Christine i didnt expect day to leave June after he had told her he loved her it took me completly by suprise i was like what the hell

Claudia the Night Owl He thinks he's gonna die he just wants to save her from the pain of losing him.

Olivia Berge I did not think that so many terrible things would happen throughout the book and then get one more horrible thing at the ending. Pretty much, I did not expect Day to leave June

Christine neither did I and I understood why it just took me by surprise

★ Mist ☆ Cassidy ★ Am I the only one who threw my book against the wall and started crying like a two year-old?

Ilana i think though that we needed to have that bit of unexpected ness to keep us interested enough to wait for Champion. think about the other books in the genre that have had such crazy endings to book 2.

Pandemonium had something like this happen - with a game changer happening in the last page. i think that there's something to be said about it even though it really made me crazy!

Ohmygoshh I did!

Amy Thomson I cried for the whole last four chapters, no word a lie. I didn't want it to end. And then Day get's his news, and then he leaves June, but not before buying her a beautiful necklace-oh no! It's too much, I cannot discuss this without getting emotional!
Finale words: unexpected, emotional roller coaster.

Kathy I can't believe Day walked away from June! I was so upset, why did he tell her. Oh my gosh and now we are left waiting to see what happens next.

Okay, good. I'm glad it wasn't just me :P

Emily Pissed off over her

Kaelyn Oh my god, when I finished reading that I seriously wanted to throw it in a pool of sharks, I mean I was sooooo mad! If I was about to die I would want to spend in with the one I love instead of die lonely with out anyone...I accually started screaming at it in the middle of class...

Jazz The ending was quite upsetting. After reading this I was so mad about all the negative events that happen to Day. If you look at it, what good things did happened to him? He reunited with Eden. Okay.... that's about it. Now the other side, Tess is mad with him and he may never see her again. He loves June but he just found out that he's going to die so he feels that he shouldn't stay with her. Most of his recent friends (who he could talk with) like Kaede are dead.....I could honestly go on and on with this. It's just tragic.

I couldn't cry about the ending because I was so pissed off about it. Oh and why on Earth didn't June finally tell Day that she loved him as well. I mean that was a better time if any for her to come to the realization that she loved him, but yeah....very upsetting.

I am so agree with you u_u at leats the only good thing who could happened to Day was meet his brother again, but now he will die and leave his little brother alone, I can't wait to see how the things will turn out on the third book u_u I hope that it won't end up as sad as the first two books u_u

Amy Thomson I think that, yes, a lot of awful things happen to Day but then again, it's sort of realistic. I mean he lives in a broken world, most of the time this is never shown in other dystopian book. But in honestly if he did lead the life of an undercover runner boy then these kind of things are almost expected to happen to him.
I really really (!) hope he doesn't die in Champion, but in a way, again, it would seem realistic.

no one ★ Mist ☆ Cassidy ★ wrote: "Am I the only one who threw my book against the wall and started crying like a two year-old?"

No, no your not.

That was probably the reaction Marie Lu anticipated from fangirls everywhere when she wickedly crafted
that ending
OMGOSHH IT WAS AWFULNESS

Barney Stinson fijsd;gkjsdfksd;lfjsdkjsd;lkjf;lkjdslkj;lkdj;lkjdsl;fksdj;flkajf;ljlfj ;lajf;sdajf;lkjf;sdlkfjsd;lfkjds;flkjf;lkjf;sajsd;lksja;ldksjf;fjks;lfkjsd;lfksdj;flkjfsdlkfj;adlfjka;ljkds;lfajkdf;lkajf;lkja;flj I am crying inside. I am seriously crying. Day IS SUCH A FREAKING IDIOT!!! WHY DIDN'T HE TELL JUNE HE WAS FREAK....OK. OK. LEMME sorry now I am out of caps lock. Let me rant and rave about the cliffhanging ending (which I am all for when it comes to writing. cliffhangers are an amazing strategy) First off. Marie Lu is one of the smartest authors I have ever read. The way she crafted June and Day's (I like Day vs. Daniel, don't you think? Just like I like four more than tobias...sorry, divergent reference) anyways. Their relationship is just perfect. They postpone it while they are saving the world and only let their feelings truely come out after. But, in the second book don't you notice how they are going through bumps? I mean first off, when he says he loves her and June is like 'no! He is just a stupid kid' I am like WTF! You love this dude. Calm the frick down and say it back and kiss. I love, lvoe love love, when she gives him a bath, to all the people who haven't read it you are probably like 'what is this pervert saying?' but seriously. Wasn't it just perfect? Everything! Like the tension and Day is just like, I love you but...I am sorta taking a bath...and June is like suck it up I am saving your life... moving on. When they are going to the colonies. That is just stupid. They are all weird towards each other. I hate how, although they postpone their feelings, sometimes they just forget their feelings for each other. When June is teaching Day how to fight it is just...weird. They don't feel the same towards each other like they did in the beginning in the bathroom. okay, so the book is just perfect, you are on a roller coaster of emotions like the genius Marie Lu always takes you on. You love June and fall madly in love with Day (if you are a boy then it is the opposite...) as usual. You hate the republic. AND THEN OMG. THE COLONIES. when they go to the colonies it is just like...wow. The entire first book Marie Lu made it seem that the Colonies was this uptopia. Like, it is perfect and we should just destroy the Republic and everything will be good. But Marie Lu made 2 dystopia novels in one. A dystopia novel means a book in which there is a controlling gov. usually set in the future. But Mrs. Lu, the perfect author, had combined two different governments into one. I think that was just perfect. Ok. THE FREAKING ENDING!!!! (I shall be on cap locks for the rest of this note just beware) OMG OMG OMG. STUPID DAY STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID AHHHHHHH FLKSDJFKLJA;FKJA OH MY FREAKING GOD. HE IS THE BIGGEST IDIOT IN THE ENTIRE REPUBLIC. ARE YOU KIDDING ME DAY? ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU ARE REALLY WILLING TO SEND JUNE T HER DEATHBED? WELL IT IS CONSIDERING SHE WILL BE GONE FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER ON THIS STUPID JOB! JUST TELL HER YOU ARE DYING! JUST FREAKING SAY 'HEY JUNE I AM DYING SO IF YOU STILL WANNA GO, GO! BUT IF YOU DON'T, STAY WITH ME BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!' I JUST CAN'T. oh lookie here, the caps lock is gone. Marie Lu is just so clever. I love her so much. By far one of my favorite dystopia novel authors in the entire freaking world. I love her. As a writer. As a reader...OMG JUST PUBLISH THE THIRD BOOK NOW!!!!! 'He's the legend, she's the prodigy' my a**. JUST TELL ME IF THEY STAY TOGETHER OR NOT!

