What Are you Reading?

I don't know. I don't know if I should, in fairness.

If I were you, I'd go with good stuff first. :)
What Susan said, Josh. After all, life is short. Right?
I finished reading Maze Born Trouble the other day, reread Night Watch, and am now rereading MBT and catching all the details I missed from reading it too fast the first time. No wonder nothing made sense!

Just finished reading Ginn Hale's Feral Machines. OMG, if you have time to read it along with our BOM, you should. It's freaking brilliant and amazing! I was completely blown away. It's set in the same universe as Maze-Born Trouble, but they're no where near similar. Just go read it. You'll be glad you did. :-D

Cool! I haven't read it yet, so thank you for reminding us about it. I'm adding it to my read-during-the-holidays list... :-)

Can't wait. CANNOT WAIT. :-)
Can't wait. CANNOT WAIT. :-)

And up until 80-90% I was still scared I wouldn't get my HEA. But I did. In the end.
Really sweet, adorable, wonderful, well written holiday story. The best I've read this season so far. Loved it and read it in one sitting because I couldn't wait to see how it ended.

The other day I was trying to decide what to read after finishing the AE re-read and I almost went with this, but I was afraid it would be too sad or melancholic, so I decided to try Bear, Otter, and the Kid instead.
Maybe I should've trusted my first instinct, because I'm not enjoying it very much. It's my first TJ Klune book and maybe his writing style isn't for me, but I don't really care for the characters either.
Granted, few books can survive the trial of being read so soon after a Josh Lanyon's full-immersion.

Feral Machines is awesome!

Ribbons and Frills - lovely; reminiscent of the Kinky Boots story (which i love), and new and exciting in its own right.
A Cop for Christmas - great feel-good Christmas story
Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles - another wonderful Christmas story
Swift Justice - this is a mainstream mystery, and it was quite good. I'll be reading the second one.

Got a chance to read this on my lunch break. So sweet!

Got a chance to read this on my lunch break. So sweet!

I had the same issues with Bear and Otter. I tried several times and gave up. Someone suggested to get the audio book and give it another chance. I did not mind listening to it, but Bear and his internal bantering took a bit to get used to it. I found book 2 better though.

I gave up halfway through it, when I realized I couldn't wait for the book to just end.
I hope it wasn't an example of what to expect from all the other T.J. Klune's books, because there're a few that seem interesting from the blurbs.
I've heard that many of his books are actually better on audio and your experience seems to confirm it. Maybe I should try directly the audiobook next time.

Now reading A Family for Christmas - light and sweet so far.
Once Upon a Time in the Weird West just came out today! Just reading the blurb and seeing who some of the authors are is making me squirmy to read it!
But I'm currently reading The Curse of the Blue Scarab, of course, and must finish that one first.

Same!

Ditto same! I am so keen for that! :)
Finished
Wow, those roaches. I can't get over the time and thought she put into that world-building.
Anyway, so enjoyable.

Am saving Josh's newest, Scarab etc. Very excited about it.
Have a wonderful holiday all!

And then I realized it's 400 pages! *GULP* lol. Well, for sure it's going to be good reading, so why not have more of the good stuff?
Though I was also hoping to read it for inclusion on our print book list, so the sooner I get through it the better, at least for now.

Bought it. No idea when I'll be able to read it, probably during Christmas vacation. Feels good to have it on the Kindle, though. :-)

Wasn't it wonderful? I liked Seven Summer Nights a lot. So many wonderful, loveable characters and a story with more than just a pinch of magic. :-)

Thank you! And it costs only $4.89 instead of $6.99!
ETA: Probably because Dreamspinner had got 30% off today and tomorrow!

Hugs back!!!
(after 5.5 hours of Christmas shopping I needed a hug, thank you, Loretta!)

Thank you! I send you virtual hugs.
I'm absolutely in favour of hugging people I like.

Did you know about the anthology

I didn't. At first I thought that it is not for me, but then I read: «the anthology will focus on the traditional macabre elements of horror coupled with the possibility for romance.»

Started reading it yesterday :-) *some more hugs*

Very true! Always the right time.
Lots of holiday shorts over the past few weeks. Highlights include the lovely Three Dates of Christmas and the charming The King of Cups (YA, an American college student in London unexpectedly spends Christmas at his roommate's family's home in Scotland). Just finished The Douglas Fir, another highlight.
So our romance section of the print LGBTQ list for the library ended up being extremely short. But I was able to get some good MM on there, I think. Overall, we included:
The Mermaid Murders
All the Wrong Places
Once Upon a Time in the Weird West
Gays of Our Lives
21 Questions
Behrouz Gets Lucky
Awkward Silence, Volume 05
Rise of the Rain Queen
Love on Call
At All Costs
Now we just have to finalize the other sections and send it off to be printed in March. :-D Almost there.
