And I should say I love that you're doing this, Jordan. That's very cool. Good on you. :)

And I just remembered another site that I haven't looked at very much, but also has potential: https://queerscifi.com/
It's obviously about queer sci-fi. :) It's run by Angel Martinez, J. Scott Coatsworth, and B. A. Brock.

Ah, that's the site I thought worth following. Thank you, dear Alison.

When it gets published, I'll post a link for you guys. I've got to get trained in how to use the software first.

Right now, I'm going to create lists of must-read books with MM Romance and various genres like fantasy, paranormal, and mystery and a list of blogs. I will also talk about using GR to find good books/authors and groups.

I'm not sure what else I'll talk about. Or what else needs to be talked about for new MM readers.

I've read the first half of Fallocaust book 1 (so around 450 pages of 900.) It's very readable and tense--like a very violent soap opera, but for me, it was way too dark, and I would personally find it hard to describe as sweet, even with the romance. The rape, non-con, cannibalism, violence, etc, was really heavy for me personally, so I had to stop at that point since I didn't think I could take it going even darker. Just my experience.

It's very readable though, so for readers who really enjoy darker reads, it may be up your alley. If you dislike darker reads, and dislike things like rape and non-con in your books, then I wouldn't rec this book for you.

Sounds like a "not only no but HELL NO" to me. Don't mind dark but I don't like rape or non-con.

I think Snowball is the better book. I've been listening to it on audio at night and I'm pretty proud of that book.

But Winter Kill is the colder, snowier, winterier book. :-D IMHO

Yeah, tough call. I guess, of the "sub-topics" given for the book list's title "First Day of Winter": "snow themed" "wintery books" and "best books to curl up with under the covers" etc... Either one would fall under all of them. Lol. Wouldn't look right to have two books by the same author or I'd put both. :-P

I feel for you both. It's a sad state of affairs when you haven't got the time or energy for books. And Sabine, I wouldn't have been just irritated, I would have been devastated. I am commuting now myself ( just two more weeks, yay!) and bring my kindle, knitting and I-pod with audiobooks downloaded out of fear for not having anything to interest me. :)

The problem is, that I can't read so often in a tram anymore, because I get nauseatic. But I got it covered, by thinking what all will happen to Tucker and about the whole book. Later I have written it down to see if I am in the same boat as Josh :-D . I know I am weird.

I would be so annoyed if I didn't have anything to read on my journey to work. I normally have either a kindle or IPad to read on and my IPod for listening to books. I have them with me for all my commutes and travels.

That would drive me nuts too!

I've accustomed myself to reading before falling asleep. Now, even if I'm dead exhausted, I can't sleep unless I read at least a page, or at least attempt reading a paragraph. lol.

It's awful when you can't read at all! Or when you forget your earbuds on the way to work for the audio book. For me, while I've been reading print books on my morning and evening commute, audio books are much easier because they allow me to hold on to something and don't take up space in a standing-room-only train car! I need to get back to my audio books soon. I haven't listened to an audio book in a few months.

I'm currently reading The Iron Jackal, which is book three in a four book series. It's a lot like Firefly so people either love it or hate it because of that. I enjoyed the first two books years ago, but never got around to finishing the series until now. I'm hoping I will still enjoy them.

Since there are dog lovers here, I just found this pretty awesome book: Lucky Dog Lessons: Train Your Dog in 7 Days. It gets released next month. I found an uncorrected proof at the library and have read a few sections and I like what he has to say and how he says it. Apparently the author has a tv show on CBS called "Lucky Dog". I've not heard of it before. Maybe others here have?

I got fed up with the sci-fi book I just wasn't in the mood for that was going to take me forever to get through. So last night I started reading Murder on the Eightfold Path and instantly felt much better about the world after getting frustrated with the previous book and with my stupid phone for deciding that it has no internet connection and can't do anything. Grrr. Still grrring over that, but at least I have a good book to distract me!

It's so awesome when a book distracts us from grrring and restores our good mood. I like that feeling of surprise when i realize that instead of grrring, i'm smiling again, or in a better mood, and interested in what i'm reading.

KC | 4897 comments Read Dal Maclean's Bitter Legacy. It's brilliant. Even as it broke my heart several times (but so did Adrien English and that's my favorite series ever, so i guess it depends on the how it breaks one's heart and then mends it), anyway..., there are so many things i loved about it: the writing is extremely good; the characters are so very flawed and raw and human that at times you're not sure what to do with them, in a good way, in a way that makes you think and care about them; the mystery is compelling and well-paced; and there's an incredibly emotional arc to the story. Definitely looking forward to Dal Maclean's next book.
