question
Do you ever start reading a series with #2 or #3?

I am completely uncapable of starting a new series without reading the first book! If you tell me "Hey you should read the #11 of this series, it's awesome!"... Well, I'll read the first 10 before I do! Is it the same for you?

Martine, I'll assume you're talking about any series, not just Chicagoland. Usually, I make a point of starting a series from the beginning. Once, someone lent me a copy of one of Christine Feehan Carpathian novels. I think it was Dark Demon. While I could follow the story, there were a lot of characters from previous books, and I knew nothing about them. Later on, I started the series from the beginning, and when I reread Dark Demon, it made much more sense.
Yea I like to start a series from beginning to end too. But there are rare occasions when I'm at the library and find a book and it's book 7 or so. And most cases I tend to read it or keep renewing it while I find the other books and catch up before reading that one. But since coming to GR I've totally looked up books I'm interested in and see what number they are on so I know where to start first and hold off on that other book. Just my problem now is finding good novel/stand alone books without there being a series to it. Have far too many of those started and some I'm slowly letting drift into the night.
yeah i started chicagoland with number 3# and went down then accidently missed number 4# and just finished number 5#...omg to find out ethan died without knowing the full story, then he just comes back like he was never gone....i couldnt really catch on to everything but OMG!! am i glad he's not gone!! im sure i'll cry when i read number 4#

I've done that by accident a few times. And then I have to go back and read them in order when I figure it out.
Not this series though. I found Some Girls Bite by chance in the library :)
