I love that series. I think she is going to complete it this year or at least write another story.

Oh yes, I'm enjoying Chandler hugely.

And I agree with you about the pauses. I think it was actually a good thing that I listened to The Long Goodbye. There were natural pauses in between listening — more than there would have been if I would have been reading it myself.

I know. I just listened to the entire series on audible again, about a month or two ago. Now, I'm thinking I might need to pick up the paperbacks and read them again soon. Wow. :-D

Or Jake. I have friends who have a black labrador called Jake. I would love to have a dog. I told my sister that I would call my dog 'Sidney Chambers' after the character in the novels and she said Sidney is not a good name for a dog. I think it is a great name and works for male or female. :)

Yeah, I thought about Jake. I would LOVE to name my dog Jake. The problem is, I already have a pothos plant named Jake. And I do talk to my plants, so that lets out the idea that I can have two things with the same name. Which was why I thought of Adrien.

This also lets out Rake and Archer too, as my spider plants already have those names. :-)

This reminds me that I wanted to name a beta fish Cobweb, after the character from Wraeththu. I should add that name to my list. And others from the series.

:-) I do like Adrien.

I was thinking of Virgina, after my grandmother, who will never get great grand humans. The only problem with this name is that I have a college friend by the same name whom I've lost contact with, that I'm a bit worried about. (Last I knew she'd picked up a controlling BF and stopped hanging with her friends, though we tried to talk to her about it) so, I'm not sure I want to think of this person I worry about, even though I like the name, and I'm sure my Dad and my grandmother would like it.

I've also been thinking about Emma. Because, you know, she's a girl after my own heart, what with wanting the horse and all.

And I thought about Swift, too. I mean, I AM getting a Greyhound. But I'm not so sure Swift sounds right.

Of course, it will also depend on the name the dog comes with. For all I know, I might like it. Sasha, Jess, Hope, and Sanity are current dogs up for adoption. If they're still there in two weeks, we'll see. I do like these names, except for Jess. I know a Jessi and a Jesse, and it would be weird. lol.

Sanity, the second up from the bottom looks like an Adrien in the picture on the right, I think.

Oh sure! I enjoy snarky reviews too -- I mean if they're actually funny and they pick on genuine stuff. That's why I love Honest Movie Trailers. Even when they're picking apart a movie I loved, it's more like sharing a joke between friends.

I don't really read reviews much beforehand now. Which probably means I take fewer chances on authors I don't know? What I mostly love about reviews -- good or bad -- is that it's a way to prolong the pleasure of a book I've already read. If I really loved (or really hated) a story, I'll sometimes hunt for reviews and see what someone caught that I missed or just to hear more about the character or the book. Also if I was left with a giant question mark. SO DID HE DIE OR NOT? :-D

That's why I love our discussions here!

That's the other thing I love about ex-racers, they're already leash trained! And so gentle on the leach, even when they really want something, they don't pull hard, like other dogs. I will have to teach her how to go up and down stairs, what windows are, and that my hardwood floors are slippery so not good for running, but I'm looking forward to teaching my dog weird things like that. :-)

They get called by a number at the track so that their fans can yell out their names and not distract them during a race. Because of that, they say it's very easy to rename a Greyhound. Plus, they also claim these dogs are quick learners too. :-)

I find it interesting the variety of personalities in greyhounds. Some are shy. Some not so much. Some have lots of energy and others just want to sleep a lot.

I'm ok with a shy dog. I live in a very quiet building, which I think would be good for a shy/skittish dog. I'm also an introvert, that will stay home most of the time, but would also like to get out and socialize with other greyhounds and parents, so a good mix, I think. I hope.

I would get to know your dog for a couple of weeks first. You need to be sure she'll come back to you when you call! Also, she may be shy of other dogs; you'll find out when you walk her. But if she's OK, it may well be good thing, because only another greyhound will get her to run flat out.

You'll find you're popular with other (non-greyhound) dog owners whose dogs want to chase yours -- they'll be exhausted at little effort from their owners!

Haldis | 1288 comments The owner of the facility where Eliot goes for daycamp started fostering greyhounds. Eliot gets to run and play with them.....apparently the last time she was there she had to smack one down. He kept trying to stand over her, which is a no-no.
....Eliot weighs 16 pounds.....she is known as The Enforcer at camp. She let's the other dogs know if they are behaving inappropriately. None of the other dogs question her authority. She is mighty.
