What Are you Reading?
Josh (or anyone...), do you have any recent cozy mystery series you would recommend? I have read many from 10-20 years ago, but not much recently. Any new good ones out there? Besides Diana Killian? :)

The other cozy mystery series that I intend to work my way through is Posted To Death. I think the first book is very cheap on AMZ

Seriously, I hadn't thought about this, and it makes sense.

I've actually find myself changing ratings after a reread or listening to a book I initially read. I like the option to change my mind :-D

Similar recent reading for me with In the Middle of Somewhere and Rag and Bone. The second Somewhere is in my TBR pile. I read The Butcher's Son and all of Dorien Grey's Elliot Smith series a couple years ago, but didn't continue with the Hardesty books. Well, more reminders of things to come back to. : )
Loved Rag and Bone, BTW. Weekend reading, I'm midway through Jordan L. Hawk's Maelstrom.

I read and enjoyed the two series Ije lists last year. I'd qualify my recommendation saying that both are somewhat quirky. The Country Life books are longish, and the Simon-Kirby Jones books are perhaps an acquired taste. But I read them all one after the other. : )

I'm quite sure that it was recommended by someone here, so thanks to the person who recommended it.

Is there an easy way to get a single file of something from fictionpress? I've run across a few things I've been interested in, but having to read multiple chapters on my computer has always made me give them a pass.

*bookmarked* Thanks so much!
I read the book in one day. Accidental Baby by Serena Storm It was interesting and entertaining enough for me to want to keep reading to see what happens next for Zane and Alex. I don't want to give any spoilers away. The closer I came to the end of the book the more action happened, especially when Zane (Alex's Alpha) was fighting with another Alpha strong than he was wondering who would be the one to walk out the door alive. The story tells of one Omega, Alex, that has lived amongst humans with a pack leader that doesn't teach his pack anything about their true nature, and an Alpha, Zane, that has grown up with the old ways on an isolated island. I liked the way Storm wrote the book to include the birth of the child and how Zane and Alex were as parents and of course the agony they go through.
If you don't like your lovers to eventually show love and kindness to each other then you might want to skip this book. But to those who love a book that takes mistrust of their mate, and the other totally unaware what's happening as an Omega with lots of awkwardness and bringing it to love, then I highly recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review
I am reading The Mermaid Murders at last! I have ignored all the reviews and discussions about this book so that I wouldn't come across any spoilers. I couldn't start it earlier because my head was full of my new job, which I am enjoying, and now I have started the MM I am relishing it! I am just so pleased that this is going to be a series. Thanks so much Josh :)
I started Out of Nowhere yesterday morning and read all day, the author is fantastic... all other books got pushed to the side (even KAGE which is excellent).

Well, really why not? I mean the lists and scores are essentially for conversation and personal use. It's not like we're being graded.
I try to share books I've enjoyed because I know readers like favorite authors to share what they read. I used to be more frank about what I didn't like, but I've come to believe that's a bad idea. For a lot of reasons.

Dean's work is very entertaining. He's done several series. I think the vampire series was the most original, but probably ahead of its time with a mainstream cozy audience.

Still in the flailing around mood. Came to a screeching halt with STRANGE FORTUNE when my nerves couldn't handle anymore awfulness. Guess impossible quests like LOR where the story grabs me by the throat aren't my thing. So I read a few books that soothed me, and then started reading THE CHRONICLES OF BENJAMIN DRAGON. Appropriate for ages 9+. C.G. Cooper nailed this...it seemed like he was channeling a 10 year old boy. Gave both 5 stars.

Just finished and really enjoyed Vintage: A Ghost Story by Steve Berman. It was creepy, and is meant for YA, but had a nice mystery to it.

It works very good for AO3, fanfiction.net and fictionpress (didn't try it on other platforms). The cool thing is that it retrieves meta data as well, like tags or series name.

Yes! I've heard many good things about that one through the years. I've got it somewhere in my TBR.

