Eh, your crossovers are quite discreet
In Abi's case it's a question of EVERYTHING she writes being set in the same 'verse, so any character she has ever written can pop up or be mentioned in a book, she just have two series that are more closely related than the rest :p
She has never hidden this, so if one follows her, one would know ;-)
I don't think of a series as belonging to the characters though, that might be why I'm not bothered by crossovers, I think of them as an author's book about some characters I really love

I've read all of your series, Josh. Holmes and Moriarity was my first series, and since it's ongoing, I eagerly await the next book.I love Jake and Adrien. Love love. But their story is done. I can re-visit them as often as I like, but they are complete.
I'm still waiting for the next H&M. :)
I did not connect as well with Will and Tyler, but I still very much enjoy the books and will re-read and re-listen as their story continues.

It's been a while since I read it - I remember enjoying the story but I don't remember what I thought about the sex. But I am another one who doesn't read for the sex scenes. :)
I love all the series, because a) I love a series. :D and b) I love how all the couples have very different dynamics.
I can't really compare A&J and H&M. I love them for different reasons. Fatal Shadows was the first book I read by Josh and I will confess it took me a while to read A Dangerous Thing. At the time, I was looking to read more romance and I am not a huge mystery fan, so... But after reading ADT I was hooked. :)

I like these though, they're subtle. Not overbearing where a character comes in and has the potential to take over.
I'll admit, while I'm eagerly awaiting the next H&M book, I am one of those who prefers Adrien and Jake, if I had to choose between them. Maybe because I read them first? I dunno. But the more I reread, the more I love Jake because I can see all the tiny, minute things he does that proves his love for Adrien before he even realizes it himself.

Oh yes, I was just listening to the I Spy audio recently and noticed that for the first time, since I hadn't read The Dickens With Love since the last time I read the I Spy stories. :D

In one book, the characters drive past Cloak and Dagger and remark on how good a bookshop it is and that the guy who owns it (i.e. Adrien) is good-looking. I'm blanking on which book and which characters, though -- I did think Kit and J.X., but now I'm thinking Will and Taylor?I love the level of cross-over which Josh does, almost like in-jokes for those of us who know his other books but which won't restrict the level of enjoyment for someone who doesn't; they wouldn't even realise that another book or series had been referenced.

Okay, now that I've finished the book, I can answer your question. You have nothing to worry about in terms of violence. It's no more violent than some of Josh's works.
In fact, I loved this and couldn't put it down. It killed me every time I had to go to sleep or this morning when I had to go to work. It was always at crucial moments in the story. Well, here, every moment was crucial, but still. lol.
So, for those who are interested, Hostile Ground comes out May 12th.
Also, if anyone cares, I tweeted my reading of it with both authors using the #HostileGround. But that was mostly a lot of "OMG, What?! GAH! I have to go to work now! I can't put this down!" lol.
I have pre-ordered Hostile Ground. Cool thing about Riptide is pre-orders are released on Friday Midnight, so you have it for weekend reading. No pesky work interruptions. :)

I am, not surprisingly, reading Stranger on the Shore. Also, there is a new Hell or High Water book out, Daylight Again by S.E. Jakes. More Tommy and Prophet craziness.
Funny I had no idea it was coming out so soon. I'd seen it on the Riptide newsletter but had not remembered the date. I checked Riptide website to see what my next pre-order was (Hostile Ground) and found it. Nice surprise for me yesterday.

I happen to really like this print edition. I wouldn't have bought it if I wasn't there in person. Ordering online I would have bought the ebook. Anyhow, this has a nice cover, with nice paper inside. It's easy to hold and handle, unlike a lot of POD books I've gotten in the last few years.

I have a crazy busy week and don't know when I'll finish it, though.

I think it happens in two different books. The first time when Adrien is at his grandmother's place in the second book (who's name escapes me). They are at the diner in town.

OMG, neither of you have read Irregulars?!?!
Just about one of Josh's best books ever, and best book by the other authors as well. If you haven't read Astrid, Ginn, or Nichol's work, this is a great introduction.

I've just read Enlightened by Joanna Chambers, the last in her m/m historical trilogy. It was excellent! I'm always rather nervous reading historical m/m (because the law was so severe) but she worked it all out very cleverly. That's not a spoiler -- they're romances so they have to have at least a HFN!
