I know I originally said I wasn't going to read this right away, due to the fact that the main character is almost exactly like the one I'm trying to write about, but I couldn't help myself. :-) And I'm glad I decided not to wait.
Honestly, though, I'm finding a lot of little similarities to some of Josh's books, which are probably unintentional, but still have made me take notice because there are a few. A character owns a bookstore and his partner is a tough guy with police connections, though I'm still not sure why/how he got those connections. And the main character's name is Aidan Swift. :-)

The Immortal Circus: Act One (1st in a trilogy)
The Ocean at the End of the Lane (OMG, Neil does the audio book himself. I love his voice!)
Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti (The audio for this is amazing! I knitted to this on the plane to and from Seattle last weekend.)
I'm hoping to find time to read these soon. I've got a lot of reading to do to catch up on all of my reading challenges too. :-)
Picked up Shirewode for a buck yesterday, which is book 2. Book 1, Greenwode, was on my TBR list but I hadn't bought it yet. Well, I remedied that, and started the book last night.I have always been a HUGE Robin Hood fan, especially that Showtime series that was done in the 1980's with music from Clannad. This book has the same feel so far.

As for Blue Steel Chain, I loved both MCs, and liked the way asexuality was handled, as well as the abuse. Anyway, I wrote a bit of a review, if anyone cares.

However, I'm missing the elements of a romance novel! This is a straight up mystery and relationships are very much on a back burner. That's not a bad thing. It is a mystery, after all.
I just want more feels!

Yes, I think that's the thing that attracts me to romance. The 'feels'. And if the two can be combined (mystery) then I'm a happy camper!!

Her next book Winterwode is due out this week. And she had said she thinks, since her books don't actually fit the MM romance model, she is considering maybe seeing if they would sell at Renaissance fairs. Her cover artist is fantastic, and the author was so nice to talk to!

I just got my daughter A version of Homers The Odyssey so she could listen for college.
I bought Ian McKellan's narration of The Odyssey years ago. I have been meaning to re-listen to it. I had it on cassette tape. I remember crying ugly tears listening as I drove home from Tennessee one summer when Odysseus met his dog, his father, and his son again after 20 years. Oh man it killed me.

I think the reason I find this interesting probably relates to a recent visit I had to Calgary, Alberta Canada. Being located only 5 hours from the extremely conservative and religious area where I currently live in northern Montana, I was quietly amazed at the lack of panhandling or homelessness on any of the streets in downtown. This is a city of more than 1.5 million people, and having just been to Seattle, where homelessness was seen everywhere, it makes me question why the difference? Is it due to policies? Number of police? Taxes? I feel very ignorant of the differences of a place so close to where I live...
Like most large cities, there are many socioeconomic issues including homelessness.[172] According to the City of Calgary, "Beginning in 1992 with the first Biennial Count of Homeless Persons, The City focused its research efforts on issues of poverty and shelter. An Affordable Housing Strategy was prepared in 2002, which called for a greater understanding of housing need in Calgary. The Calgary Committee to End Homelessness was formed in 2007 consisting of government representatives as well as business and community leaders. The result was Calgary's 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness, which was released in 2008 and is being implemented by the Calgary Homeless Foundation."[173][dead link] Alberta and Calgary have been leaders within Canada in addressing homelessness. Calgary was the first among Canada's large cities to adopt a ten-year plan to address the issue. As a result, the city experienced an 11.4% decrease in homelessness between 2008 and 2012.[174]

Read Lou Harper's Dead in L.A. and Dead in the Desert. They're light and fun and with interesting characters.

Between yesterday and today I finished Murder in Pastel. I'm proud to announce that I managed to stop when I was starting to jump forward and I read it at a normal pace.ETA; I'm still basking in the experience. Obviously I loved it.

I think Murder in Pastel is one of my favourites. I really enjoyed reading it and loved obnoxious Brett. I am finishing off Echoes by David Lennon. This is the second in the series which is set in New Orleans. I am also reading Carefully Everywhere Descending. I am reviewing it for DSP. It is YA and f/f and I don't generally read either of those but this is lovely so far.
I'm currently reading Purpose by Andrew Q. Gordon. It's been rereleased today and is actually rather interesting.. It reminds me a bit of The Host, SPECTR, and 40 Souls to Keep which I enoyed on audio by Libby Drew . It seems to have a mystery going on. Not a traditional romance by any means.

I read a couple of great books over the weekend.Time Waits by C.B. Lewis. Very cool time travel romance. It's heartfelt and exciting and I loved the two main characters. Really engaging.
Make Do and Mend by Adam Fitzroy. This is a lovely, gentle wartime love story. I really enjoyed it. I know it's been mentioned here before, so add me to the list of people who really liked it.

R. Cooper has a lovely Halloween story that's just come out: A Little Familiar. I read this the other day and I really enjoyed it. It's a delightful story about witches and very appropriate for this time of year.
Started King Perry by Edmond Manning. Finally. I bought these books after a reading he did at GRL 2013.
