Yeah, great, Josh, three points. 🙄
I'm rereading The Hell You Say for one of the other categories, though, and that one has tons of points, so thank you for letting Adrien stop in for a haircut (14 points total: 7 for the haircut, 7 more for walking into the salon)!
You wouldn't want to do a quick rewrite and have Adrien assemble some Ikea furniture for the win, would you?

I haven't read much during the pandemic- I've found it so hard to sit down and read... I did finally finish a book (took about two months) that I did enjoy even though it took me a while. Wormwood Summer is a gay urban fantasy. The vibe is very similar to say, Hailey Turner's Soulbound series or Rhys Ford's UF work.
I enjoyed it a lot- the world-building was interesting and like the competing magic systems between the more nature-based Fae and witch magic vs the more orderly spells of alchemy.
It also felt good to just be able to finish a book- like, oh, I CAN do this...

Hi Tracy! :) :) :)
I missed your message somehow! Good to see you! Hope you're well. I'm glad you are enjoying reading again. Yay! It's a great feeling isn't it? I've also had some times lately when reading has been difficult, and it's amazing to come out of that. Yes, you can do it! Actually, the book in my message above, Winter's Orbit, rescued me from my non-reading time and it was amazing. Anyway, hang in there and thanks for stopping by! See you around, friend! :)

Yay! I love the Psycop books. I might have to restart them from book one in audio one of these days. I also love the narrator. He’s got the best voice!

Some of them are from the Psycop series.

I just finished Other Half, PsyCop #12. Looking forward to re-reading it when the audiobook comes out. A series re-listen is a great idea.

Thanks for this mention. I also enjoyed it. Happy that Book 2 is due in late June.

I am re reading the series and enjoying every sarcastic nonhuman comment on humanity.
Just want to say that I'm currently reading Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex and it's REALLY good. It's not the same as The Invisible Orientation: An Introduction to Asexuality, which was also good. This is very different, covers different topics, and is over all, spectacular.
I just finished the chapter on romance and it really made me think about how the world puts romance on a pedestal so much that you can't have a close friend or other family member be on your insurance, or be the person to take care of you when you get older if you don't have a romantic partner/husband/wife. And that's mostly because the way the system works, they want your spouse to be your unpaid caregiver when you get ill or get older.
I have not yet read this one, but on a similar note, sorta, I found this book Already Toast: Caregiving and Burnout in America , which my dad is going to start reading soon and I just highlighted it in my Biography & Memoir library newsletter that's going out early next week.
Anyway, reading lots of things to give me thinky thoughts.

Sounds interesting, Jordan. Keep on thinking those thoughts! :)
I love looking at non-fiction and learning about new things, but I am really bad at actually reading it! I've read two(!) non-fiction books all the way through(!) in the last year and I am very proud of myself for it! I've started a few others and not finished (yet!), which I am less proud of. :)

I'm not always good at reading nonfiction either. But this was a topic I was interested in and then it just grabbed me and was/is a very interesting look at being asexual.

I wish I'd read it a year ago when it first came out and a lovely, feel-good, kind, hopeful book would have done me a lot of good in the early days of the pandemic! Anyway, now I've read it and it made me really happy. If anyone's looking for a nice, gentle book where people are kind and there's a lovely big queer happy ending, this one's worth a look. Take a mental health break to the seaside. :)

'Lies With Man' shines a light on anti-gay policies. It's also a great legal novel

I had the same difficulty--to be honest, I'm not quite past it yet, but I've started buying books again, so that's (probably?) a good sign.

Kaje Harper's Hidden Wolves series. I'd read Unacceptable Risk a couple of years ago (the MLR edition with an unfortunate cover) and re-read this slightly edited edition with a lovely new cover a few days ago. Books 1-5 (originally published 2011-2016) have been slightly edited with lovely new covers. A brand new Book 6 came out this month.
I'm now on Book 4, which has been a bit slower going for me due to dreading the consequences of one of the MCs actions... Nonetheless, this has made be remember how much I've enjoyed Kaje's writing.
As noted in Ebook freebies and special offers, Book 1 is still free, at least on Amazon U.S.

Yes! I love that series, though book one is my favorite. I’ll get to the latest one eventually lol

I’m currently obsessed with this John Wiltshire series. Audio narration is exceptional as well.

The bookclub with my colleagues always reads several books during the summer vacation. One of the books this summer is Lee Child's One Shot which is book #9 from his Jack Reacher series. Surprisingly I enjoyed it so much that I started to listen to the series from the beginning. We're also reading Andre Aciman's Call Me By Your Name, which I suggested and nobody else had read. I'm curious to know what they think of it! :-)
Oh, actually two of my suggestions were accepted into our summer-reading-list. The other one is F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. I'm looking forward to rereading that! (Or rather: relistening to it! I have the highly enjoyable audio narrated by Jake Gyllenhaal.)

We've had our bookclub with colleagues for 10 years now and in addition to great meetings, interesting discussions, fun company and delicious food :-D I've read so many books I would have never picked out by myself. That's truly the beauty of a bookclub. :-)

I do recommend the third: The Bridge of Silver Wings. It's a very suspenseful story and you should appreciate Nikolas more. Admittedly, some readers will not find Nikolas tolerable at all and his character definitely pushes against the envelope of being thoroughly irredeemable.
I did this weird thing and began the series reading Book 7, Enduring Night, and then went back and read Books 1-6. That obviously meant I read all the spoilers but it also made me appreciate Nikolas from the start.
My “summer reading” this year has been heavily weighted towards fantasy and paranormal.
I read M.A. Grant’s Rare Vigilance and just finished her The Darkest Court trilogy (Prince of Air and Darkness, The Iron Crown, The Marked Prince). Before that Kaje Harper’s Hidden Wolves series, Josh’s Bell, Book and Scandal audiobook, and ZAM’s The Deep series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/1463...).

Bought this years ago and I haven't read it yet! I will get to it eventually! It's an entertaining series.

I've just decided that my goal for this year is to read all the ebooks I acquired in 2013. It was my first year of Kindle (and Calibre with its lovely dates!) and there's maybe ten things left, so it's totally doable. I'm embarrassed to say there's a book of Josh's on that list! What a terrible fan I am!
Alison wrote: "I've just read three books I picked up in 2014, all angsty contemporary romance. I enjoyed them, but it's kind of funny because I know now that angsty contemporary romance is not really my thing, and I don't think I would have bought them now, but back then, I was picking up everything that was popular in m/m and on sale or free and I just collected an enormous amount of books in the early years of having an ereader."
Funnily enough, I can absolutely, totally, completely relate. :-)

11 Anticipated Books By Trans/Non-Binary Authors.
It is a good thing that it was published in Teen Vogue. Not that I knew that it existed before 10 minutes ago ;-), but it is a branch of Vogue, so it is an important mainstream magazine.
*on paper, because the paperback costs less than the ebook (!).