I just emerged from the Mnevermind trilogy by Jordan Castillo Price. EACH book sucks me in so hard, no matter the subject. I happily have many more of hers yet to go.Though now for something completely different... Not sure what though.

oh - that has to be my next series - I'm so doing the second Kage Unleashed book because it is such a cliffhanger I can't stand it, but after this one, that is next on my list! I'm so glad you are loving it.
I've read How To Be A Normal Person and I loved it. It is a pity that the humor gets a bit repetitive, it could have been 5 stars.I also loved the fact that one of the MCs is asexual, and no one tries to ''fix'' him. I found out only after I've read the book that TJ self came out as asexual.
Just finished Round and Round by Andrew Grey I've loved this whole series and this one completed the whole circle of friends. Kevin has the worst nightmare of his life, losing so much, but a dream come true gaining more. It's a good read.
I also finished Where Willows Won't Grow by Lia Black This was a fascinating book. It took me a moment to adjust to sex slaves and it is graphic, but the theme of slavery with aliens was well written far as I'm concerned. I had a hard time keeping an image of what Illythe looked like for there wasn't a picture of him on the front cover-ebony with long white hair. I kept thinking about those beautiful ebony statues with no face but by the curves of the wood, you just know the person is gorgeous. If your into a different kind of sex slave and out of this world, try this book.
I read the story Omega's Clothes: M/M Wolf Shifter and Wizard Short Story Romance by Aiden Bates I give it three stars because although it was an interesting story and Bates got you into the book and then he ends in the middle having no idea what happen to the rest of the story. I really dislike these books of his that leave you hanging and tells you to download ebook which may be the second part. Trouble is, I can never get it to download on my kindle. I was frustrated after reading it.

Josh wrote: "Darlene wrote: "I read the story Omega's Clothes: M/M Wolf Shifter and Wizard Short Story Romance by Aiden Bates I give it three stars because although it was an i..."Both. The story starts out with a character, Will who's a werewolf, hounding David to date him-over and over he'd come to the shop through out the whole story. Then this guy shows up, Jeff, that David was interested in- Jeff was a wizard.
Near the end, Will gets his date with David at a pizza joint that has all his pack there. Will became aggressive in his argument and David tried to flee but Will's Pack blocked the exit. Cornered he panicked of course and the last thing David remembers was Will in his face and his paw rips across David's chest and David passes out.
Some how David crawled to Jeff's house and it was there David learns he's a werewolf and Jeff a wizard. Between Jeff's master, Seth, an older wizard that popped in and Jeff decided that they had enough power to keep Will and his pack away from David.
Then the attraction of Alpha and Omega happens between Jeff and David and they mate. During his afterglow David has thoughts hoping this wasn't a dream and that it would be worth staying as a werewolf. The End
The book ended there. I didn't know what happened after the Pizzeria. Did Will and his pack just let him go or did he escape. And what about the Wizard's that felt they could keep David safe. Did they attack or not.
All I can say is I came away from the book frustrated wanting to have some sort completeness to the story.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how the book left me.

Just started reading The School for Good and Evil and so far I'm really enjoying it. It reminds me a bit of Harry Potter, except that the school of magic is really a school to teach you either Good or Evil, depending on where you end up. This is a trilogy, which is rather exciting. Not too short, but not too long that I can't finish it rather quickly if I decide to keep reading after the first book. :-)
I'll add to the pile of you guys saying that "Rag and Bone is amazing!" Wow, I absolutely loved it. Something about it just really spoke to me. It appears that KJ Charles is only able to write really amazing books. :)

Is anyone familiar with Nathan Aldyne? I have a lot to read in my queue at the moment, but I am curious about this series: http://bosguy.com/2016/03/16/gay-them...(I am doing a 6-month fantasy/sci-fi challenge. Currently debating between Kirith Kirin, Moonlight, Tiger, and Smoke, The Vintner's Luck and Inversion Point.)

The series was co-written and is considered something of a gay classic.

I'll have to see if they're available through the library. (ETA: Library has three of the four already. Score! Thanks, Josh.)
You know you've been reading m/m too long when you see ALL KINDS of queer overtones in Georgette Heyer's Cotillion! There's Freddy who is quite the dandy, and then when we meet Jack for the first time, Freddy (internally) remarks on his beauty and the shapeliness of his thighs.I'm all Ummm....
Apparently Freddy is the hero of this book. I had to verify it with those who'd read it before. I was sure he was going to be the gay best friend helping her land Jack.

I barely remember Cotillion. That and Frederica are a bit vague in my recollection. But I remember longing for slash fan fiction for The Black Moth. And I think the Foundling has a very nice relationship between Gilly and his cousin. Anyway, yes to spotting those undertones.