Jaimie Tee I feel for you.Last night I stayed up to finish reading it and then I JUST DIED. It broke my heart. When I went to school that morning i was just like "DAY AND JUNE BROKE UP!!!!!" and everyone's just like "what?" And my friend is like "fictional characters from a book" and I was just there dying inside because I SHIP THEM SO HARD.I just really hope that June and Anden date or something and then Day has to win her over.Actually that may be entertaining.Like if she was asked to get married and she says yes and then Day finds out and still loves her.But I think that Day is "doing for it for her own good" like when people do that in books so the other person's feelings are spared, but in reality it's just destroying everyone's hearts and is hurting the other person more.Sometimes I really wish that June would just start sobbing in front of Day and just break down in tears.I don't really know why.I guess I just really want Day to see that June really loves him.

Barney Stinson Jaimie wrote: "I feel for you.Last night I stayed up to finish reading it and then I JUST DIED. It broke my heart. When I went to school that morning i was just like "DAY AND JUNE BROKE UP!!!!!" and everyone's jus..."

The hardest thing for me was the inability to talk about it. This was before I went on goodreads and I was dying inside. I just wasn't able to handle it! I searched up reactions and youtube videos of reviews and everything I could find just to see if people had that same reaction. Thankfully I relieved some of my stress but it was difficult the first few months of not being able to tell anyone I knew about it!

Jaimie Tee It really sucks when something REALLY BIG happens in a book, and then you look up and realize that the majority of people around you don't care. And then you just sit there as silent tears track down your face, because whatever just happened broke your heart, and if you tell people why you're crying they'll just shake their head at you.And when it's quiet, you just scream the characters names, and people look at you like you're crazy. But you're not crazy. You're just heart broken over a book. These authors have the power to destroy us,and we gave it to them the moment we laid eyes upon the cover.

Barney Stinson Jaimie wrote: "It really sucks when something REALLY BIG happens in a book, and then you look up and realize that the majority of people around you don't care. And then you just sit there as silent tears track down..."

Especially when the conversation goes like this

"Day and June were-"
"Who is Day?"
"They are characters in my book!" *sniff sniff*
"Oh god calm down _____ it is just a book"
"Really? It is JUST a book?!" *strangles*
And then you are charged for murder and are sent to jail so you can't read the third book...

JK! But seriously. I HATE when people are like 'gawd it is just a book' IT IS NOT JUST A BOOK!

Jaimie Tee UGH!!!I KNOW.This one time I woke up really early to buy a new book coming out and there was aline up because the first 400 people who bought the book get to go to the book signing, and this lady asks me what everyone is waiting for,and I said, "A VERY IMPORTANT BOOK," and then she says, "it's just a book." And I really just wanted to give her the 'are you kidding me' face.IT'S NOT JUST A BOOK.IT'S A PART OF MY SOUL THAT CANNOT BE ERASED.My friends just don't get it.

Barney Stinson Jaimie wrote: "UGH!!!I KNOW.This one time I woke up really early to buy a new book coming out and there was aline up because the first 400 people who bought the book get to go to the book signing, and this lady as..."

Ugh. Friends. At times they are the people you couldn't live without...at other times *cough* when you read a good book *cough*...you dread them

Olivia It made me so made, I'll save you guys and.not rant about it though.

Lindsay Katz I think it had to happen this way, although it sucks (IT SUCKS A LOT!) I think it will make Champion's story line great and yet let it come to a close, whatever the case may be. IT FREAKING SUCKS THOUGH. WHY DOES THE BAD STUFF HAPPEN TO THE ONES WE LIKE?!

Kael After finishing the book, I'm like- "I need to read the next book NOW!" Of course, surprised is an understatement. I'm really really shocked! Totally flabbergasted!

No. No your not. Unification of the nerds!

message 29: by Brittany (new)

Brittany I actually wasn't totally taken by surprise! I think I might be the only one though. Lol. I always thought there was more to Day's headaches than what was let on. So as soon as the doctor said, "There's one last thing I'd like to tell you in private..." I figured it was something serious relating to his headaches. I assumed after that he would break up with June. That is just the type of person he is. He wants to protect everyone he cares about!

I just hope Marie Lu doesn't follow in Stephanie Meyer's footsteps and do something like New Moon.
That would be a severe disappointment! She is doing so well and there are so many ways she can expand her story!

Oh, I'm the same as you. When they mentioned his headaches, from reading other books I guessed that something was up but just didn't know how Marie Lu was going to tie it into the story. What surprised and upset me was the fact that June still didn't say she loved Day. His actions were just as you said, it was just as we would think, that he would do anything to protect his loved ones.

Yeah, I'm sure Marie Lu won't do a Stephanie Meyer. In fact, I actually skipped New Moon and went on to the next book because I was getting tired of the ridiculous events that occured in that book.
