Marleigh Hello! My name is Marleigh and I wanted you to know that your books are what got me into reading in the first place. I love your books and have read every single one of them besides your latest one. I have a thing for collecting books from my favorite authors and you are one of them. Irene Martinez Ramirez | 1 comments Hi Sarah, I love your books and I think you really show an unique point of view of some situations.
My questions is that I have notice that your books follows a certain similarities with other that you have wrote. Same plot or same family situation, and always the guys who will save her or show her how to be her. Do you were aware of that?
Thank you!

Terez | 1 comments Hi Sarah! I'm Terez and I have recently become a huge fan of your writing. I have realized that all your books play in one specific town. Is there a reason you picked that town and why all your stories play there or why they constantly see or meet characters from your other books? Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Krysta hawk (krystahawk1217) | 1 comments Hi Sarah I love your books. Your books always hook me in with the interesting way you write about real struggles teens deal with. My question to you is when you think of a story do you sometime pull events from your own experiences? You are an amazing author thank you for writing such great books and I can't wait to read future books of yours to come. <3

message 357: by Daniella (new)

Daniella Hi Sarah! How do you come up with ideas for your new books? Do you find them in simple things that you notice in life, or do they just come out of nowhere? Also, what are some tips you recommend for young teen writers who want to become better at writing?

I'm Xandy and I started reading your works when I was in my senior year in high school, and "lock and key" is my favorite! that's an all in one teen book! family, friends, lovers, secrets, and everything. btw, I love Nate. --thanks for writing!, i hope I can be like you someday. ;)

Q: do you have a story plots whenever you write a book or you just let your thoughts run every time you'll make? does your mood affects what you're writing? (i'm really curious)=)))

Kait (yakate) | 2 comments Hi sarah! I absolutely love your books! They helped me though so much when I was in high school! I was wondering, when you're done writing a book how long do you wait to start writing again? And when you do start writing again is it bound to be your next story, or is it just ideas and all over the place kind of writing that sort of gets you back in the groove of things?

Meekah (mineral-not-rock) | 1 comments Hi Sarah! My name is Micah and I, along with everyone commenting on this thread,am a very big fan!I don't really read chick lit but when I saw 'Along for the ride' on the shelf in the library I decided to check it out. WOW! I can honestly say that that book was amazing! I loved it and I couldn't put it down! I literally stayed in the same spot for hours (excluding potty breaks and snacking of course) until I finished the book! Anyway... I guess some questions that I want to ask you would be: WHEN DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR? AND HOW DID YOU BECOME ONE?

message 375: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Marie (olivianmarie) | 1 comments Hi Sarah! I just wanted to say you are one of my favorite authors! I really enjoy your books and I was wondering how do you come up with your ideas? What inspires you?

message 376: by Savieta (new)

Savieta Hello, Mrs. Dessen. You are one of my favorite authors. I like the way most of your books are related to actual life-time experiences. Along for the Ride was an amazing book and i absolutely love the characters that you create. Your books offer an escape to me and i thank you for that. I was thinking about writing a book myself so i just want to ask, any advice on becoming an author?

Mayra | 3 comments Hi Sarah, I am a HUGE fan of your work. I've read every book you have published and I have to say my favorite is The Truth About Forever. I was wondering what sparks the ideas for these story lines ? How do you begin to develop these characters ? And do you sometimes add some of your qualities into the characters ?

