isn't the Son of God but claims to be the same man mentioned in the Bible. There's a hot theology professor, an ex-soldier atheist and a disillusioned college student who side with Jesus.

There's a Pope that discovers his real purpose in life, a priest that's a rabid killer and a female U.S. President that is everything other than a "normal" politician.

Well... the list of characters goes on, but there's one more that I think everyone will love as a bad guy. He's an alien from a parallel universe, like Jesus, and he has his own plans for world domination. Jesus and friends have gotten in his way.

Thanks, a million, for your votes!

Shaun Horton | 248 comments One of the interesting things about their voting system. You can only vote for any book once. But you can vote for as many books as you want.

I suppose I should make an argument for my book as well, though.

(clears throat)

Ahem. If my book is chosen as one of the top five in this contest, I will...um...get free publicity for the summer. That's really about it.

My book The Unknown Neighbor, is a slow-paced psychological horror/thriller.

We've all seen the news reports where someone goes crazy and murders the entire family of their neighbor. I started with the question, "What if you were the family on the other side of him?" Not only did a trusted neighbor turn out to be a cold-blooded killer that slaughtered an entire family of friends down the road from you, but suddenly you're faced with the thought "What if he had turned left instead of right?" Suddenly on top of the deaths and the realization you don't know your neighbors as well as you thought, you're dealing with the idea that your family's lives hinged on a single choice from a twisted and deranged mind, and you never even knew about it...

Where do you go from there?

Jennifer Priester (jenniferpriester) | 64 comments My book is on there. Mine is the first book in a uniquely written fantasy series called Mortal Realm Witch. The book on the list is Mortal Realm Witch: Learning About Magic and I would really appreciate it if you would consider voting for it.
You can vote for as many books as you like so also consider this factor when voting.
Now, what is my book about? The book itself is made up of 6 short, but connecting stories. Most of the stories focus on a young 11 year old girl called DWW who recently discovered that she is a witch. She learns that her dog can talk and that he is her familiar. The dog, a Golden Retriever called Trillman, is in charge of teaching DWW magic.
Besides learning magic, DWW needs to learn responsibility, which is what the first three stories focus on. In the first three, you learn everything about magic that DWW does as she, Trillman, and the Head of the Witches Council tell their stories from their individual viewpoints. The fourth story is called "Wolf Magic" and is the books turning point story. In this one DWW becomes the full time magic teacher to two magical wolf pups. Her job is to not just teach them magic, but how to hunt and fight as normal wolves as well. In teaching the pups DWW learns a lot about herself. Then in the last story, story 6, DWW returns home to the Mortal Realm in time to face her biggest challenge and the test in the form of a warlock who wants to take over the Realms, to see if she is ready for something much bigger. This story sets up basically the rest of the series.
To learn more about the series please visit: http://www.mortalrealmwitch.com. On it you can learn about almost all the books, meet some of the characters, see interviews my characters took on Joleene Naylor's blog, read a free story about Trillman before he became DWW's familiar, read excerpts from Learning About Magic, and more. The story about Trillman takes place before the events in Book One and is the story of how he became a familiar.
Anyway, I really hope you vote for my book.
Although I can't promise you will like my book, most have, but not everyone, I can promise that my book was edited by a professional editor and beta read by several of my former English teachers, so as far as anyone has told me, my book only has one grammatical error and this is that a " is missing in one of the sentences.
Thank you to everyone who votes for Mortal Realm Witch: Learning About Magic, and please don't forget to visit the website to get a feel for the book if you plan on voting for it. Also, if you have any questions about my book that aren't answered on the site or any of the links my site takes you to regarding my book, I have a group on here called ask Jennifer Priester where I am open to all questions. I started the group because I seem to be spending more time on Goodreads than anything else so it has actually become my quickest form of contact. Plus I felt that if one person had a question others might have the same one. If you have questions and need the link to my group you can find it in the About the Author section of my website.

Michelle (michelleabbott) | 86 comments My book is on there too. In Chains. It's a dystopia style romance. I'd appreciate any votes if you feel it's deserving. Here's the blurb.

A romance set in a world where slavery is government run and slaves are fitted with microchips.
Savannah, fleeing a turbulent relationship, seeks solace at her brother’s country farmhouse. It’s there that she meets Kayden; her brother’s slave who's considered less than human. These two damaged souls form an unbreakable bond, one that’s about to be tested, because Kayden is her brother’s property and he will stop at nothing to keep them apart.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments I checked it out and I liked your books. Everyones sounds so good it's too bad you can only vote for a book once. Upon getting to page two I noticed my own book on the list and didn't even realize it! Talk about not keeping track of things!

A Bloody Bloody Mess In the Wild Wild West feel free to like my book on the list, like em all, theres too many good books to pass up!

Christine Mcintyre (ChristineMcIntyre) | 16 comments True, everyone's books sound so good!

Mine is there too, and of course could use some votes - we indie authors need all the exposure we can get!

Here's my blurb, to give you an idea:

Jah na Sleep is a multi-dimensional odyssey which takes Tashi, a young artist shattered by the untimely death of her lover, from the city of Montreal to the jungles of Costa Rica, and then deeper still into the wild interior of her own heart. As her search for meaning unfolds, Tashi encounters her soulmate whose presence in her life increasingly brings into sharp relief the shadows and light within her psyche/soul. The pas de deux that ensues serves to draw her nearer and nearer to the core of her own Being.

Using poetic prose, imagery, introspection, letters and dreams to examine the tension that exists between the ego personality and the soul self, this poignant exploration of the heart leads the reader on a healing pilgrimage to the door of the authentic self, and is ultimately a celebration of the transforming qualities of love.

Shaun Horton | 248 comments Thanks to everyone that's voted for me so far, and I'm glad you popped a look Justin. My gut feeling is that most of the books on there which only have one or two likes so far, their authors have probably forgotten they signed up, hence one reason I wanted to post this again. They did start the sign-ups a while ago after all.

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) I'm also on there Mine is Eyes Like Blue Fire by Amanda M. Lyons Thanks to anyone that votes for it.
