I have the second book ready to go, which I'm planning to read in September soon as my summer reading is finished. I don't have the third yet. I'm holding out in hopes that she'll have some in Seattle so I can get a signed copy. :-) I love her print books. She does such a great job putting them together. They're a dream to read just because they feel good in my hands.

Great series, book 3 coming up on my reading list soon, bought it during ARe's nice rebate :-)

I read it this week too, and I thought it was okay and I liked the story aspects of it, but for some reason the characters never really grabbed me. I liked Julius a lot, (view spoiler) but I didn't like the other one-- I can't even remember his name at the moment. I guess I'm not fond of "golden retriever" types of characters. I find them a bit boring. (more... (view spoiler) )

I DNFed it, because I didn't care about the MCs, either of them.

"I am normal. I belong. I have a friend who can kick ass from a wheelchair. I live independently and get good grades. I'm an excellent lover. Like I said. I'm awesome. I'm Emmet David Washington. Train Man. The best autistic Blues Brother on the block."

Now I've read her fantasy book Still Waters. It is really great, and it is for free, for ex. on ARe or here

Soon also on amazon.
Just finished JCP's book. OMG, soooo good! Can't wait to get to book two! You guys were so right. And such a quick read. Well, honestly, I had trouble putting it down yesterday. If I had, maybe I'd have gotten more chores done. lol.

Book two is my favorite of the three (Mnevermind, right?)
Enjoy! :-)

Lucky you! This is a awesome series. The second one is my favourite. Glad you enjoyed it.

Neat. I loved Love for the Cold-Blooded, or The Part-Time Evil Minion's Guide to Accidentally Dating a Superhero. It's a fun, totally over-the-top comic book adventure and I thought it was funny and clever. I'll check out that free story.

I did. I enjoyed it very much, but I need to do a reread also.

I read it. I'll need to refresh my memory on it though. I do remember that I liked it at the time.

Yes. Got it a couple months ago. I enjoyed it. I'm ready for the sequel.

Loved it. Looking forward to the next one.
And now for another POV. : )
I finished A Fashionable Indulgence this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it, including the MCs. I love the way K.J. manages to pull off characters who are flawed, somewhat superficial, and/or missing the big picture, but somehow creates a historically plausible and (to me) ultimately redeemable person who I want to cheer for. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I love stories where the restraints and injustices of the class system and homophobia are subverted, even more so stories that convince me that independent women might overcome those restraints as well.

It surprised me how much I enjoyed this one. The romance was nice, but I actually found the supporting characters much more compelling which is why I can't wait for the next two books in the series, especially book three with Cyprian - I have high expectations of that one, lol.
But everything else was so well done that it left me wanting to read another historical right away, a subgenre I tend to avoid.
So hopefully the next two books will be just as good.

Maybe it was an expectation thing for me? It wasn't quite was I was expecting, so maybe that affected how I viewed it, if that makes sense. I love that this whole series is basically about the class system (judging by what I've seen of the coming books) and I am excited for more KJ Charles historicals. The level of detail in this book is amazing and it is done with such a light touch.

Squeal! What an amazing book! You'll find my review if you scroll down a bit. I loved it. It had everything I love jammed packed into a delightful package. Powerful world building. Great character development. Story line and pacing that doesn't peter out and leave you feeling "what the hell happened here?". Best of all? I didn't find any glaring typos or plot holes! Big, big smiles. If you haven't read it, you might want to give it a try.
Yes, that was Mnevermind. So I'm really glad to hear book two is a favorite and that I own it and will get to it soon!
Right now, I'm making my way through Beowulf, a lot slower than I would like, though. And I'm still hoping to get through our BOM by Saturday too, we'll see.

Time for a little advertising: The Administration series is incredibly good! Do read the warnings though. The author is so generous to leave it online for free, starting here: http://www.mannazone.org/zone/admin/f...
but do buy the beautifully crafted paperbacks with gorgeous covers by Casperian books!

This series is incredibly good, I agree. I hesitated reading the first book,Mind Fuck, for a while, but then I gave in one day and started reading online and I was hooked. I didn't think it would be my sort of thing, but it was so good and I kept reading and reading. Enjoy book 8! Let us know how cool it is. I have not bought it yet for some unknown reason.
Uh oh. Book eight is out? I need to get my grubby little paws on that baby! lol. Don't have time to get to it for awhile though.
I read Mind Fuck when it was our BOM awhile back and wasn't sure what to make of it, but I dived back in and kept reading and that was the end of any wishywashiness on my part. It sucks you in and doesn't let go, even with all the dark content.

People in the US and Canada can buy it directly from the publisher:

It is a compelling read...

I hated that book. With. A. Passion! The angst is so over the top it's painful to read.
If you want a really GOOD Amy Lane book, try Clear Water. Or novella It's Not Shakespeare.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was so looking forward to reading it because Dex in Blue is my favorite Amy Lane story and probably one of my favorite stories ever, I've read it countless times. But Ethan's story? Ugh, no. Basically the first two books of the series are so very good but the last two seriously lack something.

I completely agree :-) Skellan is such a wonderful character!

Finally started our BOM!"
Beowulf? As in the actual Beowulf? How did you find it? I've read it and it surprised me how "easy" I found reading it. It's much more like old norse than modern day English.

So glad there's someone else who feels this way. I gave up. Just made my nerve endings strum. Thanks for the recommendations
Yes, the Seamus Heaney translation. It was much easier than I thought it'd be, and much shorter than I remembered from high school! All this time I thought we'd only read part of it when we likely read the whole thing. It's nothing like Homer's Odyssey, that's for sure!

Finished "Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts" by Charlie Cochet. Can't say enough good things about this short, feel good story. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Yay, later today I'll be starting Bel Canto by Ann Patchet. Can't wait. I recall liking this in college, but not having time to finish it. I think I skimmed the ending. This is the second to last of my summer reading books for the year. Yay!

The anthology will be out this coming Tuesday.

I also found out there is a GR group The Administration Zone.
And you can vote to boost Mind Fuck position on the mainstream Listopia list for dystopian books. At the moment it is at place 118.

That was very interesting. Thank you for the link. I am looking forward to this book.

Book one was OK, even if I found it a bit dragging in the end, so trying book 2 now :-)"
Hope you like it! I enjoyed it more than book 1. :-)