Lydia | 1 comments Hi Sarah. I'm a big fan of The Truth About Forever and This Lullaby. Between the two books who were the funnest male and female lead characters to write? Also would you ever consider writing a short story sequel to either of the books?

message 381: by Emily (new)

Emily Kurzweil | 1 comments Hey Sarah! My name is Emily and I am a huge fan! I have to say that I love your writing! My questions are:
1) Are you planning to write a sequel to any of your books?
2) Which of your books have you enjoyed writing the most?
3) Which of your books have been your absolute favorite?
4) What inspires you to write?
5) What do you do to think of ideas for your writing?
6) How do you deal with writers block?
7) Have any of your love story been about a love in your life?
8) Do think that the love stories that you wrote about could happen to someone in real life?
9) Have any real life experiences influenced your writing?

message 382: by Sasquatch (new)

Sasquatch | 1 comments Hey Sarah! I've read quite a few books of yours! I love how you can take everyday (or everydayish) topics and make them so compelling. I have a few questions. Sorry if a few of the have been asked before.
1. Do you have a certain process you use to research for your books?
2. Which character do you personally connect with most from your books?
3. What did you read as a teenager?
4. What do you do when you get "stuck" when writing?

Thanks for taking the time to do this!

message 383: by Cierra (new)

Cierra | 1 comments Hey. My name is Cierra and I am going to be a Junior in High School. I actually started reading you're books when a friend recommended them to me a couple years ago. I loved them. I was just wondering what advice you might have for young readers and writers like myself. Right now I read for school and for fun and love it. I also love to write short stories and in my journal. lol. But thank you for your time. I love your work. (My fave is either ALONG FOR THE RIDE or DREAMLAND) :p

Marcy Marrill | 2 comments Sarah, I've enjoyed reading your books. Good writing, character development is good, always a smart girl (who usually doesn't care too much about her looks, but leads a healthy lifestyle). I love how your books connect; with with characters from previous books, places, etc. I like the familiar. I will admit that I even like the girly-teenage kissing. So, why did you decided, after all these books, to make the main character sexual active? Barely even a make-out session in the other books and now we have a sexually active couple....did you feel pressure from fans that that's just how things are now? That we should EXPECT a couple that's been together for years to have sex? Why the deviation?

Hi Sarah,

I really like your books. They are so amazing-ily good I had to get more. When I read them I have a track playing on repeat so now when I listen to that song it reminds me of the books I read.
Just wondering how do you avoid a writer's block??? I have this thing when I get bored I isolate others and start making stories so I'm hit with inspiration then after a bit it starts to fade. Any tips???

message 387: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Sarah! A huge fan of yours and from the Philippines!

1. When are you coming here in our country? Please do come here so I could give you a big hug for all the inspiration you gave me.

2. This is a question from my friend, why do almost all of your characters come from broken family?

Thank you in advance for answering my questions and for all lessons I've learned from your books. Don't underestimate girl power!

Your biggest fan,
Joseph

message 396: by Brittany Leigh (new)

Brittany Leigh (tark_leigh) Hi, I was wondering: What is the first thing that goes through your mind when you finish the rough draft of one of your books?

message 397: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (xkcpdx) Sarah,
First, omg, I love you, if I get to see you next month I might fangirl and cry.
Now questions:
Have you ever tried writing one book, but it ended up becoming another?
What book was the hardest to write?
Why did you have to change your covers?? Now they don't match :(
Have you started a new book yet or are you taking a break?
Why are you so amazing?

message 398: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I'm curious as to how you first decided to link all of your books together. Those links are sometimes so small a reader will almost miss them, you put them in so seamlessly. Is it rather simple to work in the connections or is rather difficult?

message 399: by BrookeAshley (new)

BrookeAshley (brookeashley48) | 1 comments Hi Sarah!!! My name is Brooke and I love your books so much! I have read all (including The Moon and More which, by the way, was AWESOME!) but three. I'm almost there but I cant wait until I am. It is so much fun to read an author's entire shelf. I'm so excited!! :D Okay, (breathe) now on to my question. How long do you plan on writing? Or how many books can you see yourself writing before deciding to settle down with the family? Another question, hehe :) After your books release and your on a break before the next one, do you get all kinds of ideas swimming around in your head or does one awesome one just come to you and then you decide to write on it for the next book? Just curious how it comes by you. I have to think super hard to just get a basic idea that sometimes, mostly not, works out but then I just quit because I can't get it to go anywhere haha. Well thanks for reading our questions and, again, I LOVE your books!! Thanks!
