That's so interesting about In Plain Sight. I hadn't realize that before.

Sex usually doesn't bother me if it's well written and not out of context from the story.

I hadn't realized it before either.
Just finished Armed and Dangerous by Josh LanyonI totally loved this book. Having 4 novellas in one book is a dream come true for me, because I prefer holding a book vs my kindle. But most of all I loved her characters, Special Agents for the Department of Diplomatic Security, Taylor MacAllister and Will Brandt.
The writing is beautiful, the love scenes tasteful, and the deep emotional feelings they have, and the strength to tell one another is precious. The story kept me reading. I had a hard time putting the book down when my eyes were too tired to read anymore. The thrill and action can be jaw-clenching and worrisome at the same time it is written so well.
It will be difficult to wait for the next book to come out, but I hope it's soon. Thanks Josh for a wonderful, entertaining book.
I bought the audio of Armed and Dangerous and it's next on my list. Right now I'm listening to Male/Male Mystery box set. Excellent.

I have now finished all 12 books of the Lessons in Love series, by Charlie Cochraine. Thanks so much for the recommendation, which I received from this thread! By the way, the first book is out on audio and it is really good.

Yay! Always good to see another aficionado of that wonderful series, Clary. Those books make me happy. I'm really looking forward to the audio version. I'm still listening to Glitterland, but I'll have Lessons in Love next.

Just finished listening to that audio this week. Loved it.
I've just heard an interview with Nigerian-American author Chinelo Okparanta about her Under the Udala Trees, a lesbian coming of age story in the years of the Biafran conflict. The MC is called Ijeoma!Here an article about it. It sounds interesting:

Okparanta won the 2014 Lambda Literary Award for her collection Happiness, Like Water.

I was thinking about requesting her second book when I saw it on NetGalley but I chickened out. I think the subject matter is deeply fascinating because the civil war is not something that is spoken about much in Nigeria and yet there are these young authors such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Chinelo Okparanta writing about a war which took place either before they were born or when they were very young. I was two when the war started.
It is truly amazing to have these women writing anew about this war that no one wants to speak about. Evidently there are courageous and imaginative voices that will not allow this to be forgotten.

It was really good sci-fi and had such a unique way of portraying people who are trans without spelling it out. It led the reader to draw their own conclusions. I dont think the cover of the book did it justice though.

I kept thinking that not only did it cover transgender issues really well, the whole situation had to have started with women in general, since there were no "women" in the world. They were clearly looked down on for being female, and then looked down on for attempting to be male.
...there's just so much this book covers so eloquently. It's one big puzzle piece where everything is interconnected. Pure amazingness. I'm really interested to see what this author comes out with next!

I am just finishing Second Chance by David Lennon. This is the third book in his Quarter Boys series. The stories are ok so far, set in New Orleans and the plots can some times be a bit complex but gripping.

And i know exactly what you mean with Dave's story... Very bittersweet, and yet i'll be happy to spend a bit more time with them.
Dog and Other Stories arrived a couple of days ago. It was here in Toronto all this time, lol. And i should remember the reliable seller. I think it's an actual bookstore, and usually they take a bit more care with the books.
Reading JL Merrow's Out!. Enjoying it so far except for the scenes where one of the characters is conveniently all nasty. But maybe that will improve too, because the rest is pretty awesome Merrow.

Change of pace, I am reading Venetia by Georgette Heyer. I just started it and it already made me chuckle a few times. I love Heyer's wit. So understated and deadly.

There are stories in the book that I could imagine Lanyon continuing for a great book. If you love Josh Lanyon's books, this is a must have.

Finally started Lost on Twilight Road by James Colton aka Joseph Hansen. As always, wonderful, descriptive language and a story suffused with both melancholy and sweetness. And the title itself is lovely and captures the feel of the book completely.

I'm re-reading The Reluctant Widow for the nth time, and still laughing at the funny bits. As you say, understated but no less effective for that.

No I haven't listened to the audio, in fact, I haven't listened to any audios. Maybe I should give this one a try.

Ghosts is the last book in the Wraeththu Histories trilogy which follows the original Wraeththu trilogy.
I've been reading these one every year, except that I skipped last year for some reason I don't remember.
I just found out there's a Wraeththu Mythos trilogy that is a little different from these, published in 2005. I'm not sure if I want to read them yet or not.
But if you haven't read Wraeththu yet, you should do it! I keep thinking I would enjoy rereading them as soon as I finish this one.
These are an experience, unlike anything you've read before. :-)
