Did you say something, Josephine? :-D"
@Josh: Oh my gosh haha. ^_^ I must admit I was reluctant to read this because the last time I opened my wattpad account it was to check whether your book was copied or not.
Er, so, we all know how that went down. I got worried that maybe the other titles there were copied from someone else, too. But the title of this work got me so I went ahead and read it. :D Glad I did because I liked it. Thought the work still has a room for improvement but yep, I liked it. :D

Not a problem. You can send me a message if you're having problems with any book and I'll try to help you. Most offer mobi format when you buy ebook from various publishers but not all. Like Kobo doesn't offer it so books I buy there I have to change the format myself and I usually do it through Calibre or G-drive, where I also store most of my books bought elsewhere than Amazon. I wish though I could also store my Amazon bought books there because I fear that if Amazon were to go bankrupt all my books there will be done and gone :(

Wooo HOOOO!

I have to confess I'm a bit tired of romance. I think after I finish out the Lessons series, which is primarily mystery, I will look around for more mysteries or possibly some science fiction.
I need a change of pace. Except for Josh's new one. That'll be read forthwith.

I read a lot more than romance. But then it's mostly in Icelandic so I never talk about it here ;)
Most of the romances I read are MM and in English so I can talk about here but "finer" literature is mostly in my own language. Right now I'm reading this wonderful book that's a bit of a biography yet a children's book too but also for adults. It's funny and full of such beautiful description of human characters it's impossible to read without smiling and on occasion laughing out loud; Fuglalíf á Framnesvegi. And the cover is beautiful.

Kaje's newest isn't actually a romance, in my opinion..but I guess it's cuz it's mostly setting up for the rest of the series. And yes, I'm starting to get burnt out a little, also.. Needing some scifi or paranormal to kick things up!!

I finally figured out this has been my problem for the last few books. I'm skimming and "hmphing" over perfectly good romances, and about to rate them all at two stars.
So I took a break and read The Martian, which I had heard was even better than the movie. I really liked the movie, apart from the feeling, "Yeah, that'll never happen." I really liked the book, too, but did skim some of the details in the second half. Still, I haven't enjoyed a book that much for a while.

Skimming and "hmphing" is a perfect description. Or reading the first five pages and thinking, I just can't face this right now.

I like Kaje's writing, so I also liked this one even if it isn't romance as such. I also read across the genres and can get a little burned out on romance if I only read that for a while. These days I'm on the last book of the second Mistborn-trilogy The Bands of Mourning in between m/m and m/f reading.
I'm also listening to Glitterland at the moment, I adore it.

Careful of his warning: it's a love story, not a romance. But he says that the end is satisfying for him and the book is not (his words) a ''tragedy wank'' ;-).

I've been reading a lot of mysteries lately. I've been delving into "Golden Age" mysteries i.e. published between WWI and WWII, and I'm also reading The Golden Age of Murder by Martin Edwards, which has identified several authors I want to try.
I've also been reading some mysteries published in the 1960s by Elizabeth Lemarchand, which have been good. They're the sort of mysteries which focus a lot on characters and their relationships, and the key fact is only discovered by the detectives quite late in the book so you can't really solve it yourself. But it's not cheating, because the reader knows at the same time as the police!

It's one year old, they publish different stuff, here what they write for authors:
«Our books are about all kinds of people and are meant to reach readers who define humanity based on diverse lived experiences. Our goal is to build a catalog of radically authentic stories and poetry about all facets of the human experience with love, understood as broadly as possible.
As a “story-first” publisher, we flatten genre distinctions by focusing our production and marketing decisions around what is special and appealing in each work. We commission or purchase original art for every cover, pay for innovative and original cover design, and invest in high-quality editing of all titles. Every book is different, and every book deserves to be produced, marketed, and sold on its own unique merits.»

Yay! :-)

Then read Eli Easton's The Stolen Suitor which was very good! Apparently i have this very annoying expectation now of romance books of a fabricated conflict at about 2/3 into the book, so i was happy to find out that here all conflict(s) made sense and the suspense felt natural. Is why i love Eli Easton's books. There are always nice surprises.
Watching tv recently, I caught a commercial for a new publishing company called Pages, if I remember correctly. They said they would respond to you within a week of your submission, with edits and would take care of major stuff for you like marketing. I have yet to look them up online, but it seemed a little too good to be true. And I don't know what genres they accept, I'm not sure it got mentioned. I only saw the add twice and I rarely watch actual Tv with commercials anymore, so likely won't run into it again.
Has anyone else seen this?

The next four volumes in the series were published by Riptide. I'll be interested to see if there's a difference in feel. I DO look forward to Riptide's formatting. They have some of the best ebook formatting out there. I know it's geeky but I've complimented them on it.

Tonight I'll start the second book, Into the Wind

I had vaguely heard of this as a TV series a few years ago, but had never tuned in. This might be a good thing, because I hear that the humor is not quite translating as well to the screen, since much of the humor is Walt's thoughts and internal monologue.
Anyway, the books are decent mysteries, but Walt's outlook on life, crime, and the citizens of the ficticious Absaroka County in Wyoming are keeping me thoroughly entertained as I drive around town. The secondary characters and their relationships with Walt and each other are what really make the series. George Guidall's narration is simply marvellous as well. I think listening to the books has helped me to not skim over some of the wry, understated humor.
And the TV series has made the books popular enough that my library has all of the audiobooks (and probably the books, too), so free to me!
Here's my review of book one for those who are interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I love his covers...

We talked about this last week, but I'll just say it again now that I've finished the series--for anyone who's worried this is three books of BDSM slave erotica with lots of sex and violence and kink, it really isn't at all. It's high fantasy with a political/military bent that has a wonderfully slow-building love story going on at the same time. There's actually very little sex. I believe there's three (non-kinky) sex scenes between the two main characters in the entire series. It's mostly about two royal dudes fighting the bad guys and trying to save the world together, and one of them is a prisoner of the other one for a while. Lots of battles and political intrigue and sword fights and other standard high fantasy stuff. And it's awesome and so entertaining.
Susinok wrote: "Finished up Lessons in Trust and now on to All Lessons Learned by Charlie Cochrane. So far so good but this one will be a bit of a tearjerker. Takes place after WWI and Jonty though..."
Honestly, there's a LOT to be said for good ebook formatting! And there are some publishers who aren't very good at it. It shows, it looks sloppy, and can make a book hard to read.

I'm reading the first of THIRDS series Hell & High Water by Charlie Cochet. Not quite sure yet what to think of it. For parts the MC is hilarious for others I feel like missing parts of the timeline. And then there is the strong resemblence of the set-up to the Infected series by Andrea Speed and then again it's nothing like that one. You see, I'm very ambivalent about it. ;-)
