I did eventually get to sleep but I feel like crap today. Ah well.

For now, I'm comforting myself by reading Fadeout. It seems to be working too.
I just bought Fadeout. I hope to get to it soon. I'm currently reading Enemies & Shadows. I'm way behind on these challenges, lol.
I've just finished Not Just Friends by Jay Northcote, which I really enjoyed. I think she really captured what the first term at an English university is like these days, with the students focussing rather more on drinking, worrying about money, oh and relationships, rather than their studies! The difficulties they have learning to make their own meals and share accommodation are also well portrayed.I really like Lewis and Max, the main characters, and I also liked that there are some realistically-portrayed girls in the book, as well. The trepidations of starting a relationship and the miscommunications etc. were also done very well, without too much angst (I'm not keen on over-angst). I think it's excellent!
I was also pleased to see a good very English term which one doesn't often see in books: faffing about. It isn't a euphemism; it means spending your time doing a lot of things that are not important instead of the thing that you should be doing.
For those who follow Meg Perry's Jamie Brodie Mysteries, #5 Encountered to Death is now out at Amazon.I'm looking forward to it. I've grown to really like that series, although I'm partway through three other books and hope to finish them first, Diversion, Summoner's Dirge, and The Bridge On The River Wye. Plus Mnevermind 2 Forget Me Not... (So many books!)
I spent some very enjoyable hours yesterday readingBacktrack. A tightly written little gem of a book with Joseph Hansen's talent for using few words to create vivid images and emotions. Thank you, Josh for mentioning it here.

I started Ball & Chain because it is a BOM in another GR group. I had read earlier books in the series and liked them, but I get the feeling I missed some books. There are two new characters I don't remember who seem important and I feel a little lost. So many series so little time. I am starting to see the appeal of a stand alone.

I have Thomas Elkin 2 and 3 in my to read pile so it is good to know that I have something to look forward to. At the moment I am reading Goldenboy which is the second book in Michael Nava's series about Henry Rios. I am enjoying it much more than the first book probably because I am more familiar with the main character.
That first Sidewinder book was a Out for You story, lots of sex and NO PLOT WHATSOEVER!Grr!
I was pretty disappointed with Ball & Chain, but I guess I'll read the last one (next year?) and hope it's better. :)
I mostly agree with you guys about Ball & Chain, it wasn't her best, but personally I still enjoyed most of it, I'm gonna read the last book as well as the future Sidewinder stories

I read Pressure Head at the weekend in preparation for the release of the sequel next week.My new rule of not buying the next book until I've read the previous one is encouraging me to read books that have been hanging around on my TBR list for months. It means I've had a streak of really good books too.

Wonderful. I'm really looking forward to this one, but I'm still in the middle of Brandstetter #12 A Country of Old Men. I intend to use Backtrack as a comfort read after being forced to say goodbye to Dave Brandstetter. :-)

I'm really looking forward to the sequel too, because I loved Pressure Head. The sequel is called Relief Valve and is due on 25 March.

Beat me to it. I was just about to impart that pearl of wisdom. I'm really looking forward to it, so much so that I'll probably bump it up my to read list.

Once I like an author I like I tend to read everything I see by him or her--even if it's only "like" and not "love" for me. I also like to finish a series. I'll pass on Sidewinder if it is primarily erotica. I like character driven stories with a nice amount of action and slow building relationships with extra UST. One of my problems with the beta couple in B&C was I had skipped a book and my thoughts when I first read about them together was "Oh, two people I don't know having sex. That's nice. I guess."
I had some other thoughts as I read B&C, but it wasn't a bad book --just not one I enjoyed as much as the earlier books. I have to say this too: (view spoiler). But it was a fun read all the same.

Touch & Geaux is my favourite, even if I want to slap pretty much everyone at some point :p

I've got both the ebook and the audio. I haven't decided which I'll get to first, but it'll likely be the audio the way things are going. Can't wait!
