What Are you Reading?

I was going to write that I'm turning slightly green and then wasn't so sure if green is associated with envy in English. ;) Anyway, happy reading, Ije, I'm looking forward to this one! :-)

You can definitely "be green with envy," Calathea, not to worry! :) You can also be green for other reasons. Like if you're turning green, it can be because you feel sick.
I, too, am envious of Ije! :)

Enjoy! 😆

Did I tell you that am in the Green Party? ;-)
Anyway soon it will be our turn. In the meantime, enjoy the book, dear Ije!

Antonella, I voted Green for my party vote in the last NZ election and I thought of you! :)

Thank you from me and from Planet Earth ;-)

What do you think of Joel Leslie as a narrator? I've been considering using him for a project.

Oooh, I'm 100% sure you will fall in love with Josh's audio books, Darlene. Even though I've reread most of her books several times as print books and ebooks, hearing them in audio is always a brand new, awesome experience!

You'll love it. It has this great vintage mystery vibe going on along with all the twists and turns in the plot. :-) And it's full of fun, delicious, spot-on relationship... situations.

I mean no disrespect to Pierce Mather, who remains one of my favorite characters. That scene where he is working late at night in bed on his laptop is so absolutely true to form I almost cried.

That's terrific!
That's terrific!

I love Joel Leslie. I'm listening to him today :)
A Darker Shade Of Magic has been recommended to me before. At least once or twice. I’ll really need to take a look at it sooner rather than later.

I really like his works! I've bought a few books I'd otherwise have skipped because he narrated. I would heartily recommend Marshall Thornton's Femme as a great example.
He also did Hemovore by Jordan Castillo Price, and he's great with accents, actually doing a fantastic job or Alexis Hall with the Billionaire books. How to Bang a Billionaire

I've listened to three books Joel has narrated: 1) Romancing the Ugly Duckling by Clare London; 2) Cronin's Key by N.R. Walker; and 3) How to Bang a Billionaire by Alexis Hall. I was SO impressed with him in all of them. If you didn't know it, you'd swear there is more than one person voicing these books. I thought his work on Cronin's Key was one of the best audio performances I've ever heard (certainly near the top), but he surpassed with with his work on How to Bang a Billionaire. I know Joel personally from GRL and he's a really nice person.

Is t Working It a Lambda finalist?
I looked through the romance finalists and was really disappointed in their selections. Most of it was things no one’s read, or if they did, most of the, hated it, here on GR. So odd. Proof, I think, that even awards are subjective.

I read this in the past week. I really liked the way it was written, especially for the first 60-75%. I enjoyed how Nolan kept exceeding Zack's expectations when they were still so unsure of each other, but hoping for more. What did you think?

Joel Leslie also narrated Red Dirt Heart by N.R. Walker and several other books of her. Also Mark Cooper vs America by Lisa Henry. Really good so I totally recommend him.

I'm liking it so far. I liked seeing the change in Zack from in the office to out of the office, as well as his coming to rely on Nolan at work.
His Quiet Agent by Ada Maria Soto just released in audiobook!
I sampled it first. The narrator is ok, he’s a bit loud, but otherwise, I guess ok. I bought it anyway, since I was hoping for it in audio, and I didn’t think it would ever happen.
Currently listening to Skin After Skin sporadically, with about nine hours to go! It’ll be awhile before I get to anything else. Lol.

LOL! I've just posted this in «What we're listening to», you were half an hour earlier ;-).

And also, Best of Both Worlds, which was good, i thought, and interesting because of the format - short, 100 words scenes.

Because dragons... I have to share this with you guys. Julie Kagawa is a very well known YA fantasy author, and she does these amazing clay dragons. I think she might even sell them on Etsy. Or at least, she used to. Don't know if she still does.

I was going to post this too. I hadn't heard anything until the email this morning, so it's possible it's a very new thing if neither of us heard about it until today. Plus, it's not on GR yet.
