What Are you Reading?
Just finished Black Cat Ink (Bellingham Mysteries 3). I simply adore these mysteries. The second one was the funniest so far, but what i enjoyed in this 3rd one in particular was learning more about Nick, watching a quite funny/sweet maturing Peter, and that inner article-composing thing that Peter does.Next, Archer's Heart.

Have you read L.B. Gregg's Men of Smithfield series? Those are more the romance series with mystery overtones kind of books. I enjoyed them. The first book is Men of Smithfield: Mark and Tony.
Or maybe Jordan Castillo Price's PsyCop mystery series, which has paranormal elements to it. The first in the series is Among the Living. I highly recommend. :-)

I agree! Whether it's Bill or Lydia, the books are equally enjoyable.

It's all chaos with me at the moment - I'm reading four books at the same time, switching back and forth. My working situation all over again, only at home. I'm not sure yet if I really like that...

Or Neil Plakcy's Mahu series. This one takes a few books to find the romance, but it's totally worth it! I just need to get the latest book and I'll be all caught up.

Btw, needed some comfort reading again last night, was a zombie at work all day, and started Kari's Plunder, 2nd to Spoils. So far it's very good. And speaking of which, I need to go do my laundry so I can read the next two chapters while the washing machine runs.

Just finished Nor Iron Bars a Cage by Kaje Harper. I loved it from beginning to end. This was something different for me since it involves sorcery.It's part of the Love Has No Boundaries Stories in the M/M group. It's free and about 300 pages! :D

I am SO excited! A new Mahu book is out by Neil Plakcy. How'd he sneak this one past me? And I just saw on FB that Neil is writing the next one.
I've been so busy lately I haven't read at all.I only Finished Bolt-Hole by Amy Lane. It was nice, although not one of my favorites.
I really need to go through your choices and see if there's something I may love :)
I haven't read so much lately either, but I am listening to Fair Game while working on my daughter's sweater, and I am of course enjoying it immensely. I read it a couple of years ago and had planned on a re-reading, but this is even better :). In between I read Slashback, I love the brother dynamic in those stories.
I am frustrated! You are mentioning so many interesting books and authors, I want to read them all! And there aren't enough free time in the world to make it! I wish I could follow my daughter's example, she is currently relaxing after finishing her Master of Arts, and is "reading a lot of books, surfing and camping in the woods with her boyfriend". Skip the surfing and I could read even more :)But I have no vacation planned for this summer, and need to work, and exercise, and knit that sweater I promised her, and there are new books being published and recommended here continuously (not to mention old ones I also want to read!)

I don't know what it is with me right now, but I'm reading about five books at the same time and not making very good progress with any of them (except the Strange Fortune audio book). I still have a hundred pages left to read of Third You Die and I've got stuck in the midway of both Lover At Last and The Casual Vacancy. One thing I'm going to promise you though, is that I WILL finish reading our traveling book As Meat Loves Salt this weekend. Soon you'll have yet another book in your to-read list, Anne. Hmm, this isn't really helping, is it...?
I started reading Harper Fox's Kestrel's Chance last night and one book I actually finished reading this week was Passionate Hearts: The Poetry of Sexual Love. And I liked that one. :-)
Anyway, congratulations to your daughter for finishing her Master of Arts. Sounds like she has really earned and deserved her reading/surfing/camping time. :-) Are you planning to complete knitting her sweater before her graduation?

No, it's not really helping ;). But I still look forward to that book.
Thanks, and no, I think she will have to wait for winter to get that sweater, although it would make a sweet graduation gift. But I am not sure I will manage that. But who knows, it is getting faster than I thought, thanks to the audio books of Josh's that make me able to knit and "read" at the same time.
I should probably also order that poetry book you mentioned, those glimpses you showed of poems in the CUTYS thread were lovely.
Well thank goodness I seem to be surrounded by people who understand about reading several books at the same time. Well Ok a dozen books in my case… It would be more but the poetry library has a strict ration of 4 books at a time. Congratulations to your daughter Anne. She graduated from a Scottish university I think? Jay Parini, the author of one of my current reads, studied and taught at St Andrews for a while.

I third (?) the good-frustration scream, lol :) It seems that the more stress is added, such as moving at the end of this month, and the more non-enjoyable the teaching, the more books i read at the same time in different (sub)genres. With all the things going on, plus visiting family, also a happy-stressful-emotional event, i was really glad for the relatively quiet flight time, when i just concentrated on one book, and so i read the wonderful Scrap Metal cover to cover. But now it's back to many again - Brat Farrar, Archer's Heart, and When the Saints Go Marching In, but Brat Farrar and Archer's Heart have my divided attention right now.At some point i'll try again the Mahu books since you guys like them so much :)

I'm reading Megan Derr's Dance with the Devil, and am totally digging it, especially liking how it's broken up into different cases (and the case timeline is shuffled around.) Very fun read, especially if you like paranormal in your mysteries.Which made me think that it would be a really fun TV show too. Which then made me sad-face because it would totally be awesome to have any of these m/m mystery series on TV. (Any of Josh's, Psycop, Dead in L.A., etc.) Maybe someday... (I did finally watch the first two seasons of the Husbands web series. Very funny. Highly recommended!)

I have been proof-reading her essays and dissertation these last four years, and they have varied from studies of British sub-cultures, to political Islam and the partition of India and Pakistan, the uprising in Chechenya etc. I know nothing about any of it, but did help with the language in general. I also helped my niece, who just finished her law studies with her dissertation about consumer law in Norway. So, it shows that life is different and varied and an interesting place to stay :)
I hope you get the chance to visit Scotland and Edinburgh one day, it is a lovely country and a lovely city, and I adore the Scottish dialect, although I don't always understand what they say.

Maybe I should order that and the collection of love poems you mentioned in an earlier post, together. Maybe also that Robert Frost collection? Seems I have been bitten by the same bug as you, dear Johanna.
I do believe there is some room on one of my shelves still. I don't think these three volumes will be the ones that turn me into a hoarder, right :)
My Kindle is probably broken, so I have to order a new one, I am wondering about the paper-white. Anyone who can say something about it?

You guys have really got me i..."About the kindle paperwhite, i'm very pleased with mine, but i'm not awfully picky about the light issues that some people complain about. I find the light adjustment option really helpful, and i could read for hours during a flight just by the light of the kindle. You do see just a bit more illumination/discoloration at the top and bottom parts of the page, at certain light variations, but if you don't look for that, i find it just fine. I hope this helps :-)

So it IS contagious! LOL. The poem collection Passionate Hearts: The Poetry of Sexual Love that Swift was reading has an "sequel" Intimate Kisses: The Poetry of Sexual Pleasure. I bought the Kindle version yesterday, but I haven't started reading it yet. Both collections have quite good ratings and reviews here in GR.
