It wasn't meant in a negative way, since coming to this group I have learned to adore audio books!

For example, while working on a boring spreadsheet at work, or driving, or housework, or knitting.

Oh no, these days I seem to to plan all over the place. Having 70+ unread books on my coffee table will do that, I guess. My goal is always to clear the table, but I know it will never happen. So I plan, and I plan, and I replan, and the shinys always get in the way. Of course they do! lol. I just like to think I have things all set in stone.

AE on audio is just out of this world experience. .... the narrator is so good and does the most perfect Jake. .... I could not even let my mind wander..... all emphasis was on the story. ... therefore listening in the car was not always a good idea. ...;)

Which I always did, because I *hate* filing and would put it off and let it pile up.

I am so much looking forward to the AE audio books! I want to finish re-reading the series before I start in on that, though. I easily lose focus with audio books, so it really only works for me in the car, or sometimes while eating lunch.

Someday I'll get to that delightful treat. Such a great series! And I bought The Rifter a few weeks ago, so I am keen to start in on that for the first time!

I have books on my Ipad in monthly folders and I have piles of books on my bedroom table. Most of it is m/m but there are also a non-fiction books as well. I am always a bit concerned that I give adequate time to study on ethics and spirituality because of my pastoral role and so i use the piles to help me keep a balance. It reminds me not to forget to touch base in other areas.
Like you I also have the Michael Nava series and the Brandstetter series waiting to get through. I have a few easy to read shifter series to get through as well. I also have the Special Forces series and In the Company of Shadows and probably a few others.
i have been told by my sister that my piles of books are intimidating, but i love being surrounded by books. I am not working at the moment and it is so good to have extra time to devote to reading.
At the moment I am reading Isolation. The author sent it to me ages ago. It is m/f romantic sci fi with a mystery thrown in plus aliens. I have read most of her m/m stories and this one is good too. At the same time I have started to read L.B. Gregg Men of Smithfield series. I really like the way that some of the characters are so flawed, sometimes impolite and also unapologetic. It makes them real and also entertaining.

After Adrien English series, I realized how many good books I need to re-read, so now I'm beginning James Buchanan's Taking The Odds series. Nicky is for ever one of my favorite characters.

Right now I'm on the third Bound book by Ava March. Regency m/m romance.
Her settings are always impeccable, and the stories have been good.
The thing that niggled at me was the two shared a bed and then Vincent went to his room to muss the covers. No way is a servant not going to notice stains and oil all over one bed and the other one with clean sheets, even though the bed's been intentionally rumpled to show it's been slept in. These guys are NOT doing their own laundry.
Knitpick much? LOL. Which is why I'm having trouble writing my own Regency.

Organizing by month does help to touch base in other genres! It also helps to remind myself that I've owned a book for too long without reading it! lol.
Special Forces is such a great series. If you're part of Aleks's GR group, a bunch of us are doing a reread in January, you could jump in on that as a first timer, I think there's one or two doing that with us already.

It just made me laugh. Which I needed after the MC was shot and then stalked by a mountain lion with a sniper somewhere in the bush with a gun trained on him. Fun stuff. No, really. lol.

That crap was done by hand and sheets would have not been changed every day (or every week).

In the meantime I'll be starting When Love Comes to Town, which is a YA MM romance set in Ireland in 1992. Apparently the author was a school teacher who used a penname because he taught in a religious school and didn't want to out himself. He died in 2002, though I don't know how old he was.

In one sense I want it to be, because I need to read Rouge, this final book in the Croak trilogy before the author, Gina Damico comes to our teen book group on the 13th.
On the other hand, I do want to be able to savor a good book.

Wow! The sabotage of the heavy water factory is one of the iconic stories from the second world war, I wonder what the author has made out of that.
The premises of a sort of relationship between one of the saboteurs and a Nazi officcer seems very far fetched though...

I've read a few of Ava March's books and have enjoyed them. I liked the Bound series, laundry issues notwithstanding. ;) Maybe the staff think Vincent has a whole lot of fun by himself? ;)
I've been working my way through Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series over the last couple of months and I've really been enjoying it. Book 11 is next and I am looking forward to more Jules and Robin.
I am reading and loving Why Straight Women Love Gay Romance.... very interesting and insightful... and plain funny at times... like when one is talking about too much sex in MM books and at inappropriate times like when escaping criminals/murderers/monsters and yet they have time to have blowjobs in the middle of escaping....;)

It's very well written and a good book, but don't expect lots of roses or anything. Neil's coming out to friends and family, as in real life, especially in the 90's, was a bit rough.
I'm off to read something with a much happier ending now. Like all the alcohol he consumes throughout the book, I need a happier ending.

Reading Adrien English as well as Taking the Odds series made me want to read all my old, old favorites. Like Elegant Corpse or Shades of Grey, Zero at the Bone or Deadly Nightshade... Arrrgh...! So many books.. old AND new...

BTW when I first started Deadly Nightshade I couldn't go past the first pages because Stanley was a bit too flamboyant for me. At the second try I loved him, and Tom. I've got all six books on paper. I'm reading Psycop with relish at the moment. A fully realised world and so much better than the last M/M I tried. I'm enjoying the little touches of humour
