Finished Rag and Bone by KJ Charles and enjoyed it a lot. It's always a pleasure to visit her Magpie verse!

Do you by chance know anything about his historical novels series, Antonella? I have been on the lookout for the second one, but obviously he worked on the Rios book (still not sure if I want to read it)?

That was fast! I've still got to finish Mermaid Murders first.

Omega Beloved by Aiden Bates I wouldn't classified this story as of my books for 2016, because it was so short. I was disappointed when the story just stopped unfinished. The free ebook would not load onto my Kindle which I assumed would have been the rest of the story and there is no way to buy it unless I buy it in a group Kindle stories.Just my luck.
Hell's Kitchen by Aiden Bates Another one of Bates Kindle stories I enjoyed. I bought the second story to find out what happened. In this series it would be great if Aiden Bates took all of these little stories and brought them together in book form.
Rocky Mountain by Aiden Bates Was another enjoyable read, but I was really was bummed out when the free ebook would not load on my kindle.
Jordan L. Hawk will release Whyborne & Griffin 8 on July 22nd. If you haven't yet started on the series, book one, Widdershins, is still free:

8! Wow. I am so behind on that series, but I do love it. I've only just bought book five. For shame.
Dirty Deeds by Rhys Ford Was another great book. I know I'm repeating myself when I review this series, but the books are awesome. The one thing I notice is Ford likes to do cliffhangers at the end. This ending was really a good one.
My next book I'll start today is Rhy Fords, Down and Dirty which is the sixth book in the series. Now I can't wait for her seventh book to come out.
I just finished Nor Iron Bars a Cage by Kaje Harper and it was fantastic. It spun differently than any sorcerers book I've read. Here the sorcerers summoned the dead to ask questions about anything they are seeking answers to. Not much about true magic. When the main character, Lyon, is betrayed by his master, Meldov, who was seeking answers from the undead things got out of hand and he was possessed by the Dark entity. Though there's much more that happens before the entity marks Lyon as 'his', then the whole nightmare begins. Even burning the brand away he continues to mental fall apart.
It's heartbreaking to read what this young boy went through with that dark entity that tried to possess him and left him with extreme fear and could only live a life of solitude that is until Tobin steps. Honest to God, read the story it's has many turns to strengthening his character it's worth the read.
Still on my historical kick, I'm reading Sylvester by Georgette Heyer. I really like him so far! Heyer has the ability to draw me in immediately. I am so happy I've only read 4 of hers so far. SOOOO many to go yet.
I am reading Kari's new Stray. I had to put it down so I could be off to work. It was at a good part that had me chuckling. Hopefully the day will go fast so I can get back to it.
For a challenge in another group I was supposed to read a book from my GR recommendation page (which I usually ignore). I choose Hell Cop, because I enjoy linked anthologies and had overlooked this one so far. What a shame, because the book was very good! Afterwards I bought and read the second volume too, Hell Cop 2 -same authors, same MCs now as more or less established couples. Perfect weekend read!

*nodnod*
I feel I should schedule a re-read soon.
I just finished the first in the Astreiant series, Point of Hopes by Melissa Scott and Lisa A. Barnett. It was a cool fantasy mystery and I really liked it. There are many neat characters and amazing world-building and an engaging mystery. It's from Lethe Press, so I just bought the rest of the series because it's super cheap. Looking forward to it.
Loved this book by Wolf Specter, Dragon Fire I read it in one long day, because I couldn't put it down. The paranormal books has always caught my eye and dragons have been one of my favorite animal right up there with wolves. I got this Kindle book free on amazon, but it would have been worth the money if I had to buy it. Guess I'll keep my eye out for Wolf Specter's next book.

2. Rest You Merry
3. The Bottle Ghosts

I don't know if it's ever been confirmed though. I just wondered if Josh knew anything.
I finished
(there was no way I would stop) and loved it, 5 stars. Sooner or later I'll write a review.

Down and Dirty by Rhys Ford I loved reading about the beginning of Bobby and Ichiro's relationship and how it developed. It fit well with Book 4 where Bobby was distracted about something he didn't want to discuss with Cole. It also had a very happy ending. I'm looking forward to Book 6.Next book Fire and Rain by Andrew Grey
Read Dormant Heart by Lane Swift, a nice surprise; gentle writing with beautiful moments and very likable characters.

It kept me up past my bedtime last night, but I had to stop before finishing so I'd be able to face my classroom today without a nose-plant. ; )

I finished reading Raymond Chandler's The High Window which was solid five stars for me. Today I started listening to his The Long Goodbye.
I know that some of you have already mentioned your Chandler favorites here, but could you do it again? I didn't write them down then and now I'm dying to know which ones you guys like the best. Yes, I've caught the Chandler fever... :-)

The Big Sleep, The High Window, and The Long Goodbye are my favorites so far. The one i'm reading now - The Little Sister - I like it a bit less; there's something about Marlowe's voice in this one, a kind of edginess that leaves me a bit on edge as well; but still, sometimes there are sudden, awesome lines, so i'm reading more for these insights and his way with words than for plot and characters, at least for this particular book.
